Introduction

Hi, I'm Alex; most of you probably won't know who I am, but I've been around here quite a long time, and I have become fairly adept at scripting and mapping (though still learning). Although I've had a few minor attempts at "mini-hacks" in the past, this is my first big hack idea.

The idea of this hack is to test out my skills and to improve myself, as well as trying to make a good hack, and as such there will be no "team" as I will be doing pretty much everything (yes I know it'll be slow), but I will have a Requests section where I will ask for help in a specific thing (like sprites for example). However, please check there and don't ask for positions that aren't there. Anyway, here we go:

Storyline

You have lived in an orphanage since you were 11. Now, aged 16, you have come of age and you must leave. You are to stay with someone in the village until a permanent home is found. However, before you leave, Mrs. Orvil, owner of the orphanage gives you a mysterious video. It is your father who explains his involvement with the police and how he thinks he would be dead by the time the video is seen.

However, after you leave, you meet someone from the police who says they know where your father is, and so he gives you a pokémon to help them look for him.

I don't want to give away too much at this point, but suffice to say iit is a long, complex story.
Features

*Takes place in the newly established region of ????, which is made up of two larger islands and a plethora of smaller ones. The southern island is the biggest and has been left nearly untouched with its forests and routes that thrive in the hot, humid climate. The Northern island is somewhat arid in the south and more temperate in the north. It is much more industrialised and cities line the eastern shores. There is also a smaller island further north. This is the mountainous region of ????, which is run by a tyrannical leader who has brought its economy to its knees. You will need to go there on several times during your journey.
*New maps
*Loads of new scripts and events
*Numerous side-quests, including Elite 4
*Guilds you can join each with their own sequence of quests
*There will be new pallets in a future release
*There will be no new tiles, overworlds or sprites in the first release, but MAYBE in a future one.
*All pokémon obtainable including legendaries through special in-game events (none are easy to obtain)

Requests

This section is where I will say if I need anything done, be it sprites, overworlds, beta testing or anything else for that matter. If you want to take up one of this roles, just pm me with proof of work, and I'll see. Obviously you will get full credit, both here and in the game.

*A banner for the hack. No particular pokémon required, just make it in-keeping with the theme of the hack, sort of mysterious and spy-ee-like.
*Front sprite for father (instead of Oak in opening sequence). He should look like a spy, with generally black clothes and a brimmed hat.
*Front and back sprites and overworlds for male and female characters. No particular necessities; they just need to look quite poor. Just use your imagination!

Thanks. Well it probably will be eventually, but the emphasis is currently on mapping and scripting. Once the hack really gets underway, then yes, but for the moment, no.

I love the storyline, it seems so kick ass, but I'm not liking the mapping judging from what I see. Maybe it's just because it's the begining, but I don't know...maybe improve them a bit. Tile error in pic #3, wrong ledge tile used.
I can't wait to see some scripting, hope you know how, cuase trust me, getting someone else to scritp for you NEVER works out in the end!

Yes, I noticed that just after I posted it and the map's been fixed now: I'll re-upload it at some point. I know my mapping isn't great, but I'm improving (I hope) and any suggestions on how to improve would be gladly accepted.
Well I can script fairly well, so I hope to put up some screenshots of them in the next few days. Thanks for all your comments!

I really like the idea of this hack. The storyline is great, and the idea of being in an orphanage is great, too.
I like hacks that are mysterious and there is something to be solved; but too bad they have not lasted long.

What?! It isn't at all sexual based... In fact I have nothing planned that is remotely sexual. I'm sorry, but don't say things like that which are clearly untrue.

This is is probaly the only reason hemlockledgend said that is beacause of this tiny little sentence

I don't want to give away too much at this point, but it is a long, complex story with running themes of betrayal and love (I so wanted to say that... :)

I'm sorry, that's completely innappropriate and that doesn't happen. Please either make some constructive comments or go away.

Fair enough. It is a bit bigger than the others, but I suppose it should be bigger.

And with the roof, I know it's supposed to be red, but I made it blue to be in keeping with the others in the town. I'll probably switch it at some point and recolour it.

Could you give us some examples of your 'side quests'

OK, well I'll put it in a spoiler.

Spoiler:

I have already written a script for a bank where you can keep your money safe from being taken when you white out, but once you have a certain amount of money in there, there is a chance of witnessing a bank robbery and you need to rescue the money as your own money is gone too.

There are also guilds, such as the water guild and the fire guild and if you join one, you cannot join the other, and for each there are a series of quests ranging from simple Find This Item quests to Infiltrate The Other Guild And Steal The Plans quests. Some guilds are friendly to each other, some are hostile, and each has their own headquarters in a city somewhere. I suppose they are a bit similar to the teams in the main games, only there are more of them and you can choose to get involved or not.
