[Completed] Pokémon Island [v2.2] - 1025 Pokémon, Challenge Mode and more

I don't know what is happening. To fix a bug, I need to know what is causing it and this a is very hard thing to know unless that I can reproduce the bug in a device here.

Searching for this error, I found some workarounds, not sure if they work for this game. I recommend trying these in this order (if one don't work, redo the step and try next one)

  1. Don't use mkxp-z (in options to run, use standard RPG Maker)
  2. "Use Miniz" setting.
  3. Add the attached file in the game folder (unzip it first).
  1. I couldn't find this.
  2. This was already enabled.
  3. After adding this file, now I am getting another error:
Script 'BitmapCache' line 82: NoMethodError occured.

undefined method `critical' for Thread:Class

I need to confirm this, since this issue is tricky: You saved this settings and the error still happens?
Nope, i played it again and again without issue, but i don't know later, since my progress is not far.. i just give my experience to handle this joiplay error..

Hello! Wanted to tell that I was about to play 2.2 and therefore I updated the Fidelity Patch; the link is the same so no need to change it. It's supposed to be compatible with 2.1.x and 2.2.x, though all folders except the BGM one are from 2.2.x, so I don't know if these still have all the files used by 2.1.x. Stated it's compatible in the read me anyway.

Great! Thanks!

About the bgm changes between 2.1 and 2.2, I can't remember now too. Well, the game will priorize mp3 files over midis if they are in the same folder, so if there is some audio missing, they just play the midi ones.

Long time no see. Its still driving me up the wall so I wanna know exactly how you get your rivals starter, all I know is special cutscene but I rly hope we dont have to beat all ranks for it cause thats still a bit too hard for me. Also wheres the grass in the sea again?

You don't need to beat all ranks, but you need to have almost all pokémon, and to get some, you need the penultimate rank.

Also wheres the grass in the sea again?

Hey is there a way to make the game full screen? it feels slightly off to me that there does not seem like there is an option for that

Yes! From Changeless controls:
[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Island [v2.2] - 1025 Pokémon, Challenge Mode and more

You missed this screen, didn't you?

Hi,

I've restarted Island after playing it the first time quite a few years ago, since v2 had been released I decided to start a new save for it.
Anyway, here's a few questions and bugs I've gathered since returning to play:

Bugs:
  • Curse misses when used by a non-ghost against an opponent who did Fly (or maybe it was Bounce) (which it shouldn't since it's a own status move in this case). Not sure how it works on official games tbh, but seems weird either way to miss is this case. I did not test against Dig and similar moves.
  • In Colosseum (Single) at round 6, there's a trainer that starts with Snover. Not sure if intended but as far as I can tell the Hail it summons at the start of the battle does not expire.
  • Sucker Punch (Colosseum (Single) rank 13's Mightyena) did not fail when my pokemon used Bulk Up.
Questions/Requests:
  • How does breeding work nowadays? I've searched the thread, but I'm afraid some info might be outdated.
  • Is there any use for Nuggets, stardust and other items like them? (aka is it safe to sell them all?)
  • Is there any way to increase the likelihood of getting an hidden ability? (either in the wild or via breeding)
  • Gligar does not have the ability Immunity on the pokédex, could it be because I have not caught/seen one with it, or is this one of the non-implemented abilities? (tbh the main question would be if Gliscor could have Poison Heal)
  • If it's not asking too much, could you provide (updated) lists of colosseum trainers, pokemon by habitat, pokemon fan club quests/rewards, items per teleport zone, and what's available at the max levels of: LTS trades, market items, pokemon shop. I've found some stuff in the thread but it was outdated.
  • Any source with the maps/overview of teleport zones?
  • Not super important, in a future version could we have the storage closer to the daycare/poke center? Also, could we get a device (like the Day-Care Sight) that says the IV/EVs of pokemon instead of the scientist? Having to lug 6 pkm at a time back and forth to get their IV/EVs is a bit annoying after a while :D Or even better just have it on the pokemon summary instead?
  • Would it be possible (in a future version) to remove the pathing of certain NPCs that walk over the entrance/exit of buildings?
Thanks and congrats on the great game, ofc :)

Thanks for the big post!

Curse misses when used by a non-ghost against an opponent who did Fly (or maybe it was Bounce) (which it shouldn't since it's a own status move in this case). Not sure how it works on official games tbh, but seems weird either way to miss is this case. I did not test against Dig and similar moves.
I aren't sure too. Bulbapedia mentions "The user does not lose HP if Curse misses (due to a move with a semi-invulnerable turn)". So I guess that not work. But thanks for mentioning

In Colosseum (Single) at round 6, there's a trainer that starts with Snover. Not sure if intended but as far as I can tell the Hail it summons at the start of the battle does not expire.
This is intended, all weather abilities works like gen 5 and before.

Sucker Punch (Colosseum (Single) rank 13's Mightyena) did not fail when my pokemon used Bulk Up.
Sucker puncha have a different effect (noted by *) like explained at thread.

How does breeding work nowadays? I've searched the thread, but I'm afraid some info might be outdated.
Basically like gen 3, with some small changes, like everstone affecting regionals, Power items and Destiny Knot (not sure if I added this last one in v2.0) also working

Is there any use for Nuggets, stardust and other items like them? (aka is it safe to sell them all?)
Star Piece can be traded. Of sold-only, this is the only one. These items, plus Nugget, Comet Shard and other items can be re-obtained (they aren't limited)

Is there any way to increase the likelihood of getting an hidden ability? (either in the wild or via breeding)
No, but you can use Ability Capsule to change it (I can't remember the version that I added it)

Gligar does not have the ability Immunity on the pokédex, could it be because I have not caught/seen one with it, or is this one of the non-implemented abilities? (tbh the main question would be if Gliscor could have Poison Heal)
Both doesn't have these abilities. This is because the rules explained in the thread, Gligar/Gliscor already have 2 abilities and Poison Heal is gen 4 ability.

If it's not asking too much, could you provide (updated) lists of colosseum trainers, pokemon by habitat, pokemon fan club quests/rewards, items per teleport zone, and what's available at the max levels of: LTS trades, market items, pokemon shop. Yeah, this is too much. I put the teleport station rewards below. LTS trades is always at max level. Market items you get all if you have the second upgrade and completed the game.
Spoiler:

Any source with the maps/overview of teleport zones?
There is a single outdated map at some place in this thread.

Not super important, in a future version could we have the storage closer to the daycare/poke center?
After the first upgrade, you can use the Abra to teleport (only starting in v2.2).

Also, could we get a device (like the Day-Care Sight) that says the IV/EVs of pokemon instead of the scientist? Having to lug 6 pkm at a time back and forth to get their IV/EVs is a bit annoying after a while :D Or even better just have it on the pokemon summary instead?
I agree! My plan is to add it in a summary at a future version. You gonna need to unlock this feature.

Would it be possible (in a future version) to remove the pathing of certain NPCs that walk over the entrance/exit of buildings?
I prefer to move certain NPC, or just block some, but if I receive more requests, I can change my mind. By the way, what NPCs are annoying you?

I aren't sure too. Bulbapedia mentions "The user does not lose HP if Curse misses (due to a move with a semi-invulnerable turn)". So I guess that not work. But thanks for mentioning
Sorry I might have explained it wrongfully, the pokemon that used curse is not a ghost, so it would increase stats instead of removing HP (to place the curse). However, since you mentioned Bulbapedia, I went there now and "Despite being an effect acting on the user, this move will fail if there are no opponents on the field" so ig it actually works as intended, then... never mind that :D

Sucker puncha have a different effect (noted by *) like explained at thread.
Ok, I wasn't the one to use Sucker Punch, so I wasn't aware it had an asterisk.

Both doesn't have these abilities. This is because the rules explained in the thread, Gligar/Gliscor already have 2 abilities and Poison Heal is gen 4 ability.
Damn :( He's one of my faves, but without Poison Heal it's fairly useless.

Yeah, this is too much. I put the teleport station rewards below. LTS trades is always at max level. Market items you get all if you have the second upgrade and completed the game.
I actually didn't mean those items, I meant the floor items found inside the maps, but that's already pretty good info. I assumed you would have some of these as lists on a DB or something, since in an earlier version you've provided the list of colosseum trainers.
Anyway I'll keep trying to gather the remaining info myself.

There is a single outdated map at some place in this thread.
I've since found the Sea map through a google search (which led me here), so I guess that's the one you mention. Hopefully it's not outdated too much.
I assumed (again) you would have the layouts of the maps, in order for them to be in the game (but ofc I have no idea on how games are made, so guess I was wrong).

After the first upgrade, you can use the Abra to teleport (only starting in v2.2).
oh ok, I did talk with Abra's Owner NPC once but never even thought about using it to travel lol ty for letting me know, will try to remember to use it from now on :D

I prefer to move certain NPC, or just block some, but if I receive more requests, I can change my mind. By the way, what NPCs are annoying you?
Again, I might have explained myself wrongfully. I didn't mean to completely remove their pathing, just to limit where they walk (assuming that's possible, idk). I've since upgraded some stuff, so not quite sure if it's still happening everywhere, but iirc there was a lady in the lab that kept going in front of the door (before the scientist upgrade).
There's one (or two) at the gym too.
At least one NPC at the market also goes into a spot that force the player to go around the shelves in order to get to the "second" vendor (floor 4 or 5, iirc. It was a man I think).

Thanks for all the answers :)

Nah, you explained correctly. I reversed the ghost/non-ghost effect when I read your message.

Ok, I wasn't the one to use Sucker Punch, so I wasn't aware it had an asterisk.
I'm thinking in putting the asterisk at move names instead of descriptions in a future version. What do you think? Too much visual pollution?

since in an earlier version you've provided the list of colosseum trainers.
I need to do some editing, this isn't just a copy/paste.

I assumed (again) you would have the layouts of the maps, in order for them to be in the game (but ofc I have no idea on how games are made, so guess I was wrong).
Yeah, I have, but there are problems just giving the maps. I gonna give you an example with Plains map:
Spoiler:

There are 2 versions, one without events (easier to see the layout) and one with events. Events are trainers, items, breakable rocks, stairs and other stuff.

But the plains map is almost at the height limit of the editor. So, for map with biggers size, I should combine the screenshots. Maps with several stairs need a lot of editing to "link" these stairs. There is a script that export map images, but I need to install and make it compatible with my game.

Also, I think that giving the entire map is too much, specially because I put alternative ways to get important items.

Again, I might have explained myself wrongfully. I didn't mean to completely remove their pathing, just to limit where they walk (assuming that's possible, idk).
Yeah, I understand what you initially mean. To limiting I need to create empty events in some parts of map, a manual technique that I didn't like too much (also decrease performance a bit), but I will use for the worse cases.

Looking at Market, when there is only one stair, there is a NPC that can block all vendors in a floor, this sounds annoying, so I gonna fix it in 2.2.5. I also add one blocker at Pokémon Shop for a NPC that can do a similar thing. Thanks for the suggestion!

HI was there ever a pokemon world tournament added?
No, because this makes little sense due to Colosseum nature and Trainer Simulator.

Can I add all the AI characters in the battle sim to make my own tournament?
Yes, but there is no tournament system in Trainer Simulator, so you need to do all manually.

any plans for free for all battles?
No. People aren't requesting too.
