Just so you all know, you MAY still see a CloudFlare page but likely not due to PC being overloaded but more along the lines of security risk and your ISP's IPs being in blocks with known exploiters/hackers (a security thing that CF also does for us) and may have to enter a captcha still if this is the case.

We do believe tht this new server will be able to handle all PC can throw at it but just remember, in the beginning we'll be fine-tuning it as well as optimizing the systems and you may see lag or non-responsive pages for a bit. well at least until we get the server dialed in :p

Oh... it's ok, I don't mind treated with captchas if it is ever prompted again. Thanks for the explanations Rukario.

Oh good lord, All I hope is that I can come back from the dead before this happens. O.O

This server upgrade will be the longest 3 days of my life.

i remember another forum i use upgraded its forum software and everything took like a week because the owner got a JavaScript error of some sort.

Hopefully that won't happen to PC or I will cry my eyes out. ;~;

I'm very happy to hear that PC is getting a brand new server. That means that Donating to PC has definitely paid off and helped. That being said, we still shouldn't be not donating whatever spare money we have at our hands--PC will keep getting better and better in time that is a guaranteed fact.

A thanks to all Supporters who've donated to PC up until now~
To all users: Start donating whenever you can possibly can! :)

Nice job. :)

Now just get rid of the themes with tons of/gigantic images and your server will like you even more. :3

I look forward to a snappy server serving pages snappily without much fuss, unlike what I've seen in the past. I hope things do go smoothly for you guys to the point that new features are made available simply because the load is low enough to not have the servers keel over.

Nice job. :)

Wouldn't that be called "feature loss"? If things go right, there would be less pressing need to remove these styles.

Besides, I'm pretty sure "very fancy forum styling that somewhat stresses the browser engines and GPUs" is probably PokéCommunity's trademark at this point. :P

So,that's 24GB RAM, 2xNehalem Xeons(17,6Ghz toghether[4 cores at 2.2GHz=8.8GHz]+[4 cores at 2.2GHz=8.8GHz]),1TB HDD(poor choice- I would go for 4 SSD's at 256GB instead+are the HHDs RAIDed or are they acting as separate HDDs?).That looks preety good for me.

You have a SAS backplane, but you didn't list any SAS drives. Are you going to be moving the database to the SATA drives?

So,that's 24GB RAM, 2xNehalem Xeons(17,6Ghz toghether[4 cores at 2.2GHz=8.8GHz]+[4 cores at 2.2GHz=8.8GHz]),1TB HDD(poor choice- I would go for 4 SSD's at 256GB instead+are the HHDs RAIDed or are they acting as separate HDDs?).That looks preety good for me.
Those drives are most likely going to be set up in a RAID1 to allow for one of the drives to fail. What I have set up for my VM Host is similar, but I have 11 76GB 15k RPM SAS drives set up in a RAID6 for VM Storage.

I have no clue how to read server lingo, but I'm trusting Livewire that this new server will make PC run much faster and smoother. Good luck with moving guys!
