    Pokémon Burning Crystal
GOLD: Ugh... Another Johto remake? ESMAS: Not really... See for yourself!

    ~ Intro Message ~
About me... Not really the reason you came here, eh?

Hi! My name is Esmas... I'm here to show you my second Ruby hack. After the 'death' of Green Tree Edition, this is what I'm here to show you!

Anyways, it started out in YouTube. I had typed in 'Pokémon Gold' and I found a video about Shiny Gold. So I watched a video and... well, I was completely amazed. So I typed in 'Shiny Gold' this time, and found a video 'How to download Shiny Gold' by Foullump.
So I clicked on it, and followed it. Then I found this site, PC, and I learned how to hack. So thanks to all hackers who showed me examples, gave tutorials, etc.

    ~ Other Information ~
Technical data gathered about the hack.

    Hack Name: Pokémon Burning Crystal
    Author: EsMaS
    Hack of: Pokémon Ruby (U)
Language(s): English, *Spanish (if anyone can help translate it for me, please post here or PM me)*

    ~ Special Features ~
What makes the game more interesting... -_-

    - Completely new scripts...
    - New maps...
    - New Pokémon...
    - New events...
    - New palettes...
    - New tiles...
    - And much, much more!

    ~ The Storyline ~
Now, enter this world of Pokémon!

The game begins in, you guessed it, Johto. The game's basic story is the same as Gold, Silver and Crystal, but later into the gameplay you will experience much more.

    The beginning
You start in Newbark Town, a peaceful town at the edge of the Johto region, surrounded by fields of grass and bodies of water. One day you wake up in the middle of the day, and you go to Professor Elm's house. He says you deserve Pokémon, and gives you a choice between 3 Pokémon; Cyndaquil, Chikorita, and Totodile. Once you are done with your decision, Professor Elm asks a small favor of you. He says to go to Mr. Pokémon's house, where Professor Oak is over, and get a PokéDex from him. When you are about to exit, Professor Elm calls you back and says that he forgot to give you a PokéPhone, so he gives it to you. That's when you start your journey.

    The Middle
In the middle of your journey on your journey to Cianwood City as the gym leader of Olivine City, Jasmine's Ampharos is sick, so you must find a cure, you find an island known as the 'Seafoam Islands'. You decide to travel there, and you find a mountain, with a cave at the top. So you hike, and you finally get there. As you get near the entrance, you find a signpost... "!WARNING! You are about to enter Mt. BlackIce. Please be cautioned!" You heed the signpost's warning, but your curiosity gets the better of you and you continue on. Inside, you find a diary; a diary of a woman. You know it is rude to open up a woman's diary, but, again, your curiosity takes over. You open it (weirdly it has no lock), and you find a curious entry. "A boy by the name of Black travels here every day, with the intention of capturing the two legendary Salamence's... the purple and green. Be aware, this boy will do anything to find them, even kill someone... I do not have enough life in me to continue writing... so I wish good luck to whoever finds my diary." ...What will you do? We'll see!

    The Ending
    Sorry, none yet!

I'd love to see more of this :b
ohh, btw, issn't that overworld kike scott's? the the trainerbackpic?

So you decided on Burning Crystal? Good I like it!

    Here we go...
    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Burning Crystal

Looks good, but the alphabet's text should be brighter darker.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Burning Crystal

Text should be darker here (or is that black) Try brightening the interior, that might work.
I know you probably want to give the town a realistc feel by making it bigger, but now it kind of looks empty.
A few flowers should do the trick, and maybe a route (you know just like Pallet Town)
    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Burning Crystal

Lv.1 Pokémon in the wild? That's new. I'm sort of neutral about it though.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Burning Crystal

Maybe a different color for the floor, since the box is blue itself.

    That's all. Best of luck!
Hope you take these advice in consideration.

    Ah EsMaS,
Another good lookin' hack comin' from you!
    Hope this one doesn't die!
    I loved Green Tree Edition,
    And I love this one,
Soooooo.... I hope you don't quit this one!
    Well,
I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks guys, especially Darkkchild, your criticism is most helpful...
    Okay, let's get to work.

    1. Yes, I will change the color of that one.

    2. Yes, I will change the text box colors to much brighter, or maybe should I do it red? -_-

    3. Woops, forgot to change the level!

    4. Well, sure! What color should I change it to?

    Hey, EsMaS!
I think you should change the textbox to a reddish color....
You know to go with the theme...

Yeah, or maybe I will make the textbox background to light blue, and change the text itself to red.
    How's that sound?

That looks... amazing! Let me guess, you used MS Paint, right? (If you did, then I'll have to do ALL that work again... ;))

If you can't see the pic, Quote it and then copy and paste the image URL into your address bar.

Hehe no I used Adobe, but ya it's the same thing.

I always do this method to see the result before changing the palettes, it saves me lots of time.

FRLG and RSE sprites do not mix
Actually, in the image you sent me, none of the sprites are FRLG sprites, all of them are RSE sprites. And yes, they mix if you had them all in one screenshot, since you wouldn't know the difference.

EDIT: Darkkchild, I will put up the updates once I am done palette editing it.

Besides having what may be one of the most dramatic introductions in the history of Pokemon hacks, this baby looks like it has some potential. The palette changes look pretty nifty, though I'd still recommend a graphical overhaul to really give this game a kick in the right direction (like in Blue Sea Edition, to name a breathtaking example). But anyway, keep up the nice effort!

One more thing. Are you confident in your scripting abilities? :)

    Ah,
The colors of the Pokemon Center look.....
    Marvelous!
    Wonderful,wonderful!
I likey the way it is now!
    As always,
    BOL!

Looking good EsMaS. I love the story and the title. I'm looking foward to this getting completed because it will be very good.

    Thanks... Heheh.

First, yes I will change the graphics. I just need someone to at least give me and image (like make up a palette) and give it to me so I can give the changes. Right now I have no good palettes to change it to.

Last, yes, I am confident in my scripting abilities.

Oh, and I changed the text + background, so here is a screenshot:

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Burning Crystal

Now this is what I call "active development" (emphasis on active). I do like the new background. The red text is still a bit hard to read--maybe the letters are simply too thin. I believe there's a way to change the font, so perhaps a larger, bolder font change is in order. I would recommend keeping the color black and simply lightening the shade of blue in the textbox background.
