Hack Series: Pokémon Photonic Sun & Prismatic Moon

Utilizing gen 8's learnsets does sound better tbh. I'm not super familiar with swsh (I prefer romhacks lol) but just skimming them, it feels like they found a much better balance for levelup sets. Maybe it's because of the wild area giving you much earlier access to a wide variety of mons? It definitely seems like a better base to use though with the adjustments they made, though I think it'd still need some editing due to the heavy amount of level 1 moves (love how they went from gen 7 having the heartscale tutor at the literal end of the game, to swsh having it free and accessible from any pokecenter LOL) but otherwise seems p nice.

I believe they're dumping from pk3ds and reformatting things but I'll have to double check haha. Also we've very much noticed the scariness of rising stars and ace trainers! I'm always terrified of running into the trainer with the Horsea- 252 spatk, modest, and buffed 85bp/100acc Octazooka is downright murderous😭Route 12 is equally terrifying. I discovered the hard way in my nuzlockes that there's a trainer with 252 spatk adaptability normal gem Porygon-Z, and another with 252 spatk z-solar beam Delphox. May my Primarina rest in peace.
Yeah the gen 8 learnsets are pretty well done. I won't update every Pokemon to use them as it'd take far too long, but I'll do it for a few mons like Squirtle or Lucario that got major improvements. I'm glad GF changed their mind on the move reminder, putting them at the league was a terrible idea.

Ah that Horsea needs fixing again. It started out with Water Pulse, had it replaced with Octazooka after Water Pulse was buffed, and now it's going to need that swapped out for Bubble Beam or something. A few people have run afoul of that guy with the Porygon-Z now, that Route is nasty for Nuzlockes. Hard to say if that's a good thing or a bad thing; making the fodder trainers too strong can make clearing a route a bit tedious, but at least it's memorable!

So uh... I have an unrelated question regarding something I just noticed in the levelup move documentation.
Is this intentional? And more importantly.. is Patrat okay? Should I stage an intervention?

Lol not sure if that's some sort of pk3DS bug, data corruption or something leftover from moveset testing; either way it's definitely not intentional! I guess Patrat's just watched a bit too much Space Jam lately, should get over it eventually.

I assume I just read it wrong originally, but can I get confirmation? The description says that Standard includes "the Golisopod/Razor Shell fix mentioned above," but he's still forced into Emergency Exit. I originally assumed the slash meant both of his changes, but I guess I was wrong on that. What would the process look like for me to include that change specifically? Assuming it's even possible to edit without having to restart. Thank you! :)

Also total side note, but either the Baltoy spawn in Akala Outskirts is bugged, way too low, or I'm the unluckiest person ever. Been in this SOS battle for over an hour now, using 5x speed the entire time, and it has yet to spawn once. I totally get some spawns being crazy rare, but this one is a bit too wacky. Pretty sure my character is gonna be arrested for slaughtering the entire Golett population of Alola haha

That change is an unclear way of saying I gave Golisopod a second ability (Shell Armor); you can choose not to have Emergency Exit by catching one without it or using an ability capsule. To change that in standard you can either edit the hack with pk3DS (which will affect every Golisopod in the game), or just edit your Golisopod in PKHeX (rename it to "PKHaX" to enable the illegal editing mode).

Yup that's definitely bugged, Baltoy only shows up in one patch of grass during the day when it should be everywhere. Will get a fix up for that soon.

Edit: fix is uploaded! To update, just replace the old files with the new ones. Existing saves will still be compatible.

Hey, it's me again, I wanted to know if it was possible to change the cries for older pokemon back to the original ones on any of the 3ds games. Most of them sound a little worse, some sound a LOT worse (Kyogre, Tropius, Reshiram, Cradily), and I can only think of one off the top of my head that straight up sounds better (Bronzor).

Hey, it's definitely possible but I've got no idea how to do it or where the cries are even stored. I'd definitely change them if I could , they really did butcher poor Kyogre's cry; it almost sounds like it's dying. I like what they did with Escavalier and Druddigon, and some of the really different ones are ok (e.g. Hydreigon), but yeah most are just downgrades of the originals.

Most of the gen 5 cries were absolutely destroyed, losing their cool echo effect, the gen 3 cries lost their cool factor (except for Dusclops), and the first 4 generations mostly just sound more screechy and shrill.

Found a bug with the Gladion fight. You didn't put the Porygon-Z's moves in the proper order for Z-Conversion to work properly. Conversion changes the Pokemon's type into the same type as the move in its first moveslot. Since that move is Conversion, a normal type move, Z-Conversion fails since it's already normal type. Still gets the stat buffs, but no type change.

Should be simple enough to just rearrange its moveset to have Ice Beam or Thunderbolt first, unless that was intentional to keep it normal type?

Can't remember if that was intentional or not, probably just an oversight seeing as it doesn't even have normal STAB. Thanks for letting me know!

hello there, can I just ask if this mod have all pokemon from gen 1 to gen 7 in game? I have try to find some of them in "Wild Pokemon Locations" PDF file and I can't find them (Litten and Snivy or Fennekin for example)

Hi, yes it does! Don't forget that evolved Pokemon can appear in the wild too; there's not enough space on Melemele for all the base stages.

thank you so much for responding now I can play it :) and thank you for making this mod, so far it is the best one I have found and I apologies I have just one more question, what tools you have use to make this, I would like to try to make some private changes to my game, pokemon locations and evolutions and small stuff like that, please

Pls, make Magmortar a dark type mon too, totally amazing if you look at him with that figthing type Electivire in the other hand.

Otherwise, is there someone who wants to play some Dualocke?

Hey just an observation, have you considered making core enforcer a physcial move? It seems like a rather boneheaded decision to give Zygarde a decently strong signature move that uses his lower attacking stat, plus he could use a more reliable STAB for dragon dance sets.

I just noticed while playing that Delcatty didn't really get a lot of love tbh. The defensive buffs are nice, but its still extremely lacking in many things.. Some ideas I had for both this and Eternal X/Wilting Y:

-Fur Coat would make sense on it, and would be better than its pretty bad normal abilities (maybe replace Normalize? its pretty awful to lose access to coverage as a normal type, and its niche with t-wave is borderline useless.. could always give it Glare to achieve the same purpose). Maybe lower your defensive buff a tiny bit to compensate.

-Making it a special attacker by buffing that stat so it can finally utilize its amazing special coverage + Nasty Plot access (seriously.. 55 spatk is genuinely awful 😭). Maybe something like 75-85? Nothing too high, but would be nice if it was at least useable.

Thanks! I used pk3DS, dotnet 3Ds toolkit and Asia81's 3Ds hacking toolkit for almost everything.

IMO Dark type doesn't really fit Magmortar; I couldn't come up with a secondary type that made sense for it so I left it as is.

It would be an improvement, but Zygarde doesn't really need any buffs. It's also locked to the post game so there's not much left to do with it at that point!

Yeah Delcatty's stats are horrendous, it's very hard to buff it without making it a completely different Pokemon. Giving it +60 BST and early access to all its level up moves would be a lot of love for most other Pokemon!
The only issue with making it a special attacker is it doesn't get its best coverage moves until very late in the game, and it's best as an early game mon. Your suggestions would help though!

Hey, thanks again for your hacks; they're absolutely wonderful stuff! Currently having a blast with Prismatic Moon. Just one question, as I haven't been able to find anything related so far: How do I find non-gen-7 legendaries (e.g. Articuno & co, Mew, etc) and the fossils that aren't sold in
Spoiler:
?

Hey, you're welcome! And thanks! Check the "Special Encounters" document, that covers most of them. The rest are in the same place as the vanilla games, i.e. in the ultra wormhole minigame.

Well, that's what I get for not looking at all the documents. Silly me, and thanks!

Sorry if this is a bit of a silly question, but how does Island Scan work on Citra?
