I banked down sharply, turning sharply to cut my speed. Landing just outside the city, I met Tear and said "Turn back. I don't want you to get tangled in this." She looked hurt and said "What if she hurts you?" She'd left no doubt as to who "she" was. I responded "That doesn't matter. My life is hers now. I'm only useful so long as I can protect her." Tear growled at that and said "At least let me help you hunt him. I shook my head ad replied "No. This is my fight. Rachel's only involved because she captured me. Please, Tear, leave. I'll find you again." I gave her an akward hug, wrapping my arms around her neck, careful to keep my blades well away. She whispered a goodbye, then turned back into the forest, looking dejected. It hurt me, to be sure, but it had to be done. The vows I'd taken to her were almost as stong as the ones that bound me to Rachel. I turned around myself and stepped out of the woods and into the outskirts of Slateport.

Flygon landed, and I slipped off her back, though didn't recall her to her pokeball. "No one will mess with you if you keep it obvious you belong to me. But lets save ourselves the trouble, let's find your trainer fast, preferrably before he finds us." I said to Ahndrith, glancing around. it had been so long since I had last been here, though it hadn't changed much...

"Doubtful he's still here" I replied tersely. I was already checking for his signs, though. A few distinctive traits of his. I added "Don't worry about time, I can track him well enough." There it wa, his scent. Human, combined with an odd, acrid oder, one that was definately not of this world. I moved off after it, slowly following the scent trail. I kept my eyes all but glued to the ground, scanning for tracks. In such a highly-populated area, they were hard to make out, but the bootprints that were his own were indeed there. I motioned for Rachel to follow carefully.

I nodded, and followed carefully, recalling Flygon to the pokeball. she was my best friend, but here, she would only cause trouble. I swallowed nervously, and glanced around. I couldn't tell where, but I felt that we were being followed. I shook it off, deciding i was just being paranoid.. I knew that this wasn't safe, but I had promiced him I would do this..

Something was odd, I could feel that much. The years I'd served as a scout for my warrior society, Sha'made, Conde, the Thunder Walkers told me that much. I rapidly ran through all possibilities, all possible threats that could give me this feeling. I wheeled around and lept, tackling Rachel. Three small darts hit right where she'd been, rhight where she was. I could feel the burn of poison already. They'd missed any crucial veins, and my thick skin prevented a lot of damage, but still. It was a storng poison, I doubted I could keep going for very long without treatment.

It was shocking so see that Ahndrith had protected me, even though I was a bit sore from hitting the ground, but withen moments I had a set of berries out and said "When you get the chance, eat these, they'll act as an antidote" as I looked around to see who or what had shot the darts...

"Trap" I gasped, taking the berries and eating them. It would be a while before I felt better, even with the antidote. It seemed to be a fast-acting poison, as well as bloody strong. I reached behind me and yanked the darts out. They confirmed my theories. A notch in the back and nothing in the way of fletchings. I scanned quickly for a tripwire, something that would have set them off. Nothing, but then again, my vision was a bit blurry. I'd have to return to this later. I thought A step ahed. Always a steap ahead of me. Outwardly, I said. "Stick close to my until I can get you to somewhere safe. He's after me, I can feel it." Indeed I could, the darts exuded a chill, the feel of something he'd given a special touch to.

I nodded, realising that now was not a time to argue. Even despite my misgivings, I was on my feet. I wasn't sure there was a safe place in Slateport, if this guy was anywhere as nasty as Ahndrith said he was. But, I had to trust the pokemon, despite my phobia of Scythers. but my fear would probably become apparent tonight...

I moved off through the city, albeit far slower than I would have liked. Slateport itself didn't contain any safe places, but there was a small cave outside the city that I'd used early on after my escape, while I was still struggling to stay alive. It was far too small for Chaos to enter, but quite spacious inside, enough for Rachel to release a Pokemon to protect herself if need be. I needed a bit to recover as well before moving back off into the hunt. It was a short enough walk from where we were to the cave entrance. It was more a hole in the ground really, but dead useful. I said to Rachel "In."

I moved inside, not bothering to question the advice. I had to trust my pokemon, even though this one had nearly killed me just a few minutes ago. Once inside, i released Arcanine as I sat aginst the wall, Arcanine virtually laying on top of me, protecting me and keeping me warm with its fur. It was like having a heating blanket, though I would wait until my paranoia dissapated before I ended up dozing off...

I crawled into the hole after her. Oddly enough, the poison seemed to be getting worse. That shouldn't have happened, I knew those berries to prove an amazingly effective antidote. I couldn't deny that I was feeling worse, though. My limbs felt like water and I was hot, feverish. I pulled myself up against against the wall and wrapped my arms around my legs, gasping for air.

I noticed his condition and recalled Arcanine to his pokeball. It was obvious something was very wrong. But despite my years of pokemon experience, I couldn't identify what kind of toxin could have caused it. I got out another Full Restore, ready to use it on him when the time was right. It was obvious the antidote wasn't working, so my only hope was to keep him alive long enough to fight off the toxin on his own.

My gut felt like it was on fire now. Every motion made it worse. My breathing was fast becoming shallow, rapid. I had no idea what could have done something like this, but I knew full well who. Very few people had this much skill with poisons. I rasped to Rachel, hoping she's get my meaning, "Find the wounds on my neck. Make incisions around them, try to drain the thing." My vision was getting blurry now, and my fever seemed worse. I started seeing odd things, old memories thought long forgotten. I was becoming delerious.

I moved next to him, finding the wounds quickly. I got out a small knife, memories of what I origonally used it for soming back to mind. normally I only used it to treat advanced fin rot on the few pokemon I had with flowy fins, but either way, it was still sharp and clean. I carefully made the required cuts into his neck, not deep, but it should be enough to drain the toxin out of him. at least, I hoped so. I had also made it so it caused the least nerve damage possible, basicly trying to make it as painless as I could manage.

I had taken off after them when they had left, but the fact of it was I simply couldn't fly as fast. I was racing to catch up in the direction they had gone, but left my behind. I believed that I had found the place they were talking about, but I couldn't be sure as I circled slowly above the city, scouting with my keen eyes for any sign of the female or the creature. I had to find her and be certain that she was all right. I wouldn't lie to myself, I didn't trust her around that thing...

Aura took off after the Scyther. She teleported anytime she lsot sight of him to be right below where she projected him to be. Aura was exceptionalyl fast for an Espeon. Aur agave up running and jumped into the air and began floating. She came alongside the Scyther. "Hey, can you pelase help me find Rachel?" asked Aura as she flew next to him. She hoped he'd help. She wanted to protect Rachel. Something told Aura everything wasn't right.

In my mental state, I imagined that I could feel the toxin drain away. Perhaps I could, no matter. I would still need time to recover, but I was sure enough that I'd live through it. That thought in mind, I lapsed into a deep sleep, far deeper than what I usually allowed myself. Blood loss, from the wound in my arm, the lingering effects of the battle, the poison. It was hard to admit, but I needed the rest.

I awoke in the cave, but it wasn't the cave. Rachel wasn't there, nor the Arcanine. Indeed, t looked as though they'd never been there. I checked myself, surprised to find that I was in perfect condition. Cautiously, I crawled from the cave and looked round. Everything seemed bright. Too bright. The whole place had an air of impermanance. The extra light seemed to come from both everywhere and nowhere all at once. Odd. Climbing to my feet, I took a few tentative steps, trying to make sure that I wouldn't fall through this non-world, or whatever it was.

As he fell asleep, I didn't bother disturbing him, and I waited in silence, focusing. I knew the other Scyther would be catching up soon, but it didn't matter. I leaned back aginst the wall of the cavern, partially falling asleep, though I stayed alert enough so if anything came near, or if Ahndrith moved, I'd be awake and moving withen seconds...

After I had nearly gone mad searching, I had found a place that smelled faintly of them both. I searched around, until I found the direction where the scent was slightly stronger, meaning they had gone that way. I began to follow the course until I found myself at a small, almost miniscule cave. I crouched at the entrance, laying down on my belly, and breathed in. They were definitely in there. I smelled blood, but it wasn't hers, so I could assume something had happened to the thing...

Aura sighed after recieving no answer and followed the Scyther. She immediatly perked up as the scent of Rachel found its way up to Aura's pretty strong nose. Aura flew down with the Scyther and landed softly on the ground. Aura looked around and then preceeded into the cave. But before enetering. she bowed her head to the Scyther.

"Thanks for leading me to Rachel." said Aura thankfully as she then spun around and walked into the cave. The smell of blood that reached her nose unnerved her as she walked in, even though she could tell it wasn't Rachel's.
