Perks versus responsibility

I would choose to become a moderator again, given the chance. There's no denying that the most fun I had as a member of this community was when I was a moderator and I'll freely admit that I miss it. Plus, there's always a feeling that the rank of supporter is bought, while the rank of moderator is earned after considerable hard work within the community.

As for the whole perk argument: I feel like the perks you get as a supporter (of any tier) don't match the ones you get as a moderator. If you have a forum that you enjoy posting in, then modding it makes the experience of becoming a PokeCommunity member oh-so different - in a positive aspect, of course. Not to mention, for me personally, I never really use large avatars (I always prefer 100 x 100), I've never even used larger profile pictures, and I don't utilise PokeCommunity's album system (I much prefer Flickr). So the perks you do get as a tier-6 supporter don't even matter to me.

PokeCommunity has always interested me, and the community is amazing. The reason I donated because I firmly believe in this site, and wish to help it grow and stay alive as much as I can.

With that being said, I think being a mod would be great. I'd love to help around the forum, trying to make the community the best it can be. I do like the extra perks, but that's not the reason I donated. I don't even know how to get my PokeCommunity e-mail or anything, so It's not like they're the most important things.

I've played on both sides of the fence; though I donated to the site because I wanted to do more than just be an active member of the site and give a little bit extra; at the time I donated, the perks were kind-of incentive, but first and foremost was wanting to give to the community in as many ways I could. Of course were I in a better position, I'd likely donate more in an instant, but without a reliable income for lack of a job, I can't exactly do that reliably.

I accepted the moderator position for similar reasons-- kind of. It was another way to give back to the community in moderating one of its sections, and something that I felt honoured to have been chosen to do. But unfortunately, circumstances led to my inactivity and obvious demotion, which I was a little saddened by, but knew that it was something that needed to be done, considering I couldn't be that reliable a person, any more.

Of course, I'd say 'yes' to retaining that position in a heartbeat-- the chance to give back to the community once again as an active member and moderator is greater than any perk any level of donation can give, but... then there's that one logical side of me that points out I'd never be able to work at it reliably, considering how unreliable a member of the forums I have been over the past year+. It would probably be something I would have to regretfully turn down if given the chance again. I felt I'd let down, not just the staff who believed in me, but also the community when I inexplicably disappeared, and I wouldn't want to do the same to everyone, again.

For tier 6, I'm not sure I'd really be that bothered about the perks; any donations that got me to that point would be me giving back to the community any way I can. I'm content in giving back to the community right now by trying to regain that activity I lost, back then. Live (or at the very least, mine) is too uncertain for me to say I'll succeed in that endeavour.

Is it bad I would just say moderator because everything looks better in bold than it does italics? :P

But in all seriousness, I've never been too fussed about the perks of donating, the only one I've found really useful is the huge PM inbox, as from Hacking/Mentees it tends to fill up quite quickly.

Please ignore the fact I just upgraded my avatar to 150*150

I'd like both, but if I had to choose I'd say Moderator since bold blue would look really cool on me and I have staff experience on another forum.

Being a mod would be nice since I like to help out anyone who asks me a question (and loads of new members like to approach me). Blue is one of my fave colors and also many members think I should be a mod in the future and the perks of staff aren't much different from supporters anyway.

Also, most of my avatars are mainly the same size.
