Pokemon: Black Infection [IC]

Elizabeth simply nodded in response to Naren. She could work with this. She wasn't afraid of answering honestly, just of advocating for herself. She kind of wondered what having a friend that actually understood her would be like. It couldn't be bad though, could it? She subconsciously assumed and trusted that friends could not possibly be /that/ different from her time, though this was not necessarily true.

Abruptly she remembered her food and glanced down at her plate, but refrained from eating. It wouldn't be polite.

Naren

Naren smiled at this and nodded, moving her hand back to her fork. She brushed at the food, suddenly feeling hungry herself. "'Elp yourself. Y' look half-starved, pardon m' sayin' so." As if to prove it was okay, she took a bite and nodded. "Thank Celebi. I didn't over cook it."

Elisha nudged at Budew, who awoke and glared, recgnizing her old enemy. Elisha puffed out smoke, causing the plant to yelp. Elisha sighed and squealed. Was it a trait of Shadow Pokemon to be so quirky? Se leapt onto Budew, engaging in a light fight. Of course, because Budew was wilder than usual, it attacked much more ferociously. Naren put her food down and quickly separated them. "C-mon you two, ya'll are stuck together! Stop it." The two complied reluctantly and Budew glared a little. This human was a coward. Why was she with her?

Naren gave Elizabeth a sheepish smile. "Ya takin a journey too?"

Tyler

Tyler watched his Butterfree soar over his head, over the opponent, her wings sparkling in the fading sunlight. Sila was a powerful creature, for a bug. Tyler liked Bug-types well enough and Butterfree was underestimated. After this Gym he would go hunt one more Pokemon. But for now...

"Dion, down." The Pikachu obeyed him, pausing from his assault on his opponent.

"It's still alive Master." His partner couldn't help the protest.

"Humans are stubborn that way," he told the Pikachu, walking toward the formerly disguised man with an emotionless light in his green eyes. There were already quite a few burn marks on this human's body, thanks to Dion's power. He looked down at the man, examining the Rocket grunt with distaste. "Fool," he said simply, reaching out toward the man. The other trainers were gone, their usual game long over. Only the fool had stayed.

His loss.

Tyler sighed dully and reached out. "Sir, I must ask you a very important question. As a child, I enjoy tag. And there is no one else here. So..." he pulled the man to his feet. "I must ask: Will you play tag with me?"

The man snorted, adult bravado back in style. "I will not play with a brat like you."

Tyler nodded. "I see. You won't either. Too bad." He pulled out a knife and sighed as he flicked out the blade. His voice and eyes never changed, unaffected by the sudden spark of fear in the man's eyes. "I guess that means it's study time then. Today's lesson... ah, human anatomy, the muscle connections."

He locked eyes with the fool. "My teacher always tells me I am a hands-on sort of person so I need to learn through experience. So sir," he began quietly, walking over to him. "I need a subject to look at. Will you do that for me?" Tyler didn't wait for an answer, shaking his head. "Never mind, you won't. I guess you're useless then. Time to go." The man breathed a sigh of relief as Tyler turned away. "You shouldn't be so happy," Tyler informed him. "My Pokemon used Poison Powder and you breathed it in. You have about five minutes left until you expire." Silan landed on his head, knowing his human hadn't been poisoned.

"Goodbye stupid human," Tyler commented. "Is this the weakness of Team Rocket?" He walked down the bridge. He had a Gym to get to.

Elizabeth looked back down at her food and resumed eating it. She /was/ half starved, of course. She simply wasn't good enough of a battler to eat well off winnings alone. She did look back up to observe a fight between Elisha and a Budew. She had no idea what Budew was. Her knowledge of pokemon was basic, and even then was limited to before the dawn of a pokedex or anything of that sort. She didn't let it bother her though. She had never known pokemon all that well until she came here. Hadn't even caught her first pokemon before the incident.

Despite how rare a meal like this was for her to come across she was eating with plenty of civility. It was another one of those habits that just seemed to give her some comfort.

Cubone was watching Elisha and the budew fight. She was not a playful pokemon. She couldn't afford to play fight like that, mostly because she'd practically have to play dead to make herself safe to play with. That wasn't to say she didn't feel the urge. She felt half tempted to join in, yet resisted the urge.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth heard Naren ask her about a journey. Journey? Oh that was right! She stopped eating again to talk.

Elizabeth: "Yeah..! I am going to go find Red."

She spoke with more confidence in her voice this time, though she didn't seem to realize how difficult the task was. She said it with a casualness you might use if you were going over to see your neighbor, or something else of the sort. Given, she really didn't have a good idea how hard it would be. How would she?

Caelara

Caelara was happy. She had seen her human grab her little home and bring it with him. He had no idea how much that pleased her. She shot a triumphant smirk at Celes, who smiled back at her. Why was she smiling? Was she finally admitting that she was not the alpha of this odd little pride?
"What are you grinning at Priss?" Caelara said with a smirk.
"You. You look so happy right now!" Celes said, still smiling. Scratch that idea. Maybe, maybe she was just genuinely happy for her? That was all well and good, but she would still have to admit she was not the alpha someday. But not today. Today, they would rest and relax.

Scott

Scott walked back to town. His pokemon all seemed really happy, except for Cadas, who was asleep. Scott had decided to turn the bird over to Falkner. As a flying type specialist, he would know what to do with it. He soon reached the gates of Violet City, only to find them locked.
"Locked!? Well, I guess we can wing it for tonight," Scott muttered. He walked back to the tree line and set up a small camp. He set his pokemon down and leaned back against the tree. Celes walked over to Caelara.
"Vee?" she asked. Caelara looked her over wearily and sat down.
"Sninx!" she said finally. Celes sat down next to her. Great! They seemed to be getting along now! It's about time!

(thanks for helping Dante While I was offline. ^^. please edit a bit for run on sentences and repost in the ooc thread. There's a working link on the first page.)

Naren smiled lightly. "So am I, but ya gotta get the eight Badges to be allowed anywhere near the guy." she held out her Hive Badge. "Like these. Ya earn em by battling and beatin the leaders in some towns. Is kinda hard but I think everybody has a chance." She gently lifted Budew on her lap. The Shadow Pokemon squirmed and seemed to bit, before calming down. Elisha huffed, looking jealous.

Naren seemed very calm outwardly but inwardly, her mind was whirling. Friendshipvwas what happened in dreams, like winning Gym battles or leaving home. She hoped this wasn't a dream but she couldn't know for sure. the thought terrified her.

Elizabeth looked down, a bit frustrated. Badges? She didn't know she needed badges, and she needed eight? How was she supposed to do that? The name of these leaders implied their strength. She suddenly found herself doubting her ability to do this. I mean, she had trouble beating everyday people on the streets. How was she supposed to up and go beat some leader? She glanced briefly at Cubone, who seemed to be idly staring at Elisha. She wanted to believe she could do whatever it took, but...

She couldn't help but find herself questioning whether she believed Naren. After all, why were the leaders the best if everyone had a chance to beat them?

Confusion and frustration were mixed with doubt. Naren frowned. "Th Leaders use teams that are right for yer level to be able to beat. And... Ya need to grow stronger as ya go along. Red's at a scary place, Mt Silver. But..." She suddenly added strongly, surprising herself. "That don' mean ya should give up an' turn back. Runnin away won't change tha' it's scary or hard. It still is; only ya gotta just face it later. Believin' ya can't and turnin' back's worse than tryin' and failin'. At least then ya showed sommat." Naren could not believe she was saying this, yet it felt right so she couldn't just take it back.

Elisha stared at Cubone. "Is something wrong?"

Elizabeth racked her brain for an answer to this problem. Where did she start? What did she do? How would she go about doing it? Nobody had ever told her how to be a trainer, how to do well. These were things she was trying to figure out on her own. But wait! She had a new friend that might know these things better. What question to ask..?

"Perhaps... do you know where they are?"

She tilted her head in confusion. One might ask themself how she could /not/ know where any of the gym leaders were. There was a gym in practically every town and, with the exception of the Goldenrod Gym, they could practically be spotted just by taking a look around the town! Regardless, her question seemed genuine. Apparently she didn't know.

Naren nodded, nonplussed. "There's one here and most of em are in th' major cities. Ya gotta travel to get to the rest. There's one in m' hometown."

Cyndaquil grinned. "And I beat the leader!" she didnt care that the humans had no clue what she was saying. She had bragging rights!

"Yah can't miss 'em sometimes," Naren mumbled. "They look all unusual." Budew snorted as she climbed back on Naren's chair arm.

Elizabeth seemed to think about this for a moment. How was she supposed to travel to all the cities? She had almost no money, no idea where she was going, and worse yet, she didn't consider herself all that great a battler.

It seemed to be implied that here was an order she was supposed to do these gyms in. How confusing. Yet... These shadow pokemon were kind of dangerous and scary. She didn't like them. And this 'Cipher' was trying to take over with them, right? They were obviously evil, like the boogyman, only not living in people's closets. Maybe they did live in a closet though, or under a bed. Who was she to say? Elizabeth was of course aware of how ridiculous the notion was. She was simply amusing herself with silly thoughts. Of course, reality came back to her after a moment.

"...Perhaps... would you where do I should start? I am... not from here."

Naren blinked. Hmm how to answer this..."Well, there's a Gym here... And I was gonna go train before I went there in a little while? We could train together, if ya wanna. Then we'll both be ready." Budew growled. As if she would work with these guys. It was a miracle she would work with this human. Elisha released small puffs again.

"S up to you," Naren added gently. She gently put her plate down on the table, pocketing her badge.

Elizabeth seemed to notice Budweiser for the first time. Something was weird about that pokemon. Yet, like pretty much everyone else on the planet, she wasn't capable of seeing the dark aura surrounding shadow pokemon. Thus she was unable to come to the conclusion just yet. She allowed it to slip from her mind.

Training? How much training would she need? She hoped it wouldn't be /too/ much.

"Well... alright. Are we going to face the leader together..?"

She seemed kind of hopeful. Then it occurred to her. Her pokemon needed healing. Meowth had fainted and Cubone had bruises all over her belly. Neither were in all that great condition for training.

"My pokemon might need some healing, though..."

"Healin's easy," Naren stated softly nudging Budew. "Behave, mmkay Bella? Ya'll are hurt too." Budew huffed and said nothing. "There's a Center nearby. As fer th' Gym," Naren shrugged solemnly. "I dunno. Each one does it different. Makes it interestin, and scary sometimes. The Gym Leader here's a blind girl. HEr Gym's probably dark too." Elisha made a cry of distress. She hated the dark, had since she was a baby.

"Trainin's gonna be careful," the girl commented after a few minutes of quiet. "We don' wanna overdo it and really have our Pokemon get hurt."

Elizabeth just sort of didn't seem to be affected by this at all. Or perhaps she didn't understand. She simply nodded and leaned over to pick Cubone up. Cubone reacted with indignance and crossed her arms as she was set on Elizabeth's lap and hugged to her. What the heck was that all about? She wasn't a rang teddy bear! She seemed to accept it after a moment, though.

"Alright..."

It might seem that she was ready to go. Huh.

"Mmkay then," Naren hummed, returning Bella and Elisha with a quiet smile. She didn't like doing this, keeping them in Pokeballs. She knew it was necessary so she obeyed her mind and stood up. She held open the front door of the house and stood by it. "After you," she stated, locking the door behind them as they left.

Elisha pouted from inside the Pokeball. These things made her claustrophobic. She forced ehr self out and squealed at Naren imploringly. "Ah, fine, ya silly one, you stay out then."

Elizabeth set her plate down and went to join Naren at the door before stepping outside. She looked around, immediately lost, before turning back to Naren, her expression pretty much implying that she should lead. Cubone had followed her out the door, and was looking up at her curiously. She was starting to get the feeling her trainer was a bit incompetent. Had she been wrong to allow herself to be captured? She became frustrated by.Tue notion and passed it from her mind. Time would tell. She glanced at Elisha, baffled that the pokemon refused to stay.in it's pokeball. She couldn't help but silently wonder why. To her, that suggested she didn't like her trainer, which was alarming, to say the least.

Elisha stared at Cubone a moment before shrugging and running off, leading the way to the Center. Naren laughed merrily, following her but keeping at a pace Elizabeth could follow. Then she ran up and scooped up her Cyndaquil, who squealed and yelped, squirming playfully before leaping down again, this time going at a slower pace, but still sniffing around excitedly. Naren stopped at the Center doors and waved Elizabeth inside.

"Ya'll all right," she called worriedly to her new friend, seeing the confused, uncertain turmoil that boiled through her body.

Elizabeth would only walk as fast as she had to. Energy was too precious a thing to waste in her mind. When they reached the center Elizabeth slowed and swallowed a lump in her throat. She wasn't all that fond of going inside public buildings. There was bound to e technology, and people asking questions. She didn't like the questions. Regardless, she returned Cubone and headed on inside. Naren might notice that Elizabeth's pokeballs were unique, to say the least. Elizabeth had no choice but to go in. Walking up to the counter, Nurse Joy peered down at her, a bit suspicious. It was hard not to be, when a child wearing fashion that old walked in looking rather scruffy. She deigned to assume it was on purpose, though. Elizabeth handed the nurse her pokeballs. Not long after, she got them back and left in a slight hurry. She was anxious to get out of there.
