Yeah, I don't think Kris was replaced, I think "Soul" is just Kris redesigned. I prefer the new design though, not like any of this matters. I won't care much if it is a different character, I'll still prefer her over Kris.

Most of the Crystal features are in the game, HGSS is pretty much a Crystal remake with a different name. Dawn is from DPPt, completely different games from RSE, while Crystal is pretty much the same game as GS, except with more features. How is that comparable? Eusine is much more important character than Kris, Kris is just an avatar for the player. Going by that logic, there shouldn't be a female at all. Crystal introduced the female choice, not Kris alone.

No, I'm not a butthurt fangirl, but the whole "replaced because it's not crystal" reason does not make any sense. If they replaced her, they replaced her because they wanted to and for the friggin lulz. [/rant]

The Crystal design is alright, but the HGSS design is much more fun and playful. Don't get why she has tons of hate, her clothes are considered fashionable in Japan. Plus, I love her newsboy cap!

EDIT-I don't get the impression why you guys think the OP is whining. He isn't saying she replace her, he's just simply asking which girl you guys prefer.

Thank you I kept telling people those points a while back. I do not know why people will not wait to see if the girl is a redesign of Kris by seeing if Kris would be her preset name or if her name is associated with the word Kris in the hidden game data instead of dismissing the matter so quickly. The protagonist mother's hair was dark blue in GSC from her artwork and from her GSC sprite it is brown and has a different hairstyle and Blaine in Pokemon Red and Green design changed drastically in Pokemon Blue. Also I still do not know why people are still calling her 'Soul' instead of 'Heart' because at least she has been referred to that and it causes confuse and they are just basing on that unreliable pattern from FRLG. Some people think these avatars actually have personalities because since the HGSS girl has a different hair color and looks more feminine then she is automatically not Kris. Even if these characters did have personalities it is not impossible for someone to get a makeover. Red was shown as 'Fire' as his placeholder name for FRLG and the HGSS boy also known as Gold was shown as 'Soul'. The reason the FRLG girl canon name was Leaf because her and Red's name was in the hidden game data.

If the HGSS girl this is not Kris and a new character then I would like to believe that the she was based off of her but just like it was believe that Leaf was based off the prototype girl from generation one. I agree that that they did replace Kris because they it because they wanted a new female avatar for the popular fashion trend in Japan and not because the Crystal remake excuse which has been invalidated since Crystal features has appeared in HGSS. I considered the female choice a Crystal feature not Kris herself who is just an avatar. That is like just saying that Pokemon Blue addition should not have been in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen because they are Pokemon Red and Green remakes not Pokemon Blue remakes.

I do like the HGSS girl's design it is very fashionable. Most people are probably just say that it looks awful because it looks exotic to them and because they are most people who think outfit is terrible live outside of Japan.

I think she's adorable. :D I personally see her as a sort of 're-vamping' of Crystal...I just really like her design overall. I might actually play the girl character in HG/SS. XD
(I always seem to play the boy character in the games. Don't ask me why, even I don't know. XD)
 
Hmmm... it does seem that Soul could be a redesigned Crystal... *throws blue paint over Soul's head and steals her hat* I see what you mean.
 
I never play as the girl character, and I already don't care about her. End of story :s
I, do, however, like the poll.
 
My opinion of her has changed I have to admit, she's grown on me (although warts do that too ;)). I just wish she looked slightly less hillbillyish. I'd also prefer a more mangaish hair colour (eg blue/pink/green) cause I'm funny like that, although it would be nice to have either a blonde or redhead in Gen V.
 
Okay, I don't really see what everyone says about Crystal and Soul looking alike. I mean sure, same hairstyle, but other than that, completely different people. Blue Hair/Blue eyes Brown hair/Brown eyes with two different outfits that don't look anything alike. Soul'd stance makes me think she's more perky, while Crystal's is more relaxed. So yeah, I see too many differences to think she's a revamp of Crystal. I admit I was disappointed when I found out I won't ever be playing as Crystal. (I've never bought G/S/C and since I'm buying Soul Silver, there's no need to go back and buy the old version. Even though Crystal almost made me do it. ;)) Soul's okay, but I've never liked her outfit, although I have seen a picture where she actually looks cute. But she'll never replace Crystal, neither in the game, or my heart. (Wow that sounded cheesy. But I meant it.) I'll still end up playing as Soul, and I'll do my best not to complain.(Too much.) She's not really all that bad, and it's the game that matters most, right?
 
I like Soul so much better than Kris. To be honest, she is much less of a fashion disaster than Kris is. So what if she's wearing overalls and her hat is big? The whole outfit looks good together. It suits the more rural region.

I'm just glad the new girl is wearing shorts instead of a mini skirt. If you're going to go to two regions, have two guys following you, as well as Team Rocket to worry about, you're not going to want to wear a mini skirt. The long socks and the 3/4ths long sleeve shirt are for when she goes into Ice Path. You don't want her to freeze do you? Her hat is for when it rains/snows. (It rains on Lake of Rage, so she needs the hat.)

I actually like her now.
At First I didnt.
Her outfit it a nice change from Biker Shorts and short skirts.
 
I don't like the fact that they don't have Kris atall because if everything else is going to be original why miss out someone this important to the original.

Kris wasn't original. Only Gold was. And I don't see how Kris is so "important to the original." What made her special?
 
i admit, she is growing on me- at least she isn't genderly undefinable (bugsy, i'm looking at you)
and even her hat is a little less annoying to me

Red and Leaf looks like Lucas and Dawn and they are different character. Leaf has brown hair and Dawn has blue hair. Red had brown hair which is dark brown to light brown and Lucas has dark blue hair. It is also known that Lucas and Dawn share most of their default names with Red and Leaf as well. So some people probably see it that way with Kris and the HGSS girl.
