I think that is because there is something wrong with your patch or your rom, you may need to download the patch again to make sure the patch is okay and use Fire Red 1.0 as the rom base.

I have discovered a glitch which may make it impossible to challenge the Elite Four again after you beat them once, I have fixed this in this new patch, the old link still works:

Did you insert any GameShark or Action Replay codes? It only triggers when you put one in.

I did not, but I've figured it out. You can't grind to evolve your starter before battling your rival for the first time. Example, chimchar can only be up to Lv.13 for things to go smoothly. If you evolve it to Monferno, he will say you've cheated. Not sure if the same thing happens with other starters.

The sound type should be the same as the original ??? type. And Pichu's stats were boosted since it can't evolve, it's the only pokemon which has the changed stats. I'm not going to add the new features since I wish to keep the old feeling of the hack.
