My friend was talking to me the other day about one of the greatest moments in Pokemon games for her; when she made it to the top of Mt Silver only to find Red there. She hadn't known he was there before, so finding out through battle was awesome.

What did you think of seeing the old protagonist at the top of Mt Silver? Did you know he was there before you got to the top? Did you think Red was strong/weak/etc?

When I had first played Pokémon Silver, I didn't have any idea about him, and was quite surprised to him there. Was even more amused when he challenged me without even saying a word. I didn't save prior to facing him, unfortunately, and at that time, I wasn't prepared to battle Red at all; as you could probably tell, I wound up losing, haha.

Had no premonition of him being there, so once I defeated the champion, I just assumed it was over, haha. Later on, my friends alerted me of Red's presence on Mt. Silver, and naturally I had to check it out. My Pokemon were all pretty high level, so once I encountered him and challenged him to a battle, I didn't have too much trouble taking him down, but it definitely felt like the true ending of Johto's story, in-game at least.

Nope I had completely no idea he was there when I first played Crystal :P I thought he would only get mentioned and that's all, but I was kinda surprised seeing him there on Mt.Silver. I lost the first time since I wasn't really prepared and second time I lost because many of my moves missed :x Third time I finally beat him, didn't have much trouble xD

I found it very interesting to see him at the top of the mountain, and he was by far my favorite part of GSC, going against an opponent that used starters and some bulky foes alongside them. It really is an awesome fight. And don't forget that silence!

Very interesting. I had a feeling we would see Red again but didn't expect it to be a grand finale like it was. I didn't expect to challenge the kanto gyms again either. I was never curious about the silence since he was always silent in RBY.

His team was quite good. I liked how he had Espeon. I thought it was interesting how the first gen made it look like he was in a cave but the remakes showed that he was actually on the top of a snowy mountain. This part of the game really makes me want to explore Mt. Fuji in Japan.

It was quite annoying that he said nothing, though, I really was interested whether he honours me or something :D

I was the first of my friends to reach Red. I think I knew he was there because my friend had a guide that told me so. He was much easier to take down than I anticipated; I actually turned off my game when I dealt the final blow to him because I didn't want the game to be "over" so soon.

I thought that placing Red at Mt. Silver provided great continuity with RBY, and I was glad to see him there. I liked how he continued his role as a silent protagonist, never speaking, just like the player never really does anything besides say yes or no.

When I first played Gold, I'm pretty sure I had no idea he was there, even when I was interacting with others who had likely gotten further than me. So needless to say, I was really surprised to see him there, and even more surprised at how strong his team was! iirc, I didn't even beat him the first time, and it took me a bit to finally bring him down. Afterward, he was much easier to defeat. That being said, I've found that this doesn't change even in future games. I recently did and completed a challenge on Crystal that required me to beat Red, and my team was at least 20 levels below his team members even after going through the Pokemon League a few times to boost their levels. Needless to say, I find that Red still poses a challenge when battling him for the first time.

Finding RED on top of Mt. Silver was both surprising and a little frightening. Unlike most people above, I had a late start into the older generations (first and second). I bought Gold online in 2007. And while I did play FireRed a few years prior, I never beat that (at the time of purchasing Gold) so I never had any post-completion thoughts about RED.

So, you know, I play through, beat both Gym circuits, beat Lance twice, and I'm like, "Now what?" I either got the memo from Oak or I rationalized that I should now be able to head West of the league. I was utterly oblivious to RED being there so understandably I freaked out when I found him and battled him at the peak. Yes, I lost. Yes, I was very under-leveled. When I did eventually beat him, I grew an odd respect for him. To this day, we've yet to find other in-game trainers with that kind of power. A "trainer" with strength that even the game's Champion would easily be crushed under? That's just... astounding. I oddly feel like I'm fanboy-ing saying that...
