PC WiFi Tournament

ito beat me in our match so im gone

Someone should actually do odds based one past performances and record and stuff like that. It would be kinda fun. =P

I suggested that we should have a PC wifi ladder so people would have a little incentive to battle more, kinda like they do on shoddy, but no one responded to my idea =(

that would be pretty cool, but how would it be set up.
 
So you mean some kind of rating for each person based on how far they've gotten here in the past? Hmmm...it does sound interesting. ^_^

I do have a Notepad file on my computer where I've been storing all the results from the past tournies, so it could be done. Though the one thing I won't be able to do is extensive searches on name changes, XD.

Well, I was gone from Pokémon for a week, but now, I'll be here at least everyday. So anytime you're ready, VM me up.

And I second Aura's idea. A Wi-Fi ladder would go well here on PC... ​

I'm sure it could be done fairly easily in excel if not just calculated by hand. I know I wouldn't mind doing it. I'm almost positive it would get people battling a bit more. Plus it would be fun! =D

It's tourney #7 already, so I'm sure we could find a nice pile of data to compile a history of past tournaments. I'd be willing to help if you actually wanted to do it.

So are you thinking of raw data or a little more. For example:

With the "little more" explaining this, in perhaps a little better detail:

I battled in three tournies, of which I lost in Round One twice(1 point each) and got to Round Two in the third(2 points). XD

Lol, well I already ran the idea by multiple staff members without a response. I'd hate to be annoying. Although I can't imagine a simple yes/no would be too hard to muster. XD

Well a point system would work fine I think...Like a point for actually entering in a tourney, 2 for getting past round one, 4 for getting past round two, ect.
 
I like this idea. I'm sooooooo close to being ready for my match.

Oh, that idea wasn't for the wifi tournament. The thing I PMd to staff was the PC Wifi ladder idea. For that, I was just going to suggest that there could be an official thread where people could report their scores. Matches in the quick battle thread or even tournament matches could still go towards the official ladder standings as long as both battlers confirmed the score. Then the results would be added and, much like the ratings on Shoddy, there would be a leader board with the highest win percentages. I don't think it would be too hard to take care of...Just a lot of number crunching and stuff, but once again, I have plenty of time on my hands, so I wouldn't mind doing it at all. Like I said, I think it could be fun for everyone and a good incentive to have some battles and liven this place up a bit ;D

As for the actual wifi tournament standings, I think a point system would work ok, kind of like what you were saying. Although it would have to be worked out a little more precisely to make sure it was fair. But it is your tournament, so I don't want to make any decisions for you. XD
