"Pokemon aren't as creative as they used to be"

^ That is just... so, so true...

As for my opinions... maybe they are getting a little bit unoriginal? But hey, there's nearly 500 Pokemon; some ideas end up being redone time and time again. As long as there are plenty of unique concepts and real-life animals to build these things on, Pokemon's creator shouldn't have too much of a problem. And hey, there are still evolutions that can be made for older Pokemon, too.

Also, Apostrophe. I agree with you on the animals thing; I STILL don't have an official one of my favorite animal, a tiger, Growlithe/Arcanine be damned.

Bottom line though? There are still original Pokemon around in every generation IMO, even if some ideas have been done and redone before.

I think so far they have done a great job on the beeing creative part.. But that's only so far... I mean what happens when they run out of creative ideas? Mrs.Mime?

But people need to stop using the word "nostalgia" to block their views from the real problem.

I'm sorry, what?
I know countless people who claim that Pokemon Red is the best because it was the first, despite all of the bugs and hammy mechanics.
Nostalgia is the blindfold on the eyes of constructive criticism.

In my opinion, they have been getting more creative. except for luvdisc
Its just something we arent used to. The older designs were more simple, stuff we've had as a kid
the newer one is more complex. different. and new.

Whoa, man..
i get you. now that you say it, I think you're totally right. We're just not used to that much creativity and effort, I guess.. :/

It's probably only because I have been a Pokemon uber fan since the age of 4, but I simply cannot play a game past Johto.

I would run around as a kid pretending to be a Ratatta (my favorite pokemon), and dreaming (as 4 year olds to) and one day me and my best friend would run into a mew.

Just last night, me and my friend were trading over Leafgreen and firered (easy hack to getting every pokemon) and we were talking about how much we missed when there were pokemon that did not have evelutions, and we could name all the pokemon without too much trouble.

I have only seen 4 shows of the Gen. 4 season, and none of them really 'spoke' to me like all of the kanto and johto seasons did. It felt like the end of an era to me when I saw them.

To me, there are 251 pokemon, and the final one ever created will always be Celebi is the last one in the series.

I play in pokemon video game tournaments fairly often, and every time I go to one I battle at least three kids playing a generation 4 game, who tell me they have never battled someone on Leafgreen. It's really cute, actually, one time I was up against a little kid, and later on he wanted to talk to me, so he said, "Hey, girl with the old pokemon!" He made me laugh when he said that.

My point: I just realy find it hard to love the new pokemon like I do the old.

Actually i still think they are creative names. But, not as good as the old ones.
