Hi there.

I'm enjoying the game thus far... except for one big issue. The level curve around Azalea Town is atrocious. If I'm about to go up against a gym leader with a Level 20 ace, why am I still having to grind on Pokemon under Level 10 most of the time? Most of the encounters in Ilex Forest are Levels 5-7, for goodness sake! The bare minimum here should be Level 8, with a max of Level 12/13. Right now, it's just frustrating to make the grade. I've been grinding for over an hour-and-a-half. Highly recommend changing this in 1.2; like, c'mon - it's been 20 years. Shouldn't Johto have a better level curve now? :P

Update: Alicia was frustrating in the extreme. I feel like her Sylveon's moveset is a bit egregious with Draining Kiss and Wish. Also, typo in Goldenrod. The clerk outside the Department Store says "Come in an shop around!" instead of "and shop around!"
The wild pokemon level curve should be much better in 1.2.
Alicia's Sylveon used to have psyshock, trust me, it could be worse lol.
Hey, maybe the shop worker is just a little country.

I agree on this one. In a way, I feel like the difficulty is cheap because the developer resorted negating player tools and be straight up lucky in your early game team building, in order to cover the fact that he isn't that good in teambuilding Pokemon teams that could be considered actually hard and crafty and forces the player to strategize, as well as underutilizing the smartert AI that is present on pokeemerald's expansion code.
Ok, Mr. Team Building Master.

I am currently in my second play through, and I must say that Alicia's team definitely needs to be nerfed asignificantly. I'm currently catching Paras hoping to get exp candies, and it's a pain.
I might nerf her some, since I'm getting a lot of complaints.

Is 1.2 getting released anytime soon?

Also dont nerve any of the gym leaders or trainers. Game is a lot of fun and a good challenge

As mentioned before, this guy is definitely not at Mt. Rage, haha...

Also, a collision bug I noticed, don't know if this has been fixed.

And a couple pixel glitches I found which looked funny.
Currently at 8 badges and training before going to the league. I'll let you know if i find or have feedback on anything else. :)

Since I changed the exp share to the gen 6 style, I'll have to run through the game again myself and make sure the player doesn't get too over or under leveled.
I would also like to make an NPC to change natures, but that might have to wait for a possible 1.3 lol, there isn't very good documentation for adding one.

Sawyer huh? That makes sense. He's in Dark Cave now, which used to be the Artisan Cave from the Battle Frontier (which had no trainers originally).
I've got him updated in match call, as well as the tile errors you mentioned.
Thanks! I can run around the game as much as I possible myself, but will always end up missing random errors like this.

Will you be keeping the debug feature in 1.2 though? Ngl, it has been a bit fun to tinker with and can pass off as an option for minimal grinding.
Haha, I bet so. I have it disabled now though.

Thank you for the Romhack Sloo!
I want to give a quick psa for those using retroarch cores. The rtc does not to work with the GPSP core despite ensuring it was properly enabled. You will have to use the MGBA core as it appears to work the most stable/correctly. GPSP is a core many use on less powerful hand-held emulation devices and is less intensive than mgba. With GPSP it immediately states on launch that the "battery has run dry and that time events will be disabled." For those lower end devices that will struggle more with MGBA, you will have to implement a frameskip.

I went through the pokemon list you have provided and noticed that the starters from gen 5 and forward are not there. Any plans on adding those?
No, I figured the 4 different sets available now are enough.
Sidenote: I figured out why the wild pokemon don't hardly yield any exp. It's on gen 7's exp curve, so the higher your level is compared to the opponent, the less exp you get.
I tried a quick run through with the same exact team, but the gen 6 style (no curve) left my pokemon at a lower level just before the 2nd gym. This is due to the trainers giving more exp, with their higher levels.
So, I'll probably leave the curve, and keep testing with the higher wild pokemon levels.

All the other stones can be purchased except Moon. Can Moon Stones be added? Or is there anywhere to get them other that in the wild?

You can purchase Moon Stones, as well as Trade Stones at the Lazulan Festival.

Really liking this Rom Hack so far. It is definitely a really fun one. However, there are certainly a few shortcomings that could easily make it stand with some of the best. I've so far beaten 7 Gyms and these are my observations. I hope if it isn't too difficult, these issues can be resolved in a future update.
- Experience gained isn't well handled. Given the Wild Pokemon diversity in the game, the lack of experience gained from battling them really discourages building a diverse team through your playthough. It is very likely that the 6 you initially started off with will be the ones to sustain you throughout even after battling all available trainers prior to each gym.
- The EXP flaw is even more obvious when advantageous pokemon for each gym are found near the town in which the gym is located. For example, scollipede before the Fairy Gym 2 in Ilex, Ground types in the Safari Zone before Olivine's electric Gym. However, these pokemon found are grossly under leveled and leveling them up for that gym is almost impossible given the paltry experience gained leaving them often 10-15 levels under the Gym leader's mons.
- Given the increased difficulty, it would be good to have an all party Gen6 style Exp Share system.
- Single Use TMs and the inability to change a Pokemon's nature further add to the difficulty in a way that feels unfair. Difficulty born out of purposeful handicaps as opposed to lack of strategy.
I am aware OG Emerald lacked reusable TMs, Exp Share or Nature Changing, however it was a fairly easy game for the most part.
I welcome a slightly increased difficulty with trainers having higher levels, however, it shouldn't come at the cost of negating the ability to level new pokemon to make challenges easier if you wanted to.

Overall, this is really one of the best hacks that i've played, I would recommend playing despite the aforementioned flaws. It's got a compelling narrative, a diverse variety of pokemon, interesting characters and great world building. Look forward to more updates for this.
Yeah, I also agree with the things you mentioned above. I use the Synchronize ability to get the Nature I want, (though this method also takes a lot of time). Maybe Nature Mints can be added? However, I appreciate the limited money rewards so that players don't spam buying items. It makes item management a challenge in the game. This might also, be a personal request but I think an EV/IV checker can also be helpful.

I love this hack. Rarely, does a romhack get me invested in a story. I love that dynamic between brothers as rivals, makes the competitiveness worth it.

Thank you!
I'm working on the wild pokemon levels right now. Also, there is an IV checker in Cherrygrove City.

Hi, I know in the minority, but I play on a mac with OpenEmu and I too have the crash in the very beginning when the player talks to mom and her azumarill. Any plans to fix in 1.2?

I had that happen once myself today, possibly fixed? Or it just decided to work for me.

Hello Dear Developer @Sloo, I don't know if this was already pointed out to you. But, I saw a bug inside Dark Cave indicated in the picture below. The ledges work fine, but you can walk through them including the rocks. Shown in blue lines in the picture below.

Any news about cheats?

+ how can I update the game 1.1 on openEmu without having to restart from the beginning?
