I made this thread because honestly, I love the idea that abilities can be sort of a trump card. I have always loved certain abilites... my favorite of all time being Poison Point. But feel free to post your favorites, discuss any, ur most hated when they saved u, etc.
Edit: lol Clear Body is epic too

I love Poison Point, Static, Cute Charm, Levitate, Pickup, and some others that I can't remember atm. :( lol

I hate Traunt (unless in a double/triple battle), Sand Stream, Snow Warning, Keen Eye, RUN AWAY, and Aftermath.

But yeah, abilities are great to have. :D They were a great addition to the metagame and make it a lot more interesting.

Seriously, some Pokémon would be useless if not for their abilities!
But i agree, there are some really stupid pointless abilities.
My favorites would have to be: Effect spore, Shed Skin, Static, Levitate, Rock head,...

I like Volt/Water Absorb, Pickup, Technician, Clear Body, and Levitate the most.

I hate facing opponents with Static, Poison Point, and Effect Spore in-game, because that either limits my attack options or forces me to waste items. I don't mind using Pokemon with said abilities, I just hate having to face them one after another in the wild when I'm trying to level grind.

Oh lawd, y'all gonna make me choose? D:

Cute Charm is definitely on the top there. Run away is great for when I don't feel like listening to Wild Battle music. :'D
Traunt's cute. I don't care what anyone says. I love lazy Pokemon, and seeing them be even more lazy is adorable. <3
Rock Head would have to be one of my top favorites as well. No recoil? Thank you.

I'm seriously glad they added these in the third generation. Makes everything a little more interesting rather than just a "hit and run" sort of thing.

My favorites have to include No Guard, Rain Dish, Clear Body, and Intimidate.
The addition of abilities was definitely a welcome one. They can either save you or become your worst enemy during a match, which kind of adds to the unpredictability.
    Although Slaking's Truant has always bothered me. Slaking is such an awesome pokemon, but Truant almost completely destroys any chance of it being used by any one. ;_;

That's the reasoning really. Without that ability, Slaking would be absurdly broken.

Although I still don't get how having Stall on Sableye can have any use at all. |:

Abilities have helped, and in some cases, hindered Pokemon in battle, so yeah, I agree that they're good additions. Some Pokemon are extra-dependent on their abilities to function, such as Medicham and Azumarill with Pure/Huge Power.

My favorite ability would be Mold Breaker because I can attack regardless of my opponent's ability (EQ hitting through Levitate is one such example). My least favorite ability is ones that activate on contact, such as Static and Flame Body, as well as useless abilities in battle like Run Away. Pickup is useful in-game, though.

In GenII's metagame, Wobbuffet was absolutely worthless wasting his days away in the NU tier. GenIII turned him into an Uber, partially because he gained access to Encore, but mostly because he got dealt the Shadow Tag ability. XD

Although I am disappointed that my all-time favorite pokemon was stuck with something as worthless as Inner Focus until GenV...at least Slip Through looks like it'll make Crobat a lot more useful. :D

You do not know how many times Steadfast has helped when facing Crobats. =D

But I do like Static and Magnet Pull, not for their battling aspects, but for the help in chaining. x)

Technician I find to be very useful. It's the better of the 2 options for Ambipom, who is one of my favourites that I insist on running on my in-game team.
Synchronize can be really useful as well.
I really like Slowbros ability Own Tempo, which prevents confusion. It's one of the best things about him :D

Static is my friend, as is Shed Skin. I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned that one- it's not that common IIRC, but it's quite useful, and I love how it means using items to cure statuses less. Although sometimes it makes me a little overconfident, and I don't use status-healing items even when I should.
Levitate annoys me to no end.

I like Rock head coupled with Double Edge. Static of course and Poison Point and Effect Spore as well.

I do also have a butterfree(Compound Eyes) and Bannete(Frisk) have the butterfree fainted at the front of my party so I have the field bonus and have my Bannete frisk and steal anything good.

abilities I hate are Truant,Tangled Feet, and Klutz

Personally I wish they would give some better/more pokemon Scrappy.
One of the best abilities is Serene Grace. Espically when used on a pokemon with an Ancient Power type move, lol.
Ugh I cant stand when u have a decent pokemon with a useless ability its like,"really"...
lol Keen Eye for Sand Attack spammers genius
I no another good one is Clear Body, rare as it may be as the only pokemon that have it are the Tentacool,Beldum lines. But it helps alot.
We all hate Static lets be honest lol

There is only one ability I dislike....Snow Warning.

Snover's cute...I want to use it, but I'll never win thanks to it killing every other team member.....

Truant's cool - if we didn't have it, Slaking'd be too overpowered, and it'd be impossible to defeat Norman in RSE without a lv.40 Blaziken / Hariyama.

I love Inner Focus - I remember on Platinum rematches Maylene's Hitmontop would always use Fake Out....Dragonite didn't flinch, so I could use Dragon Dance, then defeat her with only Outrage (Lum Berry ftw!)

I hate Traunt (unless in a double/triple battle)
Hey hey hey, be thankful for traunt. Without it Slaking would obliterate everything. :O

I wish they would make Run Away and Pick-up more useful in battle.

Run Away: The opponent's speed is lowered every time this Pokemon is switched out?

    Pick-up: The Pokemon can't lose it's item?

Oh I'll put down the ones I can remember!

Hydration - Perfect for walls. Rest + Rain Dance + Hydration is a perfect combination.

Water/Volt Absorb - Really helpful for Vaporeon + Jolteon.

Motor Drive - I love sending out Gyarados, then switching in Electivire and getting a boost from the inevitable Thunderbolt.

Sychronise - Really handy for my Umbreon.

    Can't think of any more!
