Anime/Manga NP: The Theory of Slice of Life

Gundam has enjoyable OVA series but I'm yet to love one of the main series. Well, I like G Gundam a lot but that isn't exactly representative of the franchise, it is the black sheep.

I really hate it when I have to dig deep in order to find the title of an anime that I've once watched just because I was young and didn't pay a lot of attention to the ones I have watched.

Although, I'd probably try to complete some of the ones that I remember watching like Princess Tutu.

The Little Prince and the Eight Headed Dragon, I watched it as a kid and LOVED it, took me 3 years to find it somehow.

I'll watch all the Gundam. Someday.

Oh, and talking about series we saw earlier and took time to find - I saw (as in, a few scenes here and there) Fushigi Yuugi 14 years ago. And the only thing I remembered about the anime was that it had a girl who looked like a priestess, there was romance involved in the anime and that the opening song was beautiful (I remembered the tone roughly). Beat that - finding an anime 14 years after you saw it first! :p

Considering Fushigi Yuugi's popularity... eh, not bad maybe?

Then again, I'm still trying to find this one manga that I borrowed from a friend years ago and I barely remember a single thing about it. I could always text her and ask for the title, but that'll ruin my fun on searching for it. P:

You two have seen a decent amount of anime, I'm a little bit surprised.
I have habit of watching everything in a series so I first want to watch the old Gundams and since I didn't have any TV channel that aired Gundam, I didn't have a chance to start anything yet...

Yeah nope, Fushigi Yuugi wasn't popular at all over at my place. And the people I consulted were mostly Indians as well - as a result, it wasn't as easy as you probably think it was haha.

Also same here. I think I'll start from the very beginning when I start Gundam. I'll probably watch all of it. But srsly, it is a pretty vast series - i'll need some serious amount of time on my hand to invest in it - something I don't quite possess right now.

You dont have to start UC first. However with reconguista coming out soon it'd do you well to watch MSG Z ZZ Unicorn 008x and the likes so you get the full backstory.

I don't really care if it isn't story-related, I just tend to want to have everything related to anime series I start, watched.
It's something like my obsession... similar to 1x speed and OP & ED watching.

This is the first I've heard of people not watching shows at the speed they were designed to be watched. o___o I feel like that would totally change the mood and pacing of the show.

It's a pretty weird concept, really. Some people insist on using their media players to speed up the playback, which to me just seems silly.

Too bad sometimes I can't seem to find everything related to the anime series I start eg. omakes. :'D
I normally skip openings and endings after I've watched it once... or if it's so ear wormy I'd sit back and listen to it again and again... and then proceed to get the full version and have it on a single loop.

You'd be surprised. Most of us here prefer the normal speed, but I know some irl people watching it with 1.5x speed. Either because they wanted to, or because they didn't want to get caught by the teachers for watching titans eating up people (yes it was SnK).

Well, with SnK, I don't blame them, haha. It's not even the titans. It's the pacing. I'm watching it in English on Toonami, and it's almost not an exaggeration to say that SnK makes the Dragon Ball Frieza Saga look fast-paced.

Either because people want to speed through the series or want to watch more...

Yeah I get the concept that they want to watch it faster for whatever reason. I just get confused because I don't feel like you can accurately assess a show if you're watching it not at the speed it was designed to be watched. The sounds aren't the same, the pauses aren't the same, you could easily miss inflections in tone and small details, the pacing is all off, etc.
