Pokemon: Black Infection [IC]

If Naren noticed the oddness, she didn't really care. She had Apricorn Balls thanks to Maisy. Elisha was in a Friend Ball but Budew had to have been caught in a normal Pokeball. Shadow Pokemon were a pain to get with Apricorns. Sighing, she went inside and up to the counter. Nurse Joy smiled, one of those paparazzi smiles that put her on edge. She silently handed her Pokemon up to her and she took them silently. ELisha squirmed. She hated being touched by anyone but Naren. As they were healed, the woman hummed before returning the fully healed Pokemon.

"You're Monique's daughter aren't you?" she asked the girl.

Naren paled. This was not what she wanted to hear. "Um... yes ma'am?"

"I thought so," the woman told her, blue eyes glowing with delight. "YOu too have the same hairstyle. It figures such a beautiful women would teach her daughter all about fashion. But I must ask," Joy wrinkled her nose despite herself. "What is with those horrid goggles you're wearing?"

Naren flushed shyly and stepped back. Danger, get out now. "Erm, um,well, I'm sory, thank you for the healing, goodbye!" She shook her head as she left, Elisha growling. When she got back to Elizabeth, she was shaking, almost cryingl. THe girl hated any mention of her mother, especially in that way. She was not her mother and did not want to be. "Sorry," she mumbled reflexively to her friend. THis was bad, especially to have a panic attack in front of someone who was already uncomfortable.

Elizabeth just sort of stared at Naren, confused. Any suspicion that she might've understood was unfounded, as she had difficulty understanding less complex things. Why was she sad? What had happened? She didn't get it. A part of her wanted to comfort Naren, but the only form of comfort she could really do all that well was the physical kind and well... She honestly didn't think Naren would appreciate it. Not a lot of kids were really into hugging from what she remembered. It was the sort of thing she longed for, but only because she missed her parents with a terrible heartache. She hadn't been ready to leave them. Not at all.

After a moment Elizabeth decided to throw herself out there. Perhaps her new friend would understand her where she would never expect others to.

"Why are you sad..?"

Naren shuddered shakily. "I... Mama and I don;t get along well," she whispered. "That woman knows her.. she saw me to her... I'm not her...I'm not... it wasn't my fault..." SHe composed herself and gently walked over to Elizabeth. She gently placed a hand on her shoulder. SHe honestly wanted to hug Elizabeth and tell her the truth of what was going on. But she didn't think the girl would understand. She seemed like the type who loved her mom and dad with all of her heart. Naren wasn't that person. She didn't want to shatter that perfect image for her now. But she wanted to know.

ELisha squealed and nuzzled her face. "C'mon," Naren whispered. "I'll explain in the house. Please."

Elizabeth's attention seemed to become sharp when Naren placed a hand on her shoulder, her eyes widening slightly. She was somewhat surprised by the gesture. She quivered a bit and lowered her gaze. She wasn't going to go about explaining to Naren that she had lost her parents. In truth, Elizabeth's parents were dead. They were dust in the wind. She of course didn't know this. As far as she knew, she had just been taken to a strange place.

Naren whispered to her, and to Elizabeth all this translated to quite a bit of urgency.

"A-Alright..."

Naren led them back into the house, instantly relaxing, away from the staring eyes. She really wanted to get out of here now.. She turned to Elizabeth as they came inside. She sighed. "When I was little Papa took me t' the forest, so we could fix Elisha. But we were attacked... By Scyther. Papa died... I saw it. And Mama blames me for it. She wants me dead; I've seen it. But she would lose everything if she killed me. I would have died too... If the lights hadnt saved me."

Naren looked away. "Mama works in this city as a model. If she knows I'm here, I'll get in trouble again. But... Even then, I wont let her get ya. You're m' friend and I ain't letting her hurt nice people."

Elizabeth just sort of listened. She sort of got what was said. Didn't know who in the blazes 'Scyther' was but she got the general idea. She found herself unsure what to do or say, thus she found herself going silent. Though, Naren, being who she was, would be able to figure it out for herself no doubt. Elizabeth had a guilty look in her eyes. Not because she had done something wrong of course, but because she wanted to do something to comfort Naren but was at a loss as to what to do. This made her feel guilty, as she felt obligated to do something. She was also playing with her fingers anxiously. She wasn't about to tell her about her own problems. It didn't seem appropriate at the time.

The journey down route one was mostly made in silence; Celestia leading the way, Felix following, Rayne reluctantly being dragged along, occasionally baring his teeth and growling when Felix glanced back.

A Poochyena. Well, a dead one at least. It was drenched in blood and completely a mess, as if some unspeakable evil had just utterly destroyed it.

Felix sighed, placing his hands on the back of his head and turning away. "Right. We better watch our steps guys, who knows what could of done-"

"Toto!"

Before Felix knew it, the alligator Pokemon was sprinting towards the corpse.

"Rayne! Don't eat that! You… You don't know where it's been!"

Rayne looked back with eyes full of hate, snarling at the pair before taking another bite out of the carcass.

"Or… Or you can continue eating… That's cool too… I guess."

Both trainer and the Pikachu looked on in disgust as the Totodile devoured the dead Poochyena, slowly tearing the meat off of its bones. Finally, it seemed as if Celestia that had enough. She walked straight up to the Totodile, determined look on her face, tapped the Pokemon on the shoulder, and let loose an electric shock. The Totodile felt his body tense up with Paralysis and fell like a rock, hitting the ground with a resounding thud.

Felix wasn't really sure what to do until the Pikachu let out a sigh, turned away from it's fallen teammate, walked past Felix, and continued down the road, leaving Rayne and Felix behind her.
---------------------

"Feeling better, Rayne?" Felix laughed, the Totodile scoffing at his trainer. Even for him, Rayne was in a bad mood (not that he was ever in a good one). Celestia sat next to Felix, still unsure about her new trainer. Felix put a hand on her head to pet the Pikachu, only for her to shy away. Felix sighed. Only a week into his journey, and it was going south fast. Well, there was only one way to fix that.

He reached up, moving the orange sunglasses on top of his head over his eyes.

"Alright! Let's get going to Viridian and win our first badge." He cheered, grinning. Rayne and Celestia briefly looked at each other, simultaniously rolling their eyes before following their trainer.

Naren smiled at Elizabeth. "Thank ya.. Tha' there was selfish o' me." she sighed, still smiling. "'m used to it... Him bein' gone... Weren't there much, either o' 'em, an she still ain't. They ain't like yer parents I bet. I bet they were nice, good folks. And they ain't here now. That causes lots o' pain, 'specially when ya love 'em. I'd be jealous o' you fer havin tha', but why? Won' change wha is or was. Live with what ya are."

Elisha squeaked and ran to sniff Elizabeth's hand, cooing softly. "ya ain't alone anymore," naren said happily. " Tha makes it a bit better."

Elizabeth just sort of didn't react. She didn't see what Naren had apparently done wrong. Perhaps it had been an error in the translation. In truth, she actually just had different morals. Then Naren brought up /her/ parents. Elizabeth was taken off guard. She felt herself becoming emotional over the involuntary reminiscing that was occurring and averted her eyes, looking down again. A lump in her throat was preventing her from speaking. She felt tears coming on, but resisted them. Crying was something she did when she wanted attention, and she had made a habit out of not wanting attention since she came here. She wasn't ready to get over not having parents. She didn't really react to the rest of what Naren had said. Partially because she had difficulty understanding.

Naren saw misery, a blue that was almost black. She decided to follow her impulses for once and hugged the smaller girl. "Let it out," she mumbled. "Is all right to cry, it's always all right, especially when it hurts. Whether they're gone or ya just can't find them, bein' away hurts. Is supposed t'. Don't feel bad for cryin' on me. I did on you. And I can tell ya wanna."

"Cynda!" Elisha agreed, somehow climbing up Naren's body and sniffing at Elixabeth's face, nudging at her eyes. "Quill..."

Elizabeth was hugged. She was once again taken off guard, this time by the embrace, and squirmed lightly. Perhaps back home she would've been less receptive to this sort of thing, but seeing as she had come to miss what she had used to consider perhaps somewhat embarassing, she found herself enjoying it. After a moment she would lightly return the embrace, burying her face against Naren. She would cry, but relatively quietly, and only for a short time. The hug had distracted her from her thoughts, doing a large part in helping her calm down relatively quickly over the course of just under a minute. After that, she was relatively calm, though the incident had left her with a bit of a case of the quivers. She mentally noted though that this was nice.

She did however flinch a bit at Elisha's touch. It was a reflexive reaction. Her eyes had been closed, so she had been briefly startled. She opened her eyes after a moment and looked at the Cyndaquil.

Meanwhile, if Cubone had not still been in her pokeball after having been healed, she would probably have had something to say about this.

Elisha smiled. "Cyndaquil!" Naren chuckled gently at her Pokemon's antics ELisha sniffed at Elizabeth's face again.

Naren glanced at her new friend. "Are ya feelin. a bit better now?" She released her to take a look. She sighed softly as Elisha moved to rest on her head. "Yer heavy," she joked.

"Quil!" Elisha protested.

Elizabeth just sort of looked at Elisha, rather curiously, while her face was being sniffed. She couldn't help but wonder what that was all about. She seemed slightly reluctant to let go, but said nothing of this. Instead she nodded her head yes and stuffed her hands in her coat pockets, smiling very lightly. One could tell she had been crying, but she was feeling somewhat better. Sure, she still had plenty of problems to deal with, but being a human being she found it easier to cope now that she had someone there for her, so to speak.

Elisha snuffled at her as Naren laughed at her Pokemon. "Tha's her way of being friendly," she explained, smiling kindly. "By t way," she flushed. "Yer allowed t' ask for hugs." she stretched. "Anyway, would ya like a bath? I can show ya one."

Elisha squealed and ran. She hated baths. "Not you, stinky!" Naren called.

Nique was happily jumping around, stomping on the tall grass.

"Come out, ya sneaky bastards!" she happily cheered.

"Ah, Nick, I wouldn't do that! It may hurt the Pokémon hiding in it!" Komoko yelled from a bit away. The girl moaned a bit in concern for the critters. She understood Nique wanted another Pokémon, but stomping on it wasn't going to start the relationship on the right foot!

Nique stopped and breathed in heavily. The forest air was amazing! So crisp and clean!

"Nick?" Komoko said sheepishly. "Maybe we should head back to Viridian. It's getting pretty late."

"P'shaw, it's not late. We have plenty of time to get to Pewter before nighttime!"

Komoko groaned in angst. Was something going to happen to them?! Was something going to attack them? Nique looked over at the girl. Wow, was Komoko frightened.

"Komoko," Nique shouted. "Just sent out Taupe; you should be fine if something attacks you."

"Um.... alright," Komoko said as she sent out her Sneasel.

"Snea." Taupe said, sounding firm and a tad bit annoyed. The getting-to-know-you-session they had earlier today didn't go that well, but they had made progress.

"Okay, Taupe, let's play a game to get acquainted. Let's play.... never have I ever!" Komoko shouted, trying to be enthusiastic.

"Snea...." Taupe groaned, unwilling to the idea.

"Okay, never have I ever.... eaten sushi!" Komoko said. She was replied with awkward silence before she spoke again. "How about you, Taupe?"

"Sneasel snea."

Somehow she just knew that contained profanity.

....Alright, no progress. But they were somewhat used to being together now, so that was good for journeying into the forest!

"Caterpie!" a small voice cried in pain. Nique lifted up her foot to find she left a nice black bruise on a baby Caterpie. Tears dripped down its face as it cried shrilly and loudly. It was so cute!

"Finally! Hi there, cutie!" Nique said, bending down. The Caterpie quickly fled towards a group of trees. "Hey!" Nique screamed after it, standing up. Nique quickly dashed over to Komoko and threw the egg into her arms, slightly surprising the girl.

"Take care of it while I'm gone, okay?" Nique said in her rush as she turned around and made a mad dash towards where the Caterpie had ran.

"Nick!" Komoko cried to her.

"You can make it out of the forest alone, can't ya? Meet you in Pewter!" Nique shouted back, voice slowly fading away into the distance.

Sigh. This guy always was on the go- this was, like, the third time she's been left in the dust? Notheless, it looks like it was her and Taupe again. Komoko looked down at her Sneasel.

"So, have you ever eaten sushi?" she asked calmly, sounding a bit frustrated at Nique.

Taupe closed his eyes and shook his head while he crossed his arms. Well, hey, she at least got an answer! The start of a potential friendship was there!

....Somewhere.

----

Nique glimpsed the running green mass disappearing into a hole located on a tree. Quietly, she went over, making sure she didn't crush any leaves, and leaned on the tree, placing her ear to it. Being caught completely off guard, Nique jumped off the tree as it.... bent? What a flimsy tree! She went in to try again, making sure she put very light pressure on the tree as to not topple it.

Unintentionally, that is.

Then, as she always does, Nique started to hear voices.

"Mommy! Daddy! A human hur-rt me! Waahh!" The Catepie sobbed.

"Oh, sweetie! Where were you?!" said a motherly voice, obviously the- well, mother of the Caterpie.

"I wah-was in the Great Fiel-field! Waah-ha-haa!"

Tch. So freaking weak. Here was this Caterpie, balling its eyes out to a bruise, yet Ukele didn't shed one tear as her entire family was slaughtered in front of her eyes! Sure, she was mentally scarred for the rest of her life, but she didn't cry! She even was going to battle Nique for the youngest's life at the end!

"Now Jeremy, you know not to go into the Great Field. Tons of humans walk by there." Said a condescending male voice, presumably the father.

"Buh-but Dieter the Weedle sah-said he went there plenty of times without being hurt. He even battled with sa-some trainers!"

"Well Dieter has poison in his body that protects him. You don't. You don't get stronger until you're a Butterfree like you father and me, sweetie."

"I-I'm sorry I disobeyed you."

"That's okay, son. Now let's take care of that bruise." The father said.

Lovely family.

Nique pushed the tree with all her might, sending it toppling. As it finally crashed onto the ground, a loud, deathly scream came from it.

"I- Is everyone alright?" the dad said, sounding perfectly fine.

"Mommy?! Where's Mommy?!" the child said, also unharmed.

The duo stepped out of the tree, looking around for the cause of the fall. They were met with a human, grinning subtly.

"Hi!" Nique happily greeted.

"Did you do this?!" The father said, angry.

"Yep." Nique replied.

"....You can understand what I'm saying?" the father said, not expecting his obvious question to be answered.

"Yep to that, too! I have a special power to understand, read the thoughts of and personality of Pokemon, and humans too, but with less potency."

"Where's Mommy?!" the Caterpie asked, sounding desperate.

"Hold on, let me check." Nique said, raising a finger. She focused all her energy to the surrounding area to find if she could read the thoughts of the mother.

....Nothing. Even when you're fainted or knocked out, you always think something. The mother was no longer with them.

"She seems to be dead. Probably got crushed or stabbed by something when the tree toppled."

"Liar! Filthy human!" the father yelled, rising into the air to prepare for battle.

"Now honey, I'm a bit unorthodox, but I'm not a liar."

The Butterfree started slashing the air with its wings and creating yellow dust. Awesome! This is a perfect battle opportunity for Mailko or Ukele!

Or better yet, both!

Elizabeth didn't quite understand how sniffing someone was friendly, but perhaps it was a pokemon thing. She wasn't really an expert. Of course, then Naren mentioned something about being allowed to ask for hugs. Well that seemed clear enough. She supposed she would ask... sooner or later. More pressing thoughts dominated her mind now though, like a bath. Hoo boy.

"...Pardon me, miss, but these are my only clothes..."

Elizabeth gestured down at herself. She hadn't really had the option of bringing extra clothes when she was volunteered for a permanent field trip to the future. One could only hope that Elizabeth had had something comparable to the modern bath in her time.

Naren was almost alarmed, except she knew a lot of people who didn't bring extra clothes. "Tha's all right," she told Elizabeth. "I can clean these for ya and I have come spare clothes in m' bag. We can get ya some new ones later, if ya wanna. An' ya don' gotta worry about payin me back; I don' mind."

Elisha poked her head out, realizing it wasnt her bathtime. But she was being ignored now. No Naren! She ran to the girl's leg and whined. Naren sighed. I'll clean you too, just let me help her." Cyndaquil nodded.

Scott looked at the ball with the Shadow Trainquill Celes was laying happily on his lap. He had bandaged her cuts and was no petting her with his free hand. He had no idea what had happened after the Tranquill knocked him out. But he had woken up to Cadas, Caelara, and Celes fighting the bird and working together. His head still hurt, but he was glad that they had managed to work things out. Caelara was laying in her basket, also bandaged up. And Cadas was currently on Scott's head. Scott pulled out his phone and dialed Elm's cell phone. It rang a few times, and then he answered it.

"Elm speaking," Elm said. Scott grinned at the greeting he got.
"Hey Elm, it's Scott. Listen, I know my father used to purify Shadow pokemon. But, he never told me how. And Falkner gave me this thing called a Purification Stone," Scott said. Elm sighed.
"Well Scott, you have to use the Purification Stone on the Shadow Pokemon. But before you do that, you must get it to open it's heart to you. Once it does that, then it will be ready to be purified," Elm said. Scott frowned. How was he supposed to get the pokemon to open it's heart to him? The Tranquill was in a rage! It would only try to kill him.
"Thanks Elm, I'll get to work on it right away," Scott said. He hung up the phone. He sighed. Now what to do... He called out Tranquill.

Shadow Tranquill

Shadow Tranquill looked around. All he felt... Was rage. There... That was the one! He focused in on that pokemon. The small blue one. That one was like him. Or, she used to be. His anger grew and he charged up his Shadow energy. He took off at her.

Scott

Scott was very surprised when Tranquill used Shadow Blits on Caelara, knocking her into the air and flipping her basket over. Caelara yowled in pain when she landed.
"Shinx!" Caelara shouted angrily at the bird before blasting it with a Shock Wave. Scott returned the Tranquill. This wasn't going to work! He needed to have someone a little bit better with birds help him with this! Like Falkner... Yeah, Falkner would be able to help. He'd go and see him in the morning. Scott righted Caelara's basket. She climbed into it. She settled down in it and glared around, looking protective of her little bed. Scott ignored her and leaned his head back. Man, what a mess.

Elizabeth hesitated a bit. New clothes? Like, clothes from /here/? She seemed mildly uncomfortable with the idea. People tended to dress really /weird/ here. Clothes were not only gender ambiguous to her but they simply had a different style. She also could not tell why, but they /felt/ different. This was of course because of the advent of synthetic fibers, which were in most clothing in some way or another in this day and age. Or at least, to her they did. Regardless, she would not insult Naren by bringing that up now. She simply nodded her head after a moment and looked around, obviously needing help finding her way.

Naren senses her discomfort and said nothing. She gestured to her friend to follow and led her to a small, clean, undecorated bathroom. "our water's weird. Cold's the left knob, water's the right. The soap ya want is that bar on the pad over there." she pointed at the orange soap. "towel's in that cabinet." Naren paused and pulled out a white shirt and black pants. The shirt was more of a nightshirt, reaching Naren's knees easily. It would probably be longer on her friend.

"I'll wash yer clothes while yer in here," Naren said."if ya'd like. Then you can wear em later. These okay for when ya get out?"
