All right, I'll PM him. Hopefully he'll do really good.

Awesome I've got Wattson! Can't wait to play. Wait a second, the game's there right? .sgm is what I want? And I'd like to say, I love the fact that we started raising a Taillow.

its not the .sgm.. damnit.. red didnt post the .sg1... which is what you need to upload the save file. PM him and tell him that.

That explains why it wasn't working. Also, I haven't ever done this before, so I just have to put the .sg1 in the same directory as the Ruby ROM and it'll play how I want it to, right?

EDIT: I PMed him, does he come online often?

who knows... but mess ups are annoying... sorry but I'm obsessed with avatar at the moment...

You do know that sgm and sg1 are the same thing dont you?

Then how do you apply the sg1 or sgm to the ROM?

Same as always. Except rename the file type.

Change ruby.sgm to ruby.sg1 if you want sg1 type save file.

Or you could just open Ruby and then click Control+L and then select on the .sgm file.

Okay, I did that, twice even and both times this came up:

[PokeCommunity.com] Play, Power, Pass.

Then there's probably something wrong with the save file. I'll try it.

The .sgm file is crap. There is a difference between the files. The .sg1 is the file that works.

it's probably because the version of VBA he's using. i'm looking at the file and it says he's using v9.

i haven't even bothered of looking into updating the 1.8 (aka v8) i have now because it does its job, so i didn't know there was a v9.

It is, the whole thing is screwed up because of the version he uses. Save files dont work backwards unfortunately.

Samson, there's no such thing as a v9 VBA, I'm using either 1.7.2 or 1.8 there, I don't know. I can try again making sure I use v1.8

EDIT: Should I actually be pressing New Game and THEN Ctrl+L? Or just whenever I want I just Ctrl+L.

1.8v wont work... I've tried it. With the same result as your screenshot.
1.7v wont even read the file.

It does say v9 even if it isnt offical.

Yeah, I haven't tried with v9 as Samson thinks I did. I've tried with v7.2 and just now with v8

Has v9 been released? I've havent had a look for ages.

Me n'either, I'll just look right now. I'll edit this post to let you know.

EDIT: The latest news posted was on October 1st 2005. It was releasing the third beta for v8, which I haven't downloaded. Therefore there is no v9.

Wow... then that's really weird. Because the save file does say v9.... well "unsupported game version 9"

hmm.. thats probably not good.. and yeah, sgm and sg1 are basicly the same, only sg1 has a different format that actually works in the VBA....only.. when its a different version save file which i dont even know how thats possible, it wont work.. at all..
