Pokemon: Black Infection [IC]

Elizabeth surveyed the tub. The bathroom was certainly more modern, but thankfully she wasn't from so far back that she wouldn't know how to operate a faucet without help. That could have potentially wound up being incredibly awkward, for obvious reasons. Yet... pants. She knew it! She had just known this was going there! Elizabeth became significantly less comfortable now, looking down and quivering a bit. She didn't want to be rude, but she wasn't from a time where it was socially acceptable for girls to wear pants. Regardless of the fact that none of said people were around to judge her, it still felt uncomfortable. Trying her best to be polite about it, she lowered her gaze an spoke in an apologetic tone, trying to hide how much the thought of wearing pants made her angst.

"Pardon me, but... d-do you have any dresses?"

Naren smiled. "Course. Just wait a second." she left to go rummage in her room, the one mama kept for when her daughter had to make an appearance. She came back with a pale blue dress with darker flower embroidery tied with a deep blue sash around the middle. The sleeves barely covered the shoulders.

"Hope this will do," she said quietly. She liked this one and it looked like it could suit Elizabeth. Elisha scrambled after her, shutting the door of the bedroom.

Elizabeth seemed pretty thankful. It was a style alien to her and made of a fabric that felt odd, but odd was not necessarily bad in this case. She would reach out to take Tue dress rather gingerly. Sharing clothes was new, but she was open to it. Just don't make her wear pants! Or shorts for that matter. A short skirt was also probably a bad bet. What could one say. Elizabeth had dignity.

"Thank you..."

Elizabeth said softly, observing the dress. She could be reasonably comfortable wearing this. She did however feel the need to explain herself. She was not oblivious to the fact that Naren might not understand.

"It's just... we're not allowed to wear pants where I come from..."

Of course, there was never any rule restricting Elizabeth from wearing pants. It was simply a known and accepted social faux pas at the time. Elizabeth of course believed she was simply in a foreign land. Hence, she had said where and not when. Given, she also did not know she was still in Johto and that it was not still approximately a hundred years ago. It was however only a matter of time.

Naren smiled again. "Is all right," she replied quietly. "Enjoy the bath." naren left the room, shut the door behind her, and walked to the living room. Once there, she sat down and wept silently. It had made her whole body ache, being back in that forest, by that shrine. If she hadn't been with another person, she probably would have broken down and been killed. Bella left her Pokeball then, glaring and growling. Elisha blew a small flame at her, shutting up the sulky Shadow Pokemon.

Naren stopped shaking when Bella came out and nodded to herself. She wiped her eyes quickly and took a few deep breaths. Her sweater itched she changed quickly into her tank top and thin jacket. Bella attacked her then and Naren caught her. "Stop," she said flatly, surprising herself. "You can't attack your trainer." bella glared.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth figured out the joy of a proper hot bath. Given, only after spending several minutes trying to figure out how to make the water /not/ scald her. After that though, joy. Not /that/ long later she would be finished, feeling cleaner than she had in a while, and at the same time kind of raw. Regardless, overall it was a positive experience.

After drying herself off she got dressed in the clothes provided for her and-wait. What the heck kind of door was this? Elizabeth just sort of blankly stared at what was apparently not an automatic door. It had a door knob. Contrary to popular belief, door knobs were not ancient. Not even close. Latches were the common lock type in Elizabeth's time. She just sort of stared.

...Was it a button? She attempted to press it. No luck. She tried grasping and wiggling it. It jiggled a bit but nothing. She felt a bit of panic set in. The concept that she.was supposed to twist and push was not immediately obvious to her. She pushed and pulled some, but the door would not open. Just when she was starting to freak out a bit she tried playing with the knob again to find it would twist. She twisted it. As it so happened she had been leaning on the door a bit, and it came open. She promptly stumbled out, her heat beating rather fast. Phew! That was a close one.

Naren had been cleaning the dishes, Elisha curled in a towel near the sink. Cyndaquil squeaked in delight at the sight of her. Naren glanced up from the bowl and put it down. "Y'all all right?" she asked warily. Naren hoped her friend hadn't hurt herself too badly. The first aid kit would end up useless. Bella sat by the dishes, looking sulky.

Elizabeth moved into the room and looked around. She had calmed down mostly after narrowly escaping an evil doorknob.

"I'm well, thank you..."

She observed that Naren was cleaning the dishes. She decided to stand and watch. She seemed a bit more energetic than she had been. A good meal and a bath could do wonders for the morale and overall energy levels of someone who had had to go without. Now that Elizabeth wasn't wearing all her more bullies clothes, it might become more apparent to Naren that she was severely underweight. Elizabeth weighed approximately 50 pounds. Given, she was young and short. Even for her size though, that was very underweight.

Elizabeth was a stick. Naren could really say that now. But it was rude so she knew better than ro say so. Instead, she stated. "Th' dress looks good on ya." it did, much better than it had on her. Then again, Naren couldn't see a scar disfiguring Elizabeth's back.

Naren, in a fit of annoyance earlier, had shrugged off her jacket to rest it on the floor while she finished. She forgot she was only wearing a tank top and sports bra though. Oops. It'd be bad if the jacket got wet on dishes. Finishing the drying, naren turned off the sink and pickedup her Cyndaquil, who waved a paw at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth noticed something. Had Naren been crying recently? She decided not to say anything though. At least, not then anyway. Naren seemed pretty self-sufficient to her. Perhaps she would've She then looked down at Elisha, noticing the waving paw. Elizabeth smiled at this. Elisha was friendly enough. Budew's sucking did not grab her attention though. Tank tops were too revealing for Elizabeth's tastes, personally, but she said nothing. She knew full well she was just different.

"Thanks to you..."

Naren flushed and shook her head reflexively. "Didn't do nothin' special. Helping' others is the right thing to do. B'sides, somebody should wear it." Bella huffed. Why was this human so complimentary? It was infuriating! She was so weak. Yetshe had beaten her... Bella wondered where these calm, rational thoughts were coming from. Was it because se had been captured? She would have to find out. Maybe that Cyndaquil knew.

"Ah..." Naren abruptly realized how little she was wearing. "Sorry 'bout that." she put her jacket back on.

Elizabeth blanked. Sadly, when she said thanks to you she actually meant to say thank you. It was her odd way of speaking. Perhaps she would try a different approach, though it was true that it was also Naren's help that had made this possible.

"I give you my thanks."

The term thank you was of course technically shorthand. Shorthand more than anything else had difficulty traversing the times. Elizabeth then approached Naren and cupped her hands in front of her, a gesture.she hadn't given in a while.

"When might we depart..?"

She was not truly impatient to leave, but finding this Red guy seemed important!

Naren cocked her head. Perhaps she had misunderstood. Naren had bee embarrassed by the gratitude. She always was. So she had reflexively played it off. Oh well, it was just a quirk. As for when they left...

"imma thinking we'll start trainin' tomorrow. It's gettin' on late. And Red ain't goin' nowhere neither. I know it. We gotta focus on beatin' the leaders first." Elisha squealed her agreement. She would win again; she just knew it!

Elizabeth stopped. She was allowed to stay the night? It seemed to have been implied. Now /that/ was a dream. She hadn't thought she'd get to sleep in a bed again forever! Housing was expensive! Her expression just sort of became elated all of a sudden.. Hoo boy. If Naren was embarrassed by gratitude she'd best avert her eyes, lest the gratitude flowing out of Elizabeth's body language cause a blood vessel to burst.

"You mean... I can stay??"

Her tone spoke of hope and disbelief. People had helped her, sure, but nobody had ever offered.to give her a place to stay.

Naren saw elation, gratitude, and hope melding together, creating a color akin to sunlight. it hurt her eyes a little but she ignored the pain. She nodded silently, looking almost confused. "Of course. Bad manners if I didn't letcha. Long as yer okay with it, I can set up a room for ya in a minute."

Bella snorted at Elizabeth. Stupid human. Her trainer was a nice idiot. Why wouldn't she do that?

Mind you, Elizabeth was not a perfect example of a lady. Briefly forgetting to respect Naren's personal space in her excitement she stepped forward and abruptly embraced her. This time it was less because she needed comfort and more because she was just being affectionate. A good hug was pretty much the best way Elizabeth knew how to be nice to someone. She was light enough and weak enough that she would be hard pressed to bump into Naren hard or squeeze her uncomfortably with her excited hug.

"Thank you..!"

Naren used one arm to return the hug and the other to pat Elizabeth's head. "No problem. 's what friends are for." she didn't feel too bothered. She had said the girl could hug her anytime she wanted. She wouldn't go back on that promise or any she made. Papa would be sad if she did. The girl paused a moment, thinking.

Then Elisha squealed and jumped on Elizabeth's head. She wanted to be part of the hug too!

Elizabeth was patted on the head. She seemed to appreciate that. She was however drawn out of her stupor by the feeling of something that definitely /wasn't/ a hand hopping onto her head. She made a silly attempt to glance up, only to remember she couldn't look at the top of her head without a mirror or something like that and stop. Was that Elisha? Size seemed about right anyway. What else would it be? ...Definitely not a giant spider! Or a bat! Nope! She got the feeling Elisha liked her, not that she was complaining. Friendly pokemon were nice.

"quill!" Elisha cried, comfirming Elizabeth's thoughts. She normally wasn't good with anyone other than Naren. Elizabeth seemed okay though so she wouldn't worry. Naren giggled and releases herself from the hug to take her Pokemon back. Elisha squealed delightedly, sniffing her all over and burrowing her head in the crook of the girl's neck.

Naren glanced up at her friend. "Would ya like to see yer bed?"

Elizabeth watched how Elisha acted, somewhat intrigued. This was the sort of thing she could /observe/ easily. Of course, Naren then asked her a question.

"Yes, please..!"

She supposed she would like to see her bed. More like she would like to hug it. You wouldn't want to imagine where Elizabeth had had to sleep before. One things for certain. Not even the worst beds were anything but an improvement.

Naren smiled and led the girl upstairs. It was the spare bedroom, thankfully with clean sheets and a nice quilt. It was rather sparse, never really used. She had to admire her mother's taste in quilts. They were always gentle and warm, not itchy at all. Naren had hope once that she could make a quilt for her but when she did manage to her mother had never seen it. Ah well. "I hatched Elisha," she exp-lained, sensing the younger's confusion on her Cyndaquil. "She pro'ly thinks I'm 'er mum or sommat. She took to ya fine, which is a tad new but is good." Elisha squealed. The girl stepped back to give Elisha access to her room.
