On a related note, in relation to the Twilight franchise I've heard a lot of people say that #real #vampires #don't #sparkle. I disagree tbh.

Speaking of Twilight, I love how people rag on vampires today and cite Twilight as an example of how they've changed when, really, it's mostly exclusive to that and lesser works (after all, Our Vampires are Different has been a thing for literally centuries). And also Twilight is old.

The book series' pretty old, too.

Well, it's more because of it's popularity. If it was just a movie/book, nobody would've cared. But it somehow became this breakout success to the likes that really hadn't been seen since Harry Potter as far as Teen-Kid lit goes.

Public disdain is directly proportionate to popularity, after all.

... and Macho made me realize how long ago I was in high school by mentioning how old the Twilight book series has become. First book celebrated its 10th anniversary back in October. I was a high school freshman when it released.

Speaking of, I was thinking about this recently...when does the "Again" refer to? Because Pre-50s, quality of life and freedom of creativity SUCKED in America. And post-50s we had immigration and a boon in racism that never really dropped. And in both, mindsets were limited as all get out. Far as I'm concerned, being an American from the 80s going to now to the future is probably the most fun and the healthiest (both mentally and physically) that it's ever been.

We're in decline at the moment. People had a hell of a lot more financial freedom in the not too distant past, big brother wasn't watching us [as closely] and anime was still good. Although I guess you could say that some of the social stuff has improved a lot during the 4 or 5 decades. We are living in an era where poor people can be comfortable.

Trump is a wealthy man, I can't imagine too many eras where he wouldn't have had a great time. America has done some okay things though, like land on the moon and produce some pretty nice elements in the musical spectrum. Just ignore the bit where they've tried to overthrow close to 60 foreign governments in their relatively short lifespan.

America is pretty damn un-American of you're looking at the country through 'American dream' goggles and some of the things it was supposed to be. Although I guess if a country has bastard parents it isn't surprising it would grow up to be a bastard itself [not that it took long for you guys].

Britain is just America lite nowadays, as I've said before we're a glorified US missile base. It's even more noticeable when the conservatives are in. They're currently in the process of privatising our education system. Honestly, they used to at least try to be a bit sneaky about things like this, they're brazen nowadays. My theory is [I might have actually posted this in here before] that Thatcher's ghost has played a part in powering up DC.

I suppose that's why people think America's gone to shit. Which is pretty silly to me.

America sucked pre-70s/80s. While I applaud this idea of a country filled with hope and the pursuit of it, we see far more of that in today's youth through far less aggressive means than we ever have in the past. The American Dream back then was a joke anyway, and it only really applied if you were male and white. I vastly prefer the variety of today to the homogenization of yesterday.

Stop blaming the country for all of your problems and make some kind of attempt to fix it. Sheesh. I love this place for reasons, but sometimes...

But, to the whole Britain being America-lite thing, I suppose they can as long as no one's going to stop 'em. 'S pretty funny how often lately I've seen government and, I suppose, larger companies look smug in the face of their citizens/consumers and play with their own nips while screwing them.

Not sure if funny's the right word, exactly.

Isn't america going to shit because pussy liberals wanting the bbc and greedy youth wanting a living wage? Funny isn't the right word but I suppose if you didn't laugh you might cry.

I presume you don't follow our politics too closely so here are some more things that the current government are doing. Strongarming people into accepting zero-hour work contracts and then parading their employment figures. Cutting benefits from those that genuinely need them, the disabled have taken the most recent hit. In regards to benefits, people have been found dead after sanctions thanks to both starvation and suicide. Selling government shares [most recently Royal Bank of Scotland shares] making huge losses. Privatising whatever they can. Going to 'war' when a huge number of people outside of their little bubble wouldn't have wanted, I know we vote in people to make decisions but that was too big. Using big headlines about WAR and stopping ISIS [we sell guns to Saudi Arabia and guess where ISIS get guns from] to make it seem as if they are doing something useful when really they're just ignoring real issues and making themselves money.

Do something about it them would be the response from a lot of people but what can you do against the lizard people that are the ruling class. I'm just a normal person [well].
