Well I've never even seen an actual pretzel in real life lol.

Hardly ever seen pretzels outside of cartoons, but from what I've gathered they're just shaped salty sticks? Not what i had immediately had in mind.

I also thought for a long time that donuts were crunchy, like large, savory cheerios. Not that I had had cheerios at the time, but the snack I actually had in mind doesn't exist outside of Sweden to my knowledge.

Pretzels come in different shapes and sizes. They come as sticks but they're mostly found as twisty fun looking things (no, not in that way) and looks a little like the symbol for peace (the hippy one). Google "Pretzel".

What snack did you really have in mind? Now I'm curious >~<

Apparently it's deep fried did that's quite sweet and tastes amazing. From what I've gathered, it's sort of like a sweet pretzel?

I dunno if I'd call it a pretzel. In terms of texture and taste, it's closer to a donut. But it's not a donut. Or, to closer push what it is, think deep-fried dough covered in powdered sugar. <- that's funnel cake.

Really? Wow, the thought of pretzels not being commonplace just boggles my mind.

I wouldn't say "salty sticks", exactly. They can be sticks, but generally they have a specific pattern, a pattern that has such a pavlovian effect on people, if you shaped anything in the form of that same pattern, "pretzel" would generally come to mind, first. But they aren't always salted and usually come in flavors. And as for what one tastes like...that's...a tough question. Not one I could answer, because even to me, what they are, exactly, is hard to pinpoint.

But they generally come in two types: Soft and Hard. Hard is to snack foods as Soft is to pure delight and luxury.

670 I like big Pretzels, but not the small ones in chip bags

673.

I've been to a few fairs, and my friends always get funnel cakes.

And you know what happens. I get force fed a mouthful because "Oh my gosh, you've never had one before? You need to eat this right now!"

I'd definitely not liken them to a pretzel, and to a doughnut only in taste. What really comes to mind for me are andagi, but y'all probably haven't been to Okinawa before.

Let's just say that andagi are like crispy doughnuts, and funnel cake is like thin strands of andagi looped into a cobweb shape with a bunch of confectioner's sugar poured on top. And the sugar gets really messy if you don't eat it correctly.

Never even had andagi (or even seen it, really), but this is definitely the closest we'll probably get to describing funnel cake without saying "It's funnel cake."

Another attempt: It's like taking your standard fresh-out-of-the-oven sugar doughnut and making it as crispy as cake doughnuts while still keeping it hot.

It's tasty, but if you eat too much you will feel sick. But maybe that's just me.

Funnel cake is... Well the one time I had it it was nice. But that's really all I have to say about it.

Honestly I don't even know if we have snacks that can be considered to be somewhat like a pretzel... Like, I know a lot of the traditional snacks that we see in my home country, even if I don't know most of their names haha.
