I don't see why you need to change yourself for others, Netto.

And Kyousougiga recently got a full series by TOEI. Was one cour iirc. On my PtW.

I don't know, laptrap. You dislike series more often than not. I like 95% of the stuff I watch. For you it seems as if it is more like 30 or 35. Again, baseless assumption, but that's just what it seems like.
I think the like-dislike ratio becomes very different depending on how often you watch shows based on recommendations vs watch newly airing shows on a whim. :P

I almost never watch trailers. Usually it's the synopsis and art style, when it's newly airing shows. The studios can help a lot, too. For example, I will almost always watch/try something if it's made by SHAFT or Trigger.

Which segment of the 'anime watching population' am I in?

Synopsis, initial reactions, if I already picked up the source.

Though if I do like the synopsis, I do try to see if the original material is available.

Otherwise I'd have to wait until the anime comes out like with Log Horizon.

You belong to the watch everything and see what's to drop after 3 episodes segment LapLap. :P

How do you guys usually pick up anime? Synopsis? Looking at the animation studios? Hype? Looking at previews/trailers? For me, it is a combination of every one of the above. :3

Even though animation studios don't particularly play an important part in which anime series I'm interested in, the anime has to be appealing in terms of animation quality and graphics. The utmost factor that plays into choosing would probably be the voice actors. Because of the high-pitched voices of the majority of Japanese females, I generally avoid watching series that have an almost, if not full, female cast \: Secondary to voices would probably be genre/synopsis, but sometimes the summary is so well-written that the actual story is lacklustre in comparison, or it could just be me being picky XD

Well, my like/dislike ratio is quite high because I don't watch everything and pick up stuff that I have a good chance of liking anyway. Very selective when it comes to my animu I am.

Unless it is a famous/highly rated series like Gintama where I honestly pushed myself to watch the first 20ish episodes just because of the great reception it had. Which I ended up loving but I digress. So I guess the fact that some series are highly rated play a part in me watching them too.

Looks play a part but I'm willing to overlook it if the story/characters are amazing. Berserk, Slam Dunk and other old series, for example. Oh, and I do follow some studios. I look out for most shaft, madhouse and kyoani stuff these days. Production IG and Noitamina (It did Psycho Pass, iirc) too I guess. Trigger joined the list recetly.

I use the shotgun approach with airing, hit everything and some will stick.

Bit more selective with complete shows but I'm willing to give anything a go if somebody vouches for it.

I print out the charts and just throw a few darts at them. If they stick to a certain series, I watch it.

Okay, okay, so I choose whatever sounds cool by the synopsis.

I sincerely hope nobody is trying to psychoanalyze me based on my choices for the season. "Likes assassins and Stands" probably does not bode well for me.

Ping Pong was rather baller. Yuasa art styles have been a bit hit and miss for me but I like this one a lot. Also using an actual Chinese person to voice a Chinese character, other anime please take note.

I kind of enjoy the skewed outlook on the world Japan portrays through anime. Thinking about it I also like a bit of Engrish...you're doing just fine, Japan.

You mentioning Engrish automatically makes me remember this:

...and that alone was enough to get me to watch both series. And the movie. I have no regrets.

Yeah, let's just skip over drama. Not good for anyone.

How do you guys usually pick up anime? Synopsis? Looking at the animation studios? Hype? Looking at previews/trailers? For me, it is a combination of every one of the above. :3
Initial picks are from poster picture in an anime chart, then synopsis/studio, then PV. I may pick up an anime if a lot of people are discussing it on Random Curiosity or Animesuki.

^ sort of similar process here. Though I see if people are talking about said anime on MAL instead. Or even in some FB groups.

On a side note, I saw Sakurasou No Pet Na Kanojo's first four episodes today. Sweet series. I hope it stays as good as it was or even improves down the road.

Well, Daiya no Ace used a Japanese person to speak Chinese. I literally cringed.

Cover + synopsis are more than enough to pick a show. You can tell just from them if a show will have potential, or will just suck.

Neither the cover nor the synopsis of Gintama or One Piece is, like, downright amazing. I don't really think I can gauge how good an anime could be just from those two. But great if you can. :p
