Hopefully you're right, even though apparently the GL got nothing to do with Pokebank. Honestly though, tomorrow seems like a more than logical release date, being two weeks since Japan got it. Anyways, I'm hoping it gets released tomorrow, because I'm getting really sick of this wait, especially since there has been no announcement about the release date. Also, if I remember correctly, the maintenance period is a little longer than usual...................

At this point it's an exercise in futility to expect anything "logical" with this whole situation. Nintendo's proven logic isn't really their biggest priority.

Nintendo's "Extended Maintenance" starts in about 10 minutes, they're not just updating the GL, full maintenance on the game until midnight pacific time. Since no major problems are really known at this time, usually means they're changing other things besides just he sync, and that's just a minor change really. That plus, the typical release day being Tuesday, and the amount of time Japan has had the bank, this is probably the most evidence we've had for a possible bank release.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but not only are the things you mentioned down, but so is the whole pokemon.com website. Don't know if its a big deal or not, but I don't remember them taking it down while doing other maintenance.

WHOA the entire site got a make over for Pokemon.com It looks like it got a Windows 8 upgrade...not sure if I like.

Just checked the 3DS Store, still TBD'd.

Connected to the internet so there is still a connection to GTS system.
Checking GTS...GTS is still up and running through the maintenance.

Wonder Trade still works. So the full GTS server is still up even though the PGL site is down.

Well the Random Battle and Battle Spot are both still up.

Will try to sync later but so far the game aspects are still active.

Sync didn't work. Says PGL is under maintenance.

it did say it may go down, so they might just be doing one thing at a time so that people can still play

PGL has nothing to do with the bank though. They are ran on different systems. The Japanese PGL didn't go down for maintenance when they got the bank back or for the original release of the bank.

PGL isn't the only thing under maintenance, ALL of pokemon x and y is. Please people, stop focusing on the global link.

I have yet to see anything about X and Y going under maintenance. Its just the Global Link getting updated with sync data so far.

Only thing getting an update for X and Y will be online play data which is related to the PGL.

    From Monday, February 3, 2014 4:00 PM
    - Tuesday, February 4, 2014 12:00 AM Pacific Time
    Affected Services:
    Nintendo 3DS
    - Online Play, Rankings, etc. for Pokémon™ X, Pokémon™ Y

How it is to be read:

Starting on Monday, February 3rd 2014 at 4 pm Pacific Time (which was 2 hours ago for me) until Tuesday February 4th, 2012 at Midnight Pacific Time, Nintendo 3DS service will be going through maintenance. The items being affected are the online play, ranking, and etc. for the video games Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

The entirety isn't getting shut down, and the servers are still up and running apparently for the game in general.

Online play and rankings isn't part of the PGL, all the PGL does is link your specific game to their servers for pointless in game stuff like pokemiles and medals. Battle Spot, GTS, stuff like that is online play and it may or may not go down. Most companies who know what they're doing can keep things running while they fix/upgrade. Plus it's a 6 hour maintenance, so it could go out still.

PGL keeps a track record of your online battles and its updates are slower than the game's. The updates are to sync the game data and the PGL data to keep accurate records of what's going on. Online Play and Ranking are through the PGL system.

PGL has nothing to do with PokeBank however. Its a completely different system with a different host. It interacts to the games in a different way.

Last I heard there wasn't any way to access the Bank through a computer setting, so I don't think PGL is getting a Pokebank link up. Pokebank is going to be done through the 3DS and it will interact with the cloud storage through the Nintendo Wifi.

They also started a new Battle Spot competition yesterday I believe so the general update may be for that tournament as well. Late update to fix the data up until the day before which started the tournament.

On the other side of the fence....stalking Nintendo of America and Pokemon's Twitter accounts due to an odd itch that's bothering me.

*sigh* If this silence of PokéBank keeps up, it might be better to just buy another 3DS if one has need of transferring their 'mons from one game to another, assuming that one has both games, like I do.

    Really, this is ridiculous!

does anyone have and theories or a little bit of explanation on why they wont release pokebank?

It's because this is Nintendo we're talking about. The are so far behind the competition dealing with systems like these. I have a strong dislike for Nintendo, this being one of the reasons. The only reason I even purchase Nintendo products is because of Pokémon. If Pokémon decided to move over to Sony I would lose my mind!!

Just look at their gaming systems, their online systems etc. The constant babysitting Nintendo does is annoying as well. They shut an ENTIRE 3DS program down because some kids were swapping pornography with it. Are you kidding!? That system is never coming back out as far as I know.

Originally Pokémon probably went with Nintendo because of their successful handheld business. Pokémon now though could move to say the PS Vita and still be just as successful. Everybody had to buy a 3DS for this newest generation. Maybe I'm just biased, I've wanted Pokémon to leave Nintendo for years now. Things like Pokébank just provide evidence at how far behind Nintendo really is.
