It's a tough battle, and I also struggled with it the first time around. My team the second time, all level 112 or above:

Garchomp
Gardevoir (mega)
Lucario (mega - yep, two megas)
Salazzle
Wiseraph (hard-hitter)
Petshop (MVP)

Petshop probably took 60%-70% of the health of that particular boss. My teammates took another 20-25%

The battle is one hell of a difficulty spike, and I think progression towards it could have been handled better.

Petshop was definitely helpful for me as well, but I mostly used him to nullify W.T.'s psychic type attacks and I pretty much won out of luck that he didn't use the ohko move while my fused empoleon was out.

From what I could gather, as long as the Pokemon holding the Power Seed is male, then you should be all set. Possibly

How can I turn off the double exp cheat? I've tried re-entering the code, leaving the area, and exiting the game to no avail.
 
Restart? I haven't dabbled in the EXP. cheats so i wouldn't know

If you already have a team that is maxed out, just new game+

Not maxed, I was just using it for a few minutes to grind up a certain pokemon without getting unnecessary EVs but I'd really rather not play the rest of the game on steroids :/
