News: Pokémon Sun & Moon Officially Announced [Summary of news here!]

The original Red & Green was released on February 27th, 1996. Not likely to be the release date here.
Lol, they were originally intended for December 21st, 1995, hence the "Original release date" mentioned in my past post.

That'll be a Wednesday for us this year. So I doubt it. Plus that's too close to Christmas and not enough sales time or padding to get better sales. That close to Christmas would end pretty badly for stores and the company.

The closest game to ever be released close to Christmas was Crystal in Japan, it came out on the 14th of December, 2000. Perhaps we'll see it then. I can also see it coming out on the day of Japanese Blue, which was October 15th (year 1996) irc, especially since S/M were announced on the 20th anniversary of RG, so might as well have something for Blue's 20th anniversary. I can also see it coming out on November 21st, the release date of G/S/R/S/Or/As in Japan. The logo design and names bring to mind GS with the colors of the crystals, and the red and blue reminds me of Ruby and Sapphire.

Btw, are Friday releases odd? We did have one for OrAs.

For Nintendo Product, no. Generally games were Tuesdays and Fridays. Sometimes major titles were Tuesdays and then some smaller titles were Fridays. Fridays are almost all movie releases nowadays. Nintendo is the oddball as they also have Sunday releases.

As Xander said, we don't want the release to be too close to Christmas. I think the best bet would be around the middle of November, likely before the Black Friday sales.

If it's November then I see it coming out on the 2 year anniversary of OrAs (which also happens to be RS' 14th, and GS' 18th). If it's October then I see it coming out on the same day that Blue was first distributed, as it is it's 20th anniversary too.

Friday releases are the norm for EU territories; it's just the US that gets most of its games on Tuesday. XY were supposed to be released worldwide on Saturday, so perhaps we'll see something like that again? God, imagine them being released on Christmas Eve...

I doubt they'll be on Christmas Eve, it'll create a rush for parents who added it as a last minute item for their kids, and fans like us as well. At least the 21st gives people 4 days in advance. Crystal was out 10 days prior to Christmas Eve (in Japan), so even that's better.

Btw, I made a release date speculation thread awhile back that could really benefit from this activity.

Edit: So it turns out that the latest issue of Corocoro at least mentions S/M. It promises to have information the games starting with their next issue, which comes out April 15. So we're a month away from some news at most.

This is likely part of the reason I'm expecting October or November, especially if they plan to tie the release in with an anniversary.

Serebii also says that there's supposed to be a Pokemon Elections thing next month. It's supposed to be "huge" and that it's got something to do with the movie and they'll even have a countdown for it.

I wonder what it could be? There's that on top of the SM stuff that's supposed to show up next month as well, I wonder if they're related?

I was expecting a special edition of the movie that wins to come out, but if they are calling it "big" it might be something else.

Do you think it's possible that the Pokemon Company might preempt CoroCoro by releasing their own trailer online before CoroCoro releases (and probably while it's leaking)

I'm pretty sure there have been times in the past when CoroCoro started leaking and then the Pokemon Company released a trailer related to what was leaking. (I think it happened with some Megas)

One thing you may have seen if you looked at the fake scans was the same image of the mansion with the Horsea fountain that we had first shown in the Direct. I do have to admit people are getting smarter at making fake scans, but hopefully some of the pics will lead to more speculation from here.

The boxart shown in the fake scans showed the legendaries having the same crystals that were shown on the Japanese logos. That makes me further believe the crystals may be a feature on the mascot legendaries.

The male protagonist also had a charm with the same gem.

For fakes it was made cleverly.

and at least next month will have sun and moon info.

I did look at the fake scans, and noticed it. The male has an orange crystal and the female has the blue one. Not that I'm assuming it'll be something the protagonist will carry around in the game, but I will likely imagine it's part of the plot.

Can definitely see them releasing trailers and updating their website around the 9th-12th. They sniped nearly every corocoro reveal for X/Y due to leaks, so here's hoping.

Even earlier than that would be a surprise, but I think it'd be better.

I'm pretty sure that's what may happen. IIRC since Gen 5 coverage, whenever there was game footage, it would happen like a week before CoroCoro or in the beginning of that month. And then, CoroCoro would follow suit with more info.

There's also that Japanese website and video that I posted earlier, both of which look back on the series while bringing up Sun and Moon as the future to look forward to. I have a feeling that website is going to take part in promoting S/M somehow. Here's the website for those of you looking for it:

https://www.pokemon.jp/special/moyadoga/

That site says Daisuki club, as did the video with the intros. Pokémon Daisuki club is a Japenese fansite (Daisuki is Japanese for great/big love/like). I'm not sure if they might have some insider info, but it's not the official Japanese site.

Just thought I'd throw something out there. 13 hours ago, Pokemon's Facebook page made a post "Who's That Pokemon?" It's obviously Togepi. But! Why Togepi was my first question? Togepi is one of the most important Pokemon anime-wise. Misty carried it for ages, you saw its journey evolving, and then eventually becoming Togekiss. It's important. I haven't seen them post that sort of thing for months (I did a quick check back) and with nothing happening Sun and Moon-wise (everyone is concentrating on Pokken)... do you think that this could mean Togepi's line could possibly get a Mega Evolution in these games? Or is it just random? Honestly it's sort of in the middle of everything. Any content they should be posting would logically be related to Pokken given it just was internationally released. So what's up with that? Random or actually potentially related to the games?
