I'm not sure what the writers will do with her. They might have a side journey, but when the new region comes around, she'll probably go somewhere else.

I highly doubt that Dawn will appear too much in the next generation. Don't forget that May got new clothes too and she even wore them in some episodes of Diamond & Pearl. Dawn will more likely than not meet the characters in the next generation wearing her Platinum clothes. They'll switch Dawn for the new female character.

The new girl will be the next female trainer in the series, not counting remakes if we get them. Her name will be whatever her in-game default name is.

Thus, she could lose and come back later and win. But then, you can't expect her to win ever time she enters a contest... I never know with Dawn how well she'll do!

From Bulbapedia. I hope it's true, personally. But seriously, she'd still be cold in that coat. I mean, she has nothing covering her legs still. If I went out in the snow like that, I'd turn blue. Unless she's wearing 80 Denier flesh coloured tights. Or I'm reading into it too much... XD
