I am glad that they didn't make up new pokemon... it would be pointless...

The release is Spring 2009 and it is worth your time... more quests, more trainers, longer storyline, Torn World, 7 new pokemon formes, better Eterna Building, Torn World, yeah, it is worth your time.

OK thanks that's what I wanted to know. Now...how do I wait til Spring 2009?! And, are contests the same format as in Pearl?

Yup.
Contests are the same.
However, there's Wi-fi contests (me thinks).

Yeah, ye think there be Wii-fii contests, but me think differently... I doubt there are Wi-Fi contests, maybe Serebii knows...

Just checked Serebii.
Didn't say anything, so I probably wrong.

The Resort Home & Fly

Once the Platinum hero / heroine has reached the Resort Area, does it become a "target" for Fly?

I can't wait for Platinum! I really like the style of D/P. I also love the new forms. My personal favorite is the Giratina Origin form.

Does anyone know the release date?

Yes, you can use Fly to get to those island areas after you first reach them.

Does the japanese version work on an american DS?

~Night

Actually, I seem to remember hearing somewhere that to play Japanese carts, you have to import a Japanese DS, but it might have been PS2s that I was hearing about. Although I do know Flashcarts play Japanese ROMs on American DS'.

That would have been PS2s. Nintendo's handhelds aren't region protected. However, the games themselves are - although you can trade between Japanese Platinum and English D/P, you can't migrate from an English game to it or use it with an English PBR.

your lucky it doesn't come out in australia till next year for the love of god!

You may want to wait until 2009, unfortunately. You can just get a flashcard and beat the game, Giratina is the only problem, though.

Does anyone know of a site that lists all the changes from Diamond / Pearl to Platinum? IE Zapdos has heat wave now, etc?

Or does someone know all of them?

Or is there an invisible sticky about this somewhere that I need to find?

Well, Smogon has a section discussing all of the new moves for each Pokemon, and how they might effect the metagame. (And no one flame me for mentioning Smogon either, seeing as how I haven't really heard of any other sites that are doing the same thing >:o ) So yeah, you could probably just check there if you're interested. As for the other changes, Google is your best friend. :/

Actually, I believe Serebii already updated their Pokedex with the new Platinum moves, if you want to check there instead.

They did, but I don't believe they actually listed the changes so that you could see what has changed exactly. I think they just updated them. :/

They still have the original D/P moves listed separately, so you can compare the lists for a specific Pokemon if you want to see what changed for it. If you want a single go-to list for all of the Pokemon at once, though (for whatever reason), then yeah, Smogon's probably your best bet.
