Pokémon Essentials Diamond and Pearl Moves & Abilities Project

Wow, this looks great, LokiFerne. Since my game is based off of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (I'm trying to copy the system at least 80-100% ), this will help a great deal. I can't wait until this is released. By the way, will the moves be made almost exactly (or exactly) the way that D/P's attacks are? Good luck on this project, LokiFerne. :)

How is the project going, Lokiferne? I just wanna tell you that I'd be glad to be a tester of this project since I have the D/P moves in my game as well, but the D/P moves effects and abilities are not included. Have a good day and enjoy the upcoming New year's ceremony!

Hey, thanks for all of the support guys and Happy New Year to those who have celebrated it (like myself) and those who are still waiting for midnight. As I mentioned before I am running around like a headless chicken at the moment, some of this is Pokémon related, but most of it is a bit more... personal. The project is going ok, I'm adding a few things that I didn't cover in the summary at the top but I'm not telling anybody what they are yet =P.

To all those who've asked about testing and helping out, I will be sending out PMs to everyone who has asked, either in this thread or via PM. Given the amount of progress I feel it would be better to send out an updated version rather than the one that was originally released. I'm also hoping to include more areas that will help to test the various effects and the various conditions they inflict. An update will come when this Second Release is ready, then an update will be posted when I get reports back from all of the testers.

So like I said at the start of the post, Happy New Year!!!!

can i test out please, i really like your project

@Esmas: I meant to reply to you in my previous post, the only moveI can see being different to D/P is Chatter, which is something that I would not feel confident attempting. I'm hoping that everything else will be close enough to D/P that if there are any tiny differences then they won't be noticed.

@ross61: As with everyone else, I'll be in touch via PM soon.

I think poccil has a script in Essentials which allows you to record your voice onto the trainer card; this could probably be adapted for Chatter. Also, Natural Gift, Fling and Judgment won't work without the D/P items. I'm working on getting Natural Gift to work properly now (with the R/S/E berries).

Ah, that's definitely worth a look at. I didn't know about that feature of Essentials.

Would anyone know where to find full colour designs of the Gen II balls? I've put them in as I always missed the variety of Balls that was in GSC. The sprites don't have to be GBA style as I was going to sprite them myself. I just want somewhere that I can see the designs in decent quality.

All help is appreciated (and credited =P)

would this help? bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokeball (sorry, i'm not allowed to post links at the moment)

Leaf Storm = Draco Meteor

I think Leaf Storm has the same script of Draco Meteor. I found something on Bulbapedia about move variations, that's why I said by mistake about Copycat and Mirror Move.

Ok, for those of you who don't know, the Alpha Version is out there now with the testers. I'm going to carry on scripting but I'll update the first post later on (tomorrow GMT time). Any information I get from the testers will be reflected in due course. But just to let you know, I've added some effects for Gravity (some of the moves were still working, though I haven't redone the escape and switch block yet) and I believe I've got the Tinted Lens and Filter abilities in. Some new items have had effects added.

Oh, InMooseWeTrust, would you mind waiting until the project is released before you post your plans for it? Bearing in mind you told me you wouldn't have much time to test due to going back to school, I thought you might wait until it was released before you made your own project from it, though I do appreciate the fact that you value it enough to use it as a base.

Aren't you using my Gravity script? I've coded all its effects. It doesn't prevent switching, as I distinctly remember someone switching during it (only to have their Togekiss OHKOed by Bonemerang).

How about also including some second gen items like the GS Ball and the notorious Teru Sama?

The GS Ball is a Key Item, and can be added really easily. Teru Sama is a glitch item, which I don't think should be included.
In fact, I'd prefer if no G/S/C items were included, as this is a D/P project, but it's your choice...

Yes, I'm using your script wichu, but I couldn't find anything about disabling the use of Hi Jump Kick, Jump Kick, Magnet Rise and Splash. Fly and Bounce were handled but I couldn't find anything on the other moves. It seems I was misled about Gravity stopping the flee/switch commands, I got that from the UPC. I'm a bit unsure about it disabling Splash as well. The only place I've been able to find that is on the UPC. What would be the point of disabling a move that does... nothing?

As for adding GSC items, the only ones I'm going to put in are the extra balls that were in GSC, such as the Heavy Ball, Love Ball etc. The GS Ball won't be included as it wasn't technically a Poké Ball.

I wish I could add the animations, but the animation editor in Essentials is the one thing that I can't get on with. As much as I try it just makes me frustrated every time I use it. There were whisperings around the Essentials thread about an animation project, If you asked around you might be able to find something.

LokiFerne:

The way I worded Gravity can be misleading. When I wrote that Gravity's effect "prevents switching and fleeing", I meant that Arena Trap's effect applies even to Pokemon with Flying type or the Levitate ability, whereas without Gravity, Arena Trap would have no effect in this case. (That's why the end of the sentence contains "as though it did not have Levitate and as though its current type did not include Flying".)

Also, I define "disabled" to mean that a move cannot be used or chosen for use by a Pokemon.
