Official Emblem Discussion Thread

I want to say something. I don't really think that an emblem like this would just encourage negative spammy posts.

But, hasn't anyone thought that it can also encourage mature, constructive posts in the forum under the correct constraints?
I'd agree to an extent. While an emblem can encourage good actions in posts, behavior etc, it can also encourage bad actions as well. For instance, if you take the "No, no, no" Emblem for example, when people noticed the way to get that emblem was to ask for more and more emblems, they began to purposely ask for them even more, including the "No, no, no" Emblem itself. Unfortunately, I'm afraid the same thing could occur if they were to see an emblem is awarded for post count. :\

I mean if you look at it, members here are various. Taking the majority of our active posters here, the less mature outweigh the mature members we do have here. So, if this is to be taken into prospective, then I'd say a lot of members would begin to post much more frequently to where things can become borderline-spam, which isn't something to look forward to.

5,000 posts for a blog is a lot. It requires the normal member to be part of the community for a good while and to make all those posts. They are also under the constraint that if they are spammy along that way, they will never get there because of infractions, eventual depression in social view, and bans. Not everyone is exactly a total idiot.
If I can say anything about post count, it's that it does give some insight on how active a user may be on the forums. While 5000 posts is pretty high for having a blog, it doesn't necessarily mean it'll take a long period of time to earn it. This depends on the user to be honest. One can be active, post frequently, and still have quality posts that aren't considered spam. Although what I just said can be applied to the same person who is active, frequent poster, and goes near the verge of borderline-spam.

If you ask me 5000 posts is a perfectly find number of posts to have before access to one's own blog. It's not exactly a number that isn't hard to get here if you're active and follow the rules. Reason why is because if you really want high posts, then you shouldn't have to spam. Seems like a silly reason if you know your post will only get deleted after a matter of time. And if you don't want to get in trouble or receive a infraction/ban, then don't do anything you know you aren't supposed to. It's as simple as that really. And if you want it that badly, then the only other I suggestion I'd make is to donate to the forums.

As for the once-in-awhile idiots, it's up to them on what they decide. Unfortunately, doing wrong will come with a gift, to put it nicely. As for those who are not idiots around here, then they know what they have to do - especially those who have been here awhile. Actually, you could be here for just two months and get the hang of things easily, even sooner than that. That's just my two cents on the matter anyway.

Sorry for it being tl;dr. ): I know some of the things I said might be repetitive, but I was hoping I still got the message through without it confusing anyone . n_n;

Lets say we have valueable things to post... can we go on a non-spam posting frenzy?

Hey, as long as all your posts are constructive and on-topic, you can post as much as you want. I mean, it's not like we're gonna limit how much you can post in a given amount of time. We just don't want people making SPAM in order to increase their post count.

Not only does it give everyone a false sense of your activity, but spammy posts are just plain annoying for everyone to read - and annoying to go through and delete.

not to be pushy, but how long till the Get-Together Emblems are ready?

(Since Hiroshi just posted this in the Working Combee section of the Get-Together =3), they are uploading the emblems very very soon, and as soon as they're in the event supervisors will distribute them.

k, thanks, i'll be patient!

I have a duplicate account, Cherniy_X, who joined today. I'd like to get my Veteran emblem. Yes, I joined to get Shiny Gold and wanted to use a decent name, so I joined as TheX (this one)

Aaand you've got the emblem now. (Gave it to your main, assuming you wanted that).

That makes sense! Thank you for answering my question

Alright guys a quick word of advice to those awaiting Get-Together emblems, please heed the following:

If you feel that the emblem you wish to obtain has already been given out to some people (such as a participant emblem) please PM the staff member who hosted or supervised the event in which relates to that emblem. However, please be patient, give it a few hours after you've seen the emblems handed out, we've only just got them uploaded today and it will be some time before they are all distributed, so I'll reiterate and say; please be patient.

Alternatively, if the thread relating to your event is still open in the Get-Together forum, then I would suggest you post there if it's something like a participatory emblem, just to say that you were there. Sometimes staff don't remember everyone who participated in an event if they do not post in the thread, a prime example would be the Skype Manifesto. If any staff have a better suggestion feel free to jump in, but for now I think my suggestions to you guys should be safe enough.

Be sure to provide some sort of proof to show you are actually deserving of the emblem and also, be sure that you feel you've been skipped, try not to pressure staff members as this can take some time. At any rate, thanks for reading and just give these things a little time, we'll get around to you :]

Can't wait to get more. I'm trying for "Color Coordinated" right now. *hinthint*[/i] Also, Chaos Rush is overdue on their PC Veteran emblem.

Aren't they supposed to request emblems themselves? xD;
Anyways, I'm going for a Smiley emblem =D
And I'm waiting for the Game Map-Off participant emblem & Pixel Art participant one. =]

I am trying to get both the smiley emblem :) xD =D >:| o-|-<
and the shut up emblem. I'm not entirely sure why, but I feel that as the days go by I've been writing more and more in my posts, sometimes without even knowing it, which is weird because my posts only consisted of one, maybe two sentences when I first joined. Also, based on what I've seen....I think some of the emblems may be from befriending certain mods, so I guess I'll go send some friend requests now xD

Sending random friend requests to mods is usually a big no-no, cause I know I ignore random requests. Plus, you kinda just posted your reason for sending them. You don't wanna get to know us. You're just like a gold digger. You only want us for our emblems! -runs away crying-

Everytime someone sends a random friend request to a mod with out a simple introduction, or even a "how are you", a kitten dies :(.
