You can if you want. It'll turn out looking like some sort of gruel, but compred to what gruel actually is, rice "gruel" is quite good. And you can add all these other things to it to make it even better.

If you stir it constantly anyway...

I just added a bit of salt and some ground meat (which you can't really see...). My mom later added some other asian stuff that I don't know the names of in English.
