Pokemon Game Recommendations?

    Hey, guys! I'm pretty new here (well...very new. This is my first post). I've played a fair amount of Pokemon games in my day (including spin-offs) and I still play some every once in a while. I just don't own them. I basically only own stuff up to gen 2 (gold/silver) right now. I've been looking to get back into the series now but I'm not sure where to start. Which games are the best? Should I just go for gen 3 or should I try out something newer? Thanks :D
     
    If you want the full experience, I say get out there and buy/obtain all the main series games, and just 1 game from each pair. They're all must haves in my opinion.

    As for what is 'the best', it's entirely subjective and arguing about it will get you nowhere. I suggest research a bit on some of the features of each generation/game and choose which ones you like. It might be best to work your way up from old to new, but again, its your experience.
     
    I don't know, I'd suggest X and Y because they're the most up to date games, and Pokémon never really changed a lot.
     
    If you would like to get back into Pokémon series and have finished up to generation two, I would recommend going with Hoenn games first and foremost, which are RSE and ORAS. If it were me, I'd likely buy myself latter; while they might not precisely be the same as original games, its graphics are much, much more current-day, if you will, and also has advanced music and sound. Trust me, I'm sure you'll enjoy! Once we are done with this, we are off to Sinnoh, and for that, I believe Platinum version would be a good path to take. After this, are BW, BW2, and XY. At least this is how our timeline goes, anyway (if I'm not mistaken).
     
    If you've missed out on the games prior to Gen VI, they're still worth checking out. But they might be hard to find nowadays, except in used game stores or on eBay. However, they do all have their own separate adventures to enjoy for something in their own right, so it's best that you choose whichever one(s) might particularly interest you.

    4th gen is out of print. Boxed copies are significantly more expensive than new games.
     
    Start with White then White 2 for a fresh Pokemon experience.
