Emerald hack: Pokémon Modern Emerald (Complete, 2.4 Released! Following Pokémon, Modern Battle Frontier, and more!)

With how much faster battles can become by tweaking the in-game options, I don't think I'm planning on adding more ways to speed up battles. You can already remove the sliding intro, remove text delays and remove all animations. It would take too much time to add something that can already be (mostly) done.

However, I like the idea of having a debug option to auto-heal the whole party or something like that. Thanks for the idea!

And I'm absolutely stoked about Jojo getting a part 7 animation! Part 7 is my favourite manga, and I have the full 16-volume collection at home. I literally can't wait to see Pizza Mozzarella and who shot you know who animated.
Thanks, I thought the same at first, having played other roms with text delay and animation removal, but it still makes a huge difference, and even with the former options I would still find myself using fast forward 90% of the time. Obviously it's your romhack and your time so it's your call, but if you ever get to try Recharged Pink or other romhacks with that feature I assure you it makes it hard to go back (or maybe it's just my ADHD lol).

Auto heal would be huge, I get some people prefer the challenge of getting through a route without healing but to me it just means having to go to the menu and select the healing party options, even in games with Poké vials or similar items.

Also yeah, can't wait to see them animated. I just wish Ennio Morricone was still alive, Araki is a huge Sergio Leone fan and said it had a big influence on Jojo so my pipe dream would have been a Morricone composed soundtrack for SBR. I hope they at least put something from him as a homage. Also I'm really curious about how they've dealt with animating the horses.

I feel like getting access to Munchlax with Leftovers at Route 102 is a bit early

Heyo quick question, someone might have already asked this but how would I get the ticket required to (shiny)hunt mew ?

Hi there, so I am soft resetting for a shiny starter, an just wanted ot ask if the shiny sprite will be shown on the strater selection screen, or is it the usual "find out in battle" mode? Thank you!
Good question! Up to 2.3.4 it works the same way as the original, so "find out in battle". I have, however, been working on showing shiny starters on the selection screen and I finally managed to do it. Next update will include it.

You can buy it on the Battle Frontier, on the exchange corner.

I've just finished a type effectiveness randomizer run on the latest version. In my latest run, the Normal type got the offensive capabilities of both Fairy and Rock. It was super effective against Ice, Flying, Bug, Dragon, and Dark, and resisted by Poison, Ground, and Steel.
It seems that when you randomize the type effectiveness, the Normal type always gets the offensive capabilities of the Fairy type, and can get the offensive capabilities of another type.

Aside from that, how about making Yanmega Bug/Dragon, and Gliscor able to learn HM02 Fly? Sorry if I've already asked it, but still.

Amazing rom. I joined this website just to make this post here. I've put a lot of time into playing this so I can't thank you enough for all your work.
I do however have one question and I'm not sure if it's been answered already, but are there any plans to make a modernized Fire Red/Leaf Green version? I love those games to death and can't quite find something like this for those games.
Is there anything out there that exists that's similar to this? ie, keeps the original feel of the game and doesn't add too much new stuff while adding QOL mechanics like you did here.

There's a bunch of modern/enhancement versions of Firered. Radical Red, Firered/Leafgreen+, Firered Extended, FireRed Essence, Perfect Firered, etc.

Idk if this is just my phone, but anytime I click on a Pokémon's Summary Screen, this is what pops up. I can't see their information properly.

ETA: This happens with the other screens too.
Either your emulator is not fully compatible, or the rom is not properly patched.

2.4 is here!

Additions
  • New "Ultra expensive" challenge added to the challenges menu! Choose between a x5, x10 and x50 multiplier to all items.
  • New "Less Escapes" difficulty option added to the challenges menu! Speed doesn't matter, running away from battles is harder. Use repels wisely!
  • You can now see shiny starters from Birch's Bag!
  • Added a new cheating item, the Healing Heart! It can fully heal your party infinitely, all from your key item pouch. You can get it from the cheating girl in Oldale Town.
  • Hardmode changes to some fights: it now rains during the 8th gym and champion, Winona's Altaria and Drake's Salamence are slightly stronger, and other small changes.
  • Rebalanced some encounters in earlier routes (Modern Spawns only).
  • Gliscor can learn fly!
Fixes
  • Shiny Banette follower sprite fixed.
  • Large Pokémon follower sprites (Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Ho-Oh and Lugia) fixed, both normal and shiny forms.
  • Escape Rope can be used in Mewtwo's cave.
  • Fixed being able to swap party Pokémon while being in Battle Pike.
  • Fixed all Pokédex modes (weight, height and alphabetical).
  • Fixed Gym Leaders, Champions, Red, Leaf and other special trainers not appearing during Battle Frontier challenges (keep in mind that they are the highest tier of trainers! You won't see them often anyway, but they are 100% there now).
  • Fixed Speed badge boost applying in Hard Mode.
Both new challenges work great in combination, as it makes repels more valuable (and other items as well).
Let me know if you find any bug before I go on vacation!

First post here just to say amazing job on the hack.

I have a bit of an odd issue when trying to rematch the elite four though - I can call them and they say to come back anytime, however when I try to re-enter the league at ever grande I get stuck after going through the door way at the top of the stairs. I can move on the spot and turn in any direction, but I cant go forward or back as if there is a physical (invisible) wall there? Am I being dense and missing something I need to do before the rematch, or is something broken?

I tried using the debug menu to no-clip past the obstruction, but as soon as I reach Sidney the game freezes and needs to be reset. Im playing on pc using VBA-m and have patched the game to 2.4 with a good original rom.

EDIT - Well it appears I was being dense, the no clip made the dialogue window from sidney not appear so a few mashes of A got me through that and into the battle.

Hey amazing hack!
Just one suggestion, isn't the battle frontier pretty late to have access to the macho brace?

Also, is there any way to use cheats (I really want to play through with beldum and some other mons)?

I'm playing on delta if that matters, but would love someway to get earlier access to Pokemon.
One of my favorite things about the GBC games was the ability to get dratini or pupitar via game corner. (Also would be cool to have a permanently "lucky" machine.)

Also is there a list of the new moves added?

A little oddity a found: I've run into a level 40 gastly and 39 Sableye in the abandoned ship, which seem high level for just getting the 5th badge. But then you also encounter mons in the level 20s in the abandoned ship. Additionally, the trainers have mons level 28-29, so the high level encounters seem accidental

Macho brace: I'm pretty sure it is still obtainable in the regular location; the battle frontier is just an additional place to buy more.

Cheats: there is a debug menu you can use by going to Options in the start menu, holding select button and pressing start. You will hear a chime and then it is accessible in the start menu. You can use the debug menu to give yourself a beldum or any Pokemon.

Delta emulator: this emulator runs GBA games using outdated VBA and is not recommended. You will likely run into issues. The creator recommends to use mGBA. I use an iPhone and I use RetroArch to use mGBA.

Move list: I don't know, but you can see every move a Pokemon can learn and their method of learning it by looking at their Pokédex entry and going to "stats." If you're really curious, you can use the debug menu to "complete" the Pokédex, from which you can see every Pokemon and their moves.

After reviewing my recording, I noticed an interesting detail. When I go to switch Pokemon, the game tells me what the Gym Leader's next move is: switching to Skarmory. You can see in the party menu "Choose Pokemon for Skarmory" before the switch actually happens. Is this an Emerald thing or a Modern Emerald thing?
