Pokemon: Black Infection [IC]

Elisha let out an odd sort of squeal at Naren, who nodded. "Ya got any way ta beat a bug type?" She figured he must. He looked stronger than her. He probably was. Everyone was. She felt a flicker of pain a moment. Bella had somehow bitten her arm. The creature was agitated, growling irritably. Naren mumbled softly. It was likely because of the violet auras not too far away. Shadow Pokemon could sense others and htere were quite a few Slowpoke who were infected by the virus. Bella settled at this, realizing it wouldn't do her any good to run off.

"You should send out your POkemon!" Elisha told Scott. She knew he wouldn't understand but maybe he would! You never knew with humans. She wanted to meet this Pokemon, even though it was probably grumpier than Bella. She was proud of her human right now for understanding. Wait, why didn't this human know? Could he not see the colors?

Elizabeth: "I hail from Johto..!"

Awkward. They were /in/ Johto, yet Elizabeth had just said she was not from around here and proceeded to contradict that. This was of course because she didn't believe she was still in Johto. It was too different! People were too different! How could she be? She seemed somewhat proud to admit where she came from. It was because she really missed Johto, or rather the Johto she used to know. Now that she was here, she was constantly in a state of culture shock. One could simply not describe how much all this factored into her missing her home time with a burning passion. Yet, for one reason or another she was willing to try to adapt.

Meanwhile, Cubone's eye twitched when she was bugged by Celes again. She just sort of didn't react for a moment. The eevee then started walking within her view however and she looked down to meet Celes's eyes. Now, it's important to note that Cubone wears a skull over her face. Her facial expression, except for her eyes, is almost always hidden. Yet, her eyes were clearly frustrated. Cubone just sort of hefted her thick club over her shoulder and finally spoke up in a mildly aggravated tone.

Cubone: "/Hi/"

And then Meowth spoke up again, his tone all matter-o-fact.

Meowth: "Don't mind her. She's /usually/ this hard-headed."

It was of course, a lightly disguised insult. Cubone immediately turned in Meowth's direction and waved her bone club at him in a warning manner.

Cubone: "You're just sore because you'll break your claws before you scratch /this/ skull."

Cubone practically hissed the words out. She was obviously not on very friendly terms with Meowth. Meowth responded by bearing his claws at Cubone.

Meowth: "Oh yeaaah? Well how about your /back/? Can I scratch /that/?!"

The two were not actually within fighting distance, but it would only take a moment for them to close that ground if they so decided to. At the moment however, they were not advancing on each other.

"Johto huh?" Scott said. He thought a moment before it sank in. Then his face turned into a sort of bemused expression. She's not from around here, but she's from Johto... Well, it was a fairly large region. And around here had several different menaings. She could simply be from a different part of the region. Scott had no reason to suspect otherwise. He was still trying to puzzle out what Naren was saying, so he didn't respond to her for a moment.

"Right, well, course I got a way to beat bug types! You just saw my hand, didn't you?" Scott said excitedly. He grinned at Naren, glad to be talking about something he knew well. And even if he didn't have something for the leader, he wasn't going to lose! Caelara's pokeball shook again. Scott looked down at it. He knew this was a bad idea. He couldn't fully control Caelara himself. So, he let her remain in her ball.

Celes looked at Elisha a moment. She was confused.

"You really want a cat fight to break out? Between Caelara and the grumpy gus over here, we'd have an all out brawl! Caelara isn't a shadow pokemon anymore, but it seems like she forgets that sometimes," she said quietly. She turned to Cubone.

"Oh, do stop it! There is no need for all this! And you! There was no need to be insulting!" Celes said to Cubone and Meowth. She was ever trying to keep the peace. The last thing she wanted was to have to break up a fight between a couple of kits.

Elisha frowned. "But, but..." Oh she didn't get it. "So the Pokemon was aggressive and mean. So was Bella and she was calming down. Kind of. It wasn't like ignoring the Pokemon would make her nice. So maybe they could talk to her. Maybe. Or Naren could. Naren could likely see the anger. Elisha looked down and remained curled against Elizabeth. Other people were weird.

Naren nodded. She understood that but that wasn't what she meant. She meant speedwise. Bugs were fast and even a fast Pokemon couldn't quite match their movements. And close range attack was even more deadly. Her win had been by pure luck and she knew that very well. So... she wondered... "Wanna battle?" she offered softly before pausing, looking confused. Why had she asked that? Why had she just offered herself up as a chance to lose? Wait... wouldn't it be better if Elizabeth battled him? For experience? How did this work? She really disliked interaction sometimes.

Elizabeth didn't see what amused Scott, but oh well. She didn't see a lot of things. She had her attention grabbed by the angry cries of her pokemon and looked down at them, watching them with a concerned expression on her face. Despite this she remained silent, still cuddling Elisha. The small pokemon seemed a bit tired to her.

Meanwhile Cubone spun to Celestial and shook her bone club at the eevee in a similar warning motion she had used on Meowth. She seemed pretty angry.

Cubone: "/You/ stay out of this! I should show you both what it /means/ to be broken!"

Cubone then proceeded to turn her back on Celes and began walking away from the group as if she intended to leave altogether. Yet, in truth, she just wanted some space.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth glanced at Naren. Had she just asked Scott to battle? Elizabeth wondered why someone with a home and food like Naren would need to battle. She of course was still very new at the training scene. It occurred to her that perhaps Naren was doing it purely to get stronger. Was she supposed to watch and learn from it? Nobody was telling her anything, so she felt a bit overwhelmed. Was she supposes to be involved with this somehow?

Meanwhile Meowth sighed wistfully, holding up his arms all in a way that seemed to say 'Oh well, what can you do?'. He didn't seem concerned with was Cubone was saying or did.

Meowth: "I'm just saying, it's the truth!"

He seemed to be talking to Celestial, as Cubone had already moved out of conversation range.

Meowth: "She doesn't want to listen! She just wants to be left to herself."

Meowth went on. How long had he been judging Cubone for her behavior?

Meowth: "Wouldn't even listen when I tried to explain that her trainer is from the past... It's ridiculous!"

Celes was a little irritated, and bit back an angry retort. She huffed, stuck her head in the air, and walked back to Scott. He was grinning. It didn't matter what lanuage you spoke, or how bad your accent was, there was one word that he would always understand. She turned and looked at Meowth. From the past? What? Celes didn't understand, not one bit.

"A battle? You bet! But don't think I'm gonna go easy on you!" Scott said as his hand dropped and he grabbed Caelara's pokeball, which stopped moving. It was one thing for her to go nuts and try to fight the other pokemon, it was another thing entirely to do so during a battle. He made the mistake of releasing her now, however, and in a flash she was after Cubone.

"You brat! I'll tear you apart! No one pushes around my pride but me!" she yelled as she rammed into Cubone with Tackle.

"Whoa Caelara, you weren't supposed to attack Cubone!" Scott said, but Caelara wasn't listening. Celes sat down and laughed. One, maybe that would shut that annoying Cubone up if Caelara knocked her out. And if Caelara lost, maybe it would teach the Shinx a little bit more respect!

Elisha knew what was coming. She squirmed from Elizabeth's arms and walked to stand in front of Naren's feet. Naren sensed more than saw her friend's discomfort. She smiled back at Elizabeth. "S' all righ'" the girl stated. "Fightin' can be fun too. Jus' watch and see."

"Yeah," Elisha chimed in. She smiled at Celes. "Le's have a good battle kay?" She liked to fight, she liked to win, but she wasn't going to say she would. She wanted to not push anymore buttons.

Naren watched the other two POkemon about to fight and paused, almost curious.

Elizabeth watched her pokemon interact and just sort of stared at Cubone as she walked away. Huh. She didn't really get what was going on there, but it didn't look like happy fun time. That was for sure. She then turned her attention to Scott after hearing he was accepting the challenge to battle. She watched as he sent out his pokemon, only to see a shinx sprint off after Cubone! Elizabeth was further confused by this. Was she battling Scott? Her only thought was that she wished she knew what was going on. She was a bit disappointed when Elisha wiggled out of her cuddle hug and went to go battle, but she supposed she understood that much.

Cubone was taken by surprise and tackled from behind as she was walking along. She let out a brief cry and stumbled forwards a bit from the impact. Caelara had gotten her free hit, but that was pretty much it. Cubone turned on Caelara the moment she regained her balance, proceeding to come at the shinx with her thick bone club raised above her, swinging it with great force down at Caelara. She uttered no words, as the fight had already grown too serious for them. Have no doubt however that she was angry.

Meanwhile, Meowth chimed in to answer Celes' confusion, beginning to rhythmically wave his tail around behind him at a slow pace.

Meowth: "Yeah, y'know! From back in time... Before all this modern technological stuff was made!"

Meowth honestly didn't know exactly how Elizabeth had gotten stuck here. He did know, from what she had spoken openly about, that a lot of technology didn't exist back where she came from.

Meowth: "Somehow, she got transported to the future!--"

Meowth was about to go on explaining when he heard the cry of a cubone. He looked over at Cubone, seeing that she was fighting with a shinx and just sort of observed it for a moment. That was one fight he didn't want to get involved in. From what had happened in the forest, he knew that Cubone could hit absurdly hard with her bone club. He wasn't quite sure how such a little pokemon could pack so much power.

Scott nodded and was about to call out to Caelara, but she had gone. When he spotted her again, she was being smacked on the head by the Cubone's Bone Club. Caelara stumbled around, hissing madly.

"That all you got? Ha!" she sputtered. Celes simply started laughing at her. Scott shook his head.

"Caelara, over here... That's not helping things," Scott mumbled. Celes got up and walked over to Caelara, still laughing. She bit down on the shinx's tail and dragged her back toward Scott.

"Heheheh, anyone that makes her shut up that well is ok with me!" Celes called out to Cubone. Caelara simply lay on the ground next to Scott, rubbing her head and muttering obsceneties about cubones in general and Cubone in particular. Celes looked at Meowth and nodded, understanding a little better, but still trying to wrap her mind around the concept.

"Uh... Sure... Yeah, a good battle! Celes! Let's take care of buisiness!" Scott said after a moment. Celes grinned and walked out in front of Scott, her tail twitching in anticipation. She was strong, and she knew it. Scott's strongest, to be precise! And she was proud of that fact. Caelara lay near Scott's feet, still griping about getting smacked around by that Cubone.

Naren nodded weakly at the sight of this. She truly felt outclassed right now. She had only two Pokemon and this kid had four... she was definitely going to lose. She shook herhead and lowered her eyes in discomfort. Elisha let out a "Quil!" of challenge, causing Naren to stiffen slightly. She clenched her fists. She had to try at least. She hadn't thought she could beat Bugsy and she had managed a victory right there! SHe had to try. Elisha wanted to win.

"Quick," the girl said softly. Elisha took off, spinning in a Quick Attack, only for her body to spark with electricity at the last second. "Wild Charge," Naren finished quetly, looking up for a moment through her bangs. Ah.. she could see emotional colors all over the place again. Her hands twitched toward her goggles and she pulled it back to her side. No... she had to get over this! She couldn't rely on her mother's actions, her smothering. It...she couldn't lose.

Elisha grinned as she shot past Celes. She whirled around and fired herself back again. THis attack was probably going to miss. But that was fine. She could attack again and again and again! She was definitely going to win! SHe was not as strong as Celes but that didn't mean a thing!

Scott noticed Naren's drop in confidence. He didn't like that. She needed to be more confident in herself and her pokemon if she wanted to win!

"Hey! You should relax! This is just a friendly battle! And I'm sure you'll do great!" Scott called to her. He wondered if he should take it easy on her. No, she'd probably be able to tell and that would make things worse than if he tried his best and ended up winning.

"Besides, if you're not confident in your pokemon, then they might doubt you. Not Elisha, but others that don't know you as well. Trust in yourself and in your pokemon. You can do it!" Scott called out to her again. He smiled. Of course, he trusted in his pokemon, and he was confident in them. So it would be a tough one for sure. Celes leapt out of the way using Detect, and she spun around and shot a Shadow Ball at Elisha as she went. She could keep this up all day! She wondered idly which of them would get tired first. Because that would be when the mistakes came, unless Elisha tried something else.

Naren stiffened. You can do it huh...For some reason, those words being directed at her made her ill. She had heard the opposite more times than not, from her mother no less. Who was she meant to believe, the woman who had pretended to raise her or some stranger? Especially some stranger with an overly emotional look and feel. Agh, there were so many colors. It made her sick. She placed a hand to her head, wincing slightly.

Elisha reacted reflexively, shattering the move with Extrasensory. She glanced at Naren, who had begun to shake slightly. Color overload. She knew that look better than most. It was a rare thing around so few people but Elisha figured it had to do with the Shinx. Naren glanced at her a moment and mouthed something. Elisha nodded. She knew what Naren's thoughts were now. The girl was unconfident. Caution was deeply ingrained into her sense of being. She was easily freaked out. However, she knew her Pokemon as well. THey didn't want to lose.

So she began to run at Celes again in a Quick Attack, firing Embers at her as well. She wasn't sure if Detect could counter two attacks at once.

Cubone raised her home club again with pretty clear intent to bring it down on that Shiny. Yet, she hesitated. Caelara looked pretty sang out of it as it was. The shiny was sputtering her words and judging by the way she was acting she might not be capable of attacking back. Nobody could really blame Caelara for going down like that. It usually only took one hit on pokemon who /weren't/ weak to ground type moves. Or at least, this applied to pokemon around her power level, which wasn't that high, at the moment. Yet, it was above the average wild pokemon, so... In the moment or two in which Cubone hesitated, Caelara had been dragged off by one of her trainer's other pokemon. Cubone allowed this to happen. She honestly didn't really want do kill the poor thing or something. Was Celes... showing approval of her? Cubone was taken by surprise. She was for all intents and purposes a loner. She did what she wanted, and didn't usually care if someone approved of it or not. Hence, her attitude. That being said she didn't usually earn the approval of others. It was... pleasant. She couldn't deny it. She.enjoyed approval. It was often hard on her to refuse to let others dictate what she does. The exception to this of course, was her trainer. What had possessed someone like Cubone to willingly enter service under Elizabeth? Nobody knew except maybe Cubone herself. Cubone rubbed the side of her skull helmet briefly, letting her bone club drop and looking up before she spoke up, replying to Celes.

Cubone: "Uh... thanks!"

As awkward as it might've been, her thank you was genuine. Meanwhile Elizabeth just sort of acknowledged the short battle that had taken place with her eyes. She didn't know what to say, what to do. Therefore, she remained silent as she returned her attention to Naren's battle with Scott. She was watching, though she wasn't sure what exactly she was looking for.

Meanwhile Meowth strolled up to Cubone. Was he looking for trouble? Kind of vaguely seemed like it.

Meowth: "Geez, if you bonked anymore pokemon upside he head you'd be a-"

Cubone just sort of abruptly took a swing at Meowth, though Meowth nimbly ducked under it at the last possible moment.

Meowth: "Alright, alright..!! You big jerk..."

That last part seemed to go unnoticed by Cubone, who promptly sat down I'm the ground and stretched her arms. She still seemed a bit tired, somehow.

Celes dodged the Embers and took the Quick Attack. She hit the ground and growled, rolling as she got to her feet. She closed the distance with Elisha. Two could play at ramming each other! And Celes was a lot stronger phsically than Elisha... Or so it seemed. All Celes knew was that Caelara Tackled harder. Celes charged head long at Elisha with Tackle, blasting a Shadow Ball at her as she went.

Scott looked at Naren with concern. Was she ok? Was there something wrong? Had he done something wrong? He was only trying to encourage her!

"Are you alright? Did I say something wrong? Naren?" Scott asked worriedly. Caelara stood up and looked at Scott. Why was he bothering? Hmm... Caelara gazed out at the battle that was going on, thinking that maybe she should get in on this when Celes fell. Didn't matter that she was hurt already. She wasn't going to let a little crack to the skull flatten her! No, she'd go out there and win, just to spite that bratty Cubone and Celes!

Naren didn't reply, fingers still resting on the side of her head. She saw the Shinx's emotions surge and shuddered. Bella glanced at her human and glared at the Shinx irritably. "Oi blockhead. Cool your paws! You're hurting my human!" She didn't like Naren but she was her trainer and knew her pretty well for only knowing each other a few hours. And, bluntly, that cat was too arrogant for her tastes. She would beat her up herself if Naren allowed it. But only if allowed. You obeyed your trainer no matter what. And that badge she held meant she was worthy of that respect.

It was amazing what Pokeballs could do.

Elisha let the Shadow Ball come close and hit, getting rid of some of the damage with Extrasensory as she fired the Psychic energy at Celes. The Pokemon aimed to Tackle her and succeeded, just after ELisha had used Wild Charge.

Naren watched quietly, weakly. SHe was waiting, expecting the strategy to fail. That was the key to her next move. If it didn't, well, there was something seriously wrong with this scenario.

Scott smiled at Naren encouragingly. She really looked uncomfortable. Maybe this had been a bad idea. Of course, now that he was actually in a battle, he was not about to lose. Never. He didn't know how to not try everything in his power to win. He smiled, wondering just why she had challenged him. Caelara stood up, looking bored.

"Shinx!" she said with a huff. Scott looked down at her and she flicked her tail at him. She looked out at the battle. Scott thought a moment. Caelara was already hurt from fighting, well, getting smacked around by Cubone.

"What, you want to get in on this?" Scott asked her. She simply gave him an annoyed look. Scott smirked. This would probably throw Naren for a loop. After all, why send in a damaged pokemon when you have two healthy ones ready to fight! He glanced out at Celes, who had taken the Extrasensory, but rolled out of the way of the Wild Charge. Of course, the psychic attack had been weakened when it blocked some of the Shadow Ball.

"Celes! Return! Caelara, get out there and use Spark!" Scott called out suddenly. He smirked knowingly at Naren as Celes was returned to her pokeball. Caelara stretched out and walked into the battlefield. She hissed irritatedly at Elisha before running right at her, electricity sparking off her body until she was covered in it.

Elisha glanced back at Naren, who nodded silently. She had been waiting for that. Injured or not, a fighter was a fighter. Besides, it was time to see what Budew was capable of. Elisha leapt back from the fight just as Bella charged in with a Shadow Rush, aiming to slam through Caelara's attack. Naren knelt down to pick up Elisha as the POkemon waddled back toward her. Cyndaquil fired an encouraging flame into the air.

"Show that little brat what you can do Bella," the fire mouse cheered. Budew huffed and snorted. No need to tell her twice.

"So," she stated conversationally as she propelled herself forward. "A former Shadow facing a Shadow. Sounds pretty simple to me. Is it for you? OR are you too arrogant to get over yourself?" She scoffed a bit. "Isn't the ability Rivalry so cruel? It makes you constantly think you're second best. It's true in your case though."

Elisha shook her head. "Are we sure this is a good teammate?" Naren didn't seem to hear, watching the emotional lights dance on the field. Pride versus anger. Which was more negative in this scenario? Which one was easier to use? Hm... best let it play out, like Bugsy taught them to do. She looked at Bella and blinked. There were small thorns on the little bud. Why hadn't she hurt herself with them yet? WIth her luck she would have been dead by now. Maybe they only showed during battle. If so... it was Poison Point. Nice.

Caelara didn't slow down. No, she increased her pace and leapt over the stupid plant, landing on the ground behind her. She blasted a Shock Wave without even turning and jumped again, toward Naren, skidding to a halt in front of the trainer, finally turning to acknowledge the Shadow Pokemon.

"Oh? So you can speak? Humph, and here I thought the Shadow had taken your mind away. Like I told Cubone, I won't let anyone push me or my pride around. Least of all some ugly little plant thing!" Caelara hissed. She glared at Bella, watching her. From what she remembered about being a Shadow Pokemon, she would probably only have access to two moves. One of which was Shadow Rush. The other was more than likely Shadow Hold or Shadow Mist. Neither of which would be particularly useful. Of course, things may be different for the thing in front of her. So, best to be careful. Caelara hissed at the plant again.

"Anyways, if I really am second best, why don't you get your ugly tail over here and prove it!" Caelara said, beginning to use Charge, electricity crackling around her as she gained it's power.

Naren watched the Shinx skid in front of her and closed her eyes. Shock wave wasn't supposed to miss right? Like Aerial Ace. But... Bella! She had charged through it. Grass Pokemon weren't hurt too much by Electric moves normally... and being a Shadow Pokemon made it even less painful. Still... She knew Bella, had used the Pokedex to find out her moves when she had gotten up this morning. HEr moveset wasnt complete but... it had more than just two moves. Why though? Oh... the shrine. Ilex Forest was a place like Agate, filled with Celebi's energy. That kind of made sense.

Meanwhile, Bella shook off the attack and stood patiently. "You assume I'm going to push your pride around? Why, because you do it yourself? Weakling. Not everyone needs to bully to earn respect." She opened her bud slightly and fired a beam of red energy at the Charging Shinx. "And, oddly enough, my human has mine. May not like her, but I respect opponents who deserve it. You just deserve a good kick in the furry rear end. I feel bad for your human, if I could. He can't even let you out to be social. You're too busy being a jerk."

"Bella!" Elisha cried. "Stop being mean!"

"Why?" the Budew inquired, firing another red beam of Absorb for good measure. "It's not like she'll listen. I wouldn't. She's probably too high up in the clouds to get it anyway. Hmph. I wish I could be a savage Shadow type.At least killing you would make sense. Or your human." As she fired a third beam, she activated Shadow Rush, aiming for Naren, for a good reason of course. Her trainer didn't flinch, merely watched.

(OOC: I've been playing Gale of Darkness and feel you should know that Shadow pokemon don't gain any resistances for being Shadow. They still take normal damage based on their types. Bella would take half damage from the Shock Wave for being a Grass Type. Not one quarter damage for being a Grass Type and a Shadow Pokemon. Of course, this is your RP, so you can do what you please, but that's how it works in the games.)

Caelara simply took the three Absorbs, still Charging. They hurt, but not that much. She growled angrily and took a step toward Bella, activating Spark. Having Charged four times, the attack was incredibly powerful compared to before.

"Humph... You speak about respect like you have it. You don't have respect for anyone. You think you know it all, but you don't! Respect is something you earn. Unitl you earn mine, why should I even care what you say? You don't even have the sense to know who your enemy is!" Caelara said as she charged right for Bella with Spark, limping a tiny bit at the beginning as she ran. She stopped limping as she picked up speed.

"Caelara! Be careful!" Celes shouted at her. Caelara heard her. She was being careful. But, she wasn't just going to let this go! She would take care of Bella, one way or another!
