Which Pokemon are more powerful/useful than they are given credit for?

The Pokemon that inspired this thread was my Politoed. I rarely hear of people using the Poli evolutionary line. I caught a Poliwag a few minutes after I recieved my Old Rod. It became my team's leading fighter pretty quick, he even took on the Elite 4 practically by himself.
I never thought of using a Poliwag before, but I can honestly say the entire evolutionary line has won a special place in my heart.

Tropius is another Pokemon that deserves a second look. I have one on Pearl and it ended up being one of the most powerful Pokemon I have ever used. They are hard to find in most games, but worth it once you have them. A little training can make this Pokemon practically unstoppable.

Hey, I used the Poli line! >=O

Anyway, I also use underused Pokemon. Tis the reason I'm using Pokemon in my new walkthrough, using ones I don't normally have. Here they are: Magby, Elekid, Totodile, Bellsprout, Dratini, Larvitar. I normally don't use them in battle, but I really like them. So, I'll evolve them and beat this game.

I think Furret is barely used as well.

ive used Poliwag through Poliwrath ever since i read the Pokemon Adventures Manga:Red. i never made poliwhirl into a politode always a poliwrath cuz Red had one in the manga

I think Furret was amazing back in G/S/C, mainly because he could learn Ice, Fire, and Thunder Punch, which helped out immensely. If he could still do this, I'd use him, and maybe some more people would too?

Also, I agree with the Poli's being underused. They're pretty useful imo.

I think Jumpluff's pretty good. It's fast, and inflict status conditions, and then can U-turn out for something else.

I would have to say that one of my personal favorites is Geodude's line. Geodude is pretty, Graveler gets better, but a Golem...the defense is amazing, and with the right nature, can be a definite power-house. :D

I have always wanted to use the Jumpluff line, they are some of my favorite Pokemon. I caught a Hoppip in the beginning of the game and planned to train it but I ended up sending it to my Pokewalker instead, which is where it is now.

After this run I'm going to do the monotype challenge with grass Pokemon, maybe I'll save my Hoppip and train it then.

Sudowoodo. His attack and defense stats are great, and he learns quite a few good physical moves, but I never see people using him.

Nidoking is my favorite! He seems to be underused, though I don't know what tier he actually fits into.

This isn't really about HG/SS, so I'm just going to shift this on over to Pokémon General.

I would think that one of the most overlooked Pokémon would probably be Urasring. You don't see many people using it, however it is quite a strong Pokémon when you look at it. I am one who doesn't use it much either, as I do have preferences to other Pokémon more, though it just stood out to me when I thought about the subject at hand here. Although, there are many more on the list, some mentioned already.

I have never seen anybody use a Slowking. I have one and his Specs and Def are off the charts! His Att and Spd could use some work though... Anyways! I'm the only person in my middle school that uses a Slowking and I love them! I nicknamed mine Kingston!

I plan to evolve my Slowpoke into a Slowking when I have the chance. You're right Slowking is a powerful and very interesting Pokemon.

Wooper/Quagsire. I've never heard of anyone using them before, but the water/ground combination is unstoppable.

Tentacruel is often overlooked because of how common and annoying its unevolved form is, but if you give it a chance, it can wall most special attacks and it can also make a decent special sweeper. not to mention the infamous GenI Toxic/Wrap lock >:D
