Pokédexes

By the way, do you guys think Alola Forms will count as the same Pokemon in the Dex?

By the way, do you guys think Alola Forms will count as the same Pokemon in the Dex?

there'll probably be a key item or something that allows them to change forms like the reveal glass for the genies

Personally I think the Alola forms are their own Pokemon. Meaning regular Vulpix evolve into regular Ninetales and Alola Vulpix evolve into Alola Ninetales.

Same with Exeggcute, only Exeggcute caught in Alola will evolve into Alola Exeggcutor, Exeggcute from Kalos or Hoenn or Sinnoh or Unova all evolve into regular Exeggcutor.

I think the Alola form will appear in the Pokedex if you see it first then the regular will appear if you trade it over first.

I like how in the games, your starting goal from the very beginning is to complete the Pokedex, but that goal get less and less irrelevant as the story goes on.

I feel like the method Gen I used was pretty good, how they would give you stuff based upon how many Pokemon you've caught, but I believe I saw someone complaining about the same.
Gen V (and beyond?) have the Charms you can get for completing the Dexes. It's all a matter of opinion, of course, but I would like to see some rewards that kick in sooner than hundreds of entries in, as well. Something in between would be perfect (still with the Shiny Charm at full National Dex, though)

Have you completed any Pokédexes? How many?

I've completed all of the Pokedexes from Gen I to Gen V. Currently working on Gen VI, having a few issues with that.

Is it something you try to achieve in your playthroughs?

Very much so, for some reason, it just feels like it is a necessity to having the right to say "Yes, I did it! I beat Pokemon _____________".

What do you actually think of the device itself? Cool idea or no?

The Pokedex itself is a really interesting program, but also makes no sense as to why you have to capture said Pokemon in order to complete the Pokedex. I mean seriously, if the Pokedex knows about every Pokemon in that region to begin with, why would you need to capture any of them except for obviously beating trainers and so forth? All and all, it is an interesting program, but faulty at best.

If yes, why?

I just like the idea of the Pokedex being an encyclopedia of sorts.

If no, how come and what would your replacement be?

N/A

Have you ever owned a Pokédex yourself?

Ha ha, to be honest, I actually own one of the very first "pokedex" toys that they gave out years ago. Truthfully, I like the idea of it, and it looks really cool, but kind of sucks to be honest. The sounds in it are garbage, the display is garbage, and the overall machine itself breaks easily.

Have you completed any Pokédexes? How many?

The number is 0! Yup... Never completed a Pokédex... It's just ..... You really need to put A LOT of effort to do so, and I'm super LAZY.

Is it something you try to achieve in your playthroughs?

Yes, when I do start a new game, I always think to myself: " I'm going to complete the Pokédex this time", but I always give up. As I said, you need to put a lot of effort to do this, and , as generations pass, more and more Pokémon are added, and it seems to get even more difficult :/

What do you actually think of the device itself? Cool idea or no?If yes, why?
It's an awesome idea. It lets us record Pokémon we've seen, and Pokémon we've captured. Also, it gives pretty good information about their lore, which I'm always interested, since Pokémon are living beings as well, just like us, animals, plants, who all have their caracteristics. I like the Anime's Pokédex a lot too.

Have you ever owned a Pokédex yourself?

Nope >:

Have you completed any Pokédexes? How many?
Not yet.........hmm.....maybe it'll take a long time :(
Is it something you try to achieve in your playthroughs?
I have to say "No" again. :(
What do you actually think of the device itself? Cool idea or no?
Yep.... very cool
If yes, why?
It's just like I have a collection of posters, cards, badges or something like that. It brought me back to 1990s
Have you ever owned a Pokédex yourself?
Oh no, Pokemon Go is my first time i've learn about Pokédex

By the way, do you guys think Alola Forms will count as the same Pokemon in the Dex?

I would imagine that they would, but they would count as different formes. They are, after all, the same Pokemon, just with different types. Kind of how Shellos Blue and Shellos Pink are both Shellos but have different entries.

That would actually be an interesting reward! For completing the Pokedex, say, in later generations, you would probably get something like a rare legendary. :o Maybe even a shiny legendary would be even better! ^_^

I feel like this is a problem with the PokeDex, in most of the games there isn't really that big of an incentive to actually complete the Dex. The original Pokemon games and their remakes are a perfect example of this, the game is mainly centered around completing the Pokedex and if you manage to do that, you get what? A star on your trainer card? So something like a shiny legendary would be amazing.

Let's talk about the Pokedex

Hey guys

Do you try to complete the Pokedex in every games?
Do you still try to complete a Pokedex in an older game

Just some thought I got after I took a look at my Y's Pokedex. I completed the ex and now I do the Sinydex. It's sad that I don't have the newest Pokemon, but my shinydex is well started and I don't want to start it all over again (I don't do a living dex).

Hi there! Since this topic is geared towards the games, I'm gonna move this over to Pokémon Gaming Central. We happen to have a PokéDex thread there already so I'll go ahead and merge the two of 'em too. :)

I'm really hoping I can complete my Dex in the next set of games after doing so in both Gen 6 titles. Can't wait for the challenge. 8)

Oops, sorry but thanks! :)

I totally respect them who makes a living Dex. Its awesome and I won'T have the patience hehe

I'm almost done with my living dex in Y but I'm worried if I transfer them to Sun and Moon I won't be able to put them back in Y. If you caught them in Y they should still be able to go in Y even after being in Sun and Moon
