Grass animation is a to-do. Also, I'm pretty sure that if you play with regular gba size it won't look pixelated at all.For the Alpha itself, I haven't gotten around to playing it at all, though I did watch the promotional video. It's as good as I expected it to be. I'll start off with the, in my opinion parts (aka a nice way to say things I disliked):
- Fix the grass animation from the default FR animation to another one (it doesn't fit those tiles imo).
- When I originally saw the background mockup that you made, I was quite excited because I thought you had managed to insert a 256 colored BG into the background (that would've been amazing!), turns out it needed to have it's colors reduced, dang. Unfortunately, the result of the color reduction makes it look a little pixelated. It might've been Youtube though, idk.
- I can't believe you used a map and weather to create that still image cut-scene! Whhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyy! (OK I did it too in Pokemon 4ever's hack off, but I was lazy, you, you're not lazy!).
btw, 256 colors battle background sounds nice (*winks violently and repeatdly at you*)
I'm so lazy that I'll call that cutscene a "homage to the 2008~2010 of poké-hacking". I know that there are tons of methods of doing that with asm, but the map was done for a looooong time :3

It would look smoother gba-like (with stripes instead of pictures), but I like how the bgs match the overall style of the hack.I've played the first beta and I think it's very cool. That being said I do have a few points to bring up!
Firstly, as FBI said, the grass animation is pretty noticeable. I also think that the uber detailed battle backgrounds look kind of strange when they slide into a Pokemon battle.
Secondly, some of the grammar is a bit spotty in places, I totally get that, just saying I'd look around and do some double checking. The father's speech towards you has a few from memory, as does Benga when he steals your Pokemon. Some of the NPC speech is a bit bland as well.
Thirdly, the mailman being so actively involved in your life seems kind of strange. Also I'm not so sure about leaving the Pokeballs lying around in your room, I think it would be better for your Dad to give you the Pokedex, and for you to just start with the running shoes. I do like that you have to pick up Flabebe's empty Pokeball though!
Fourthly, Pokemon Sprites. I think they need to be more consistent. I really appreciate you using my Sugimori sprites for a few pokemon like Pidgey, but those palettes that I've made don't really fit well with some of the other DS-style palettes you've used for Pokemon like Pikachu. Also Flabebe using a 5th gen style backsprite is kind of jarring. I'd really just pick one style that you want to use and stick to it for all your sprites.
Those were the main things I wanted to bring up, overall I think it's really good, but I'd definitely think about the things I've brought up.
Grammar is my achilles tendon, haha. Even with people correcting it, I end up doing small texts that just make the whole thing looking bad.
I kinda like the "get the things in your room" idea, but it looks awful because all the overworlds are pokéballs. Fixing that will make things better :P
I totally agree about the sprites, I should not mix things up. But because of the 2 frame thing, it's much easier if I just mix the resources :/

I caught 3 of them but they have same types.
Also they have random ability such as Rock Head and Swim Swift.

amazingly mapped out, pazzing is quite right, FInal Fantasy feeling (after u die u will be send to the title screen).
no unecessary moments, (but I wished to be able to choose starter. maybe it will come out in the future).
Also what I liked to ask is if u extend the Pokedex or just replace the pokemons for other ones?
I enjoyed it really much and look forward to the beta.

Other than that i played that game for 50 min and looked really interesting so far, great job! the graphics are tozally awesome!

Just fixed ralts, relax! hahaThe Ralts thing is because Ralts is a Psychic-Dark type in this game. Also Deus, WHY U MAKE RALTS BAD? ;__;
And about those bugs, i found another big one. If you go to the dock of the ship, and go back before boarding the ship, you can't get back on the ship meaning you are stuck.
And here are some minor ones, there is a messed up sign at the top of Gogoat mountain, and when you enter the SS. Enna it still says SS. Anne. And the TV on the ship is a town map for some reason. And to the right of the basement door on SS Enna there is an invisible bookcase, spooky! Also in the basement, you can stand on the walls in the left corner. And if you talk to one of Wallaces fans it refers to her as a he. Either that is an oversight or sadly the most progressive thing i have seen in a Pokemon ROM hack.
Fixed all these bugs either! Also, the dark textbox means that the player is reading things, thinking.
So the "She is wearing a..." quote refers to the fangirl, not wallace :3

When you have to go to ride the Gogoat to meet your father (which I didn't know) so I went back to my house. On the way back, I got stopped by a text from the mailsman saying that I didn't meet my father and he's waiting for me but instead pushing me back to my old track, it pushed me back to where I am heading and I can't return to the Gogoat Ranch.
Fixed!I don't think this has already been posted, but if it has: sorry. The crystal in the big circle on crescent path doesn't actually heal my pokemon, despite selecting heal and the text saying 'Your Pokemon have been healed.'

1-FixedThis game is one of the best GBA games I ever played but also I have some problems with it
1) There is a bug when LOLA said that she is dressing Pikachu and you talk to Pikachu the game frezees.
2) I like you style of having the blue crystals instead of having save in menu but it is also a problem like the crystal in the ship you should make to heal to making a game hard is cool but sometime its not and I think you should add heal in that crystal.
3)When Father gave me that Key Stone it said "You Recived ????????? " something like that and its not in the bag I don't know of thats a bug but if its one fix it.
And For The Moving Person And Crystal You Used Their movement right like the person with guitar if you talk to him he doesn't look at you .
But its great I like it a lot keep it up
2-I'll probably increase the amount of money trainers give as reward. A heal place inside the ship would be too easy, haha. Also, there is this doctor guy that heals you once, search for him! ;)
3-I will fix this later. Need to create a "Old Key" item. You won't use it for a long time, so no probs at all.

Music is indeed awful, and trainer dialogues are indeed silly (I need to improve the trainer-text-generator in my head). Grass animation is a to-do, and the sliding is gba pokémon default. I'm not sure how it would look better than that, as I tried with no animation intro and it looks terrible. No life at all :PWell done for the first demo. Whoever you got for the assembly language work has much skill. Animated Trainer sprites isn't even a feature in Emerald, and the cut-scenes were awesome. This game has aspects that I would recommend changing, but those faults are easy to miss while you are being blinded by the game's intense graphics. Your choice of tiles is impressive.
+ The person doing the ASM work is clearly on another level
+ Animated Trainer sprites in-battle
+ Cinematic cut-scenes
+ Trust system makes good use of flags
+ Marvelous tile choices
- FRLG music choices were terribly unfitting in just about every instance, completely ruining cut-scenes, and "tragic past" speeches by preventing immersion
- Silly dialogue to instigate some battles
- Choppy grass animation frames are a lot more noticeable when walking
- "Sliding screen" transition at the start of battles looks questionable
- Some dialogue is very unusual because the player character cannot talk

-Flabébé sucks, like.. a lot.. i hate it so much.. it's really weak and its design it's ugly ;_; ... but welp.. i'll just deal with it, probably i'll treat a Pidgey as my starter or something like that.

-I don't know why, but Gahvi had a Spanish text in the first time you meet him at Gogoat's Ranch xDD .. it was funny tho.

When you enter in this room at the S.S. Anne, when talking with this Sailor, the Textbox looks kinda weird, it fixes after a second or 2 tho, it's really stupid, so you don't need to even worry about it, but yeah, i just said it to keep it registered xD

There's just a usual msgbox saying that he likes what's happening around him and he feels Fabulous.
Btw, i kinda like Lola a lot, she said a fancy line playing with the "Fabulous" word, i can't remember right now what was it but it was a joke to Wallace's way of talking and it was gorgeous xDDD

I didn't played Final Fantasy too much, in fact, i've only saw the Plot of FFIX in Youtube and played a few of the 3D DS Games like Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, but i definitely remember him as a usual character xD

You should never use teleport in a rom-hack, haha!Well, I don't know if someone said it, but the move "teleport"is a bit... bugged. It says that you will be teleported in Celadon City, and teleports you in a link battle room where you will be stuck (each time you quit this room you will be teleported in that room again).
But it's an AWSOME hack anyway, thank you so much for this alpha! I'm really curious about the "trust point" system...

There might be a small visual issue when the Pikachu goes back into the Pokeball in the introduction, the black parts of the sprite look transparent when the flash happens. I'm not completely sure though.

Edit: Might as well throw in a couple more possible bugs/suggestions:

- Love the style of your tiles, but I'd recommend fixing the house shadows and making them pseudo-transparent instead of pure green.
I did pseudo-transparent once but I had to stop. I agree that it looks better, but it is too much time consuming that I had to just do plain shadows.
- The moutain tiles have too light shadows, same with the sign tile, but that depends on what the tiles are standing on. Perhaps you can add another block so that you have a darker and a lighter shadow depending on what you need.
I hate shadows, haha. I agree, need to fix this.
- I'm sure this will get fixed, but the regular "pond" water is not animated, which looks weird in comparison to all the other beautifully done animations.

- Speaking of which, the crystal animation loop is slightly off. ;]
I kinda saw that, but the data is correct. Not sure why in-game it is weird.
- Imo the smaller trees could look better if you tweak them a bit. Personally not a fan of them being literally the same as the big ones, just smaller.

Overall impressions, had a good time, story-wise it's a bit strange but it works. Happy for you getting your Alpha out, good luck with this.
