Paranormal: A Mind-Bending Story
The Story
Psionics...The ability to influence the world around you with only the power of your mind. Sounds good, doesn't it? It's very potent stuff, from reading minds to moving objects. However, it's pretty scary. Those with power will often torment those without. However, when the shoe is on the other foot, things reverse. When the powerless outnumber the powerful, the powerful becomes the powerless.
The time is modern day. Psionics are a well-kept government secret, a recent mutation in humankind...In this generation. The few that have been born with psionic powers are realizing their potential, and as such, are discriminated against. Thusly, they must keep their powers secret, or go into hiding...
The US government has created a branch, the P.R.R.B (Psionic Research and Response Bureau), to learn about and deal with the newly found psychics. Their agents infiltrate society and probe around for the anomalies. Only the highest powers in the federal government, and members of the branch itself, know of the psychics' existence.
Even beyond the threat of discrimination and capture, more darkness lurks, lying in wait for our young, gifted boys and girls. Monstrous, mysterious figures threaten human society without them even knowing it. Soon, the world will fall upon its knees and depend on The Gifted.
So, will you use your gifts to help humanity and win their acceptance? Or will you use it to lash out against those who hated and feared you? The choice is yours.
So, where do you fit in all of this? Well, you're a gifted high school student at Thistlehood Creek High, Anytown, USA. Do you already know of your powers? Or are they lying in wait, ready to reveal themselves to you when you are prepared? Well, that's up to you. Before we embark on this roleplaying adventure, let's take a look at some powers, shall we?
Telepathy: The ability to read minds at its most basic. Early on, without training, the telepath will be bombarded constantly by the thoughts of those around him. Later on, though, a seasoned telepath can turn his power on and off, as well as focus it onto a single person.
Telepathy can also be used for mental attacks, eg. Mind Control. Another way of using telepathy is creating illusions that only the target can see, whether they be ghosts from their past, or creations from the telepath's mind.
Far Sight: The ability to see beyond one's self. Allows you to view distant locations with no vantage point (EG, inside the warehouse down the road while you're laying down in bed).
Hyperregeneration: The ability to quickly cause cell reproduction, allowing you to heal yourself and others.
Telekinesis: The powerful ability to project pure force or move objects with one's mind. A telekinetic, with training, can also levitate him or herself.
Pyrokinesis: The ability to excite molecules, causing them to combust and explode. Creates fires, explosions, extra.
Cyrokinesis: The ability to decelerate, causing them to freeze and solidify. Your ice tree.
Hydrokinesis: The ability to control water, water vapor, and a bit of ice.
Electrokinesis: The ability to control electricity, electrons, etc.
Photokinesis: The ability to control light and electromagnetic radiation.
Atmokinesis: Control over weather and clouds.
Geokinesis: Control over earth, soil, and rock.
Here is the Template. Fill one out, and I'll accept or decline it.

My Character
Name : Ray Black
Picture :
Age : 16
Power : Cyrokinesis
Have You Discovered Your Power? : Yes.
When Ray was about ten years old, taking a bath, he made his shocking discovery. He found himself in water that was far too hot, and willed with all of his mind that it would be cooler. Ray got what he wanted, but far more than he bargained for. The bathwater froze solid, encasing the boy's lower body inside an ice cube. He screamed for help, and his parents, while shocked, eventually melted the ice cube with concentrated hair dryer firepower and yanked the kid out. Ray had a terrible cold for three weeks after, but he realized there was something different about him...
Right now, his control over his power is limited. He can avoid freezing things against his rational will, like the bathtub incident, but he can't fully focus his powers. He'll need a lot of training before he can do that. However, Ray has decided to leave his power be and attempt to live as a normal teenager, unless he has a reason to think otherwise.
Personality : Ray has a pretty good heart and usually looks out for his peers. Those who know him think he's pretty reliable. However, due to his 'gift,' he is reclusive and antisocial, especially in large gatherings.
Ray is strong-willed and determined when it comes to achieving his goals. However, women represent a powerful vice for the young bag of hormones. Also, Ray suffers from what nearly every teen suffers from : chronic laziness.
All in all, Ray's just another awkward teenager.
Biography : Ray lived a really simple, quiet life. Aside from the whole bathtub-freezing-incident, of course. He grew up in a simple nuclear family, a mother, a father, and an obnoxious older brother who gave him regular beatings and usually smelled of cigarettes.
Nevertheless, he had a good family that brought up him well. However, they could neither understand nor support him for his strange freezing power. No matter how much love his family gave him, they still could not truly connect with the boy.
In school, Ray was generally a quiet boy. He never had any friends, really, until the 10th grade. Aside from that, he lived the normal life of internet binges, crushing on ditzy, well-endowed cheerleaders, and passing Biology.
However, his power sometimes manifests at random, outside of his control. And, sometimes he needs to use it. People often look at him strangely as rumors spread. Strange incidents have taken place all over the school, including the air conditioner freezing over, frost dripping from the chemistry lab's taps, and a single, frozen toilet in the boy's bathroom. And that's not all...A few petty crooks have been found...with their feet and hands frozen.
Now, Ray just spends his days avoiding suspicion and attempting to pass Advanced Statistics as he continues to spend way too much time on the internet.
