Yeah. Metal Coat is used to evolve Onix. Just use it directly on it. Buy it at the Mondelo Department Store.

You can carry over your old save, just drag and drop the file into the new 'save' folder. Everything should load and work fine.

The only thing that's restricted of the starters is their shininess.
Also you should be able to download. That's what google drive tells me.
