i think the game would look really good with that tileset.
and when you say you'll give me my assignment, is that the route? lol.
also, do you want me to keep all the warps in it?
or just only have the down connection?

the problem you've got there is you have patched over a patch.
don't worry, i have odne it plenty times :P
you'll need amap1.92 for this next part
what you have to do is in the original hack, go file > map > save map as
that saves the map file, then you can open that into the other rom which has the patched tilesets.
simple enough to understand?

ok. now open the ROM which is the pokemon police.
open any map that it has, say vector town for example
then, go file>map>save map as
then, go into the ROM which has the new tileset
then go file>map>open

does that explain it enough?

i am also going to show you what a cave should look like...but it isn't quite finished.
think of it as some tutoring...which can help for when it comes to the mapping in the actual hack :D

EDIT: here's the cave, for you all to marvel at.
NOTE! it's not finished yet, it's still very space-ey. i haven't got around to adding water and such yet.

pokemon police wise, im still not sure what to do about the route.
i don't want to start on it and then find out that there need to be more warps/connections and it needs to be redone o_O

the only problem i have with this is it's too nintendo-ish
when you have mountains bordering the map, don't make them end at the edge of the map. make them get cut off, to really simulate the mountain effect.
in the top right you've got three different mountains, why can't they all be one?
that podium thing with the stairs is pointless, unless it's a well, like in G/S/C.
there's no point having those trees up the top in the middle if it's a mountain surrounding the map.
but the one thing i do love is the grass placement. it's really really natural. there's not too much but it still forces the player to walk through a decent amount...but i would suggest making it just a little bit more random.
the small lake is good, but it needs to be flat water if it's that small.
the house placement is good, but instead of having all that fencing surrounding the mountain, why dont you have 1 piece of horizontal fence coming from the house? and you're also letting them go too far down, because then they get too see the borderblock and it really screws up.

that enough to work on?

well, based on those things, why don't you re do the map completely?
and wat i meant was get rid of the L shape

well, good job with merging the bottom level mountains, but what about the top level ones?
and when i said the L shape, the house at the bottom! it has an L of fence when it only needs 2 pieces! but it's too far down into the map..
it's definately better though! :D

G.K.S., let me know whether you are going to use the tileset or not...
and i'm also not too sure on the connections, exit warps and stuff.
basically meaning, if i start this route and it gets finished but it turns out it needs one of those builings to exit from then that whole portion of the map would need to be remade. so can you confirm what you want?
 
gay. whenever I changed the map around and wanna save it, it goes back to the way it started
 
The tileset works when I patch it to a blank rom, but there are errors with it when i patch it to mine. I tried saving tileset on a new patched rom and loading it in mine and that causes too many errors. Plus, I don't like the grass in the tileset much, I think I will fix up my own or later add trees from Cheesepeow's stuff. I'm going to look away from tiles for a while (the stuff I have now in my hack is hours and hours of work). It may not look like much, I know. Plus, I want it to look original, in my mind now, almost every newbie hacker has those tiles cause they did not work to get it than just download it and apply the patch.

follow these steps to save the map sucessfully:
1.)Put the new map and the event file that comes with the map when you originally save the map file) in a file called maps that comes with Advance Map.
2.)Load the rom and go to where to new map is(it will be in the maps section not the header).
3.)go to file--map--insert map
4.)now choose which map you would like to replace and put in the bank number and the map number of what you would like to replace.

Sirwillis the cave looks great, is it for you hack? Anyway how long did it take you to do it? You know the patch, I don't think it worked as far as I looked into it.

If you are done with it, please sent it to me as a map file (along with the event file that come with the map file when you save it) and not a patch.
Stevey, the route is great, but there is an error one the wooden fence, i will fix it though.

Progress:
A lot of mapping have been done, but they are scattered throughout the rom. For example twin town is cealdon city, the three floor of your mansion is like used to be caves on one of the sevii islands. Route 1 for the hack is actually route 3 in the game, your old house is the jail house, the trainer fan club is the new police station, the old Oak lab is changed in to a crime scene. The title screen still needs a name on it, but the POkemon is already on it, the tiles are almost done, but with errors, I'm currently working on a new movement script, only one is in use at the moment, D/P Pokemon inserting is going well, but now at a stop. I added all the names and evolution, but some stats got mixed up. The type and (i think) the gender ration has been added too. The story line is all planned out but the future is not very depth. I wll be working on trainer battles shortly.

Fine, I will do that, I really could not decide if I wanted to do that, since I always save scripts, I will be okay.

I thought you guys would mind working on Saturday, I will start a fresh one, save all the maps, and load it to the new one and upload the new one on the email account.

After I upload the new rom (or you could just do it one the old rom, it would not matter since it will even work if you make changes on a blank map, i could still load it on a different rom) I will tell you your assignments.

Why am I putting this of? The story has to revolve the whole mapping and I would end up making many changes at the end. Why don't Sirwillis, you make a route out of route 7 which will lead to a cave and I will use the cave you made earlier as part of it. Stevey, can you change the second floor of the original firered's house (main character's) into a lab for a professor.

Go to the website for the new rom, I have put assignments for both of you guys, please don't sent the stuff back as a patch, but as a map (along with the event file that comes with it). Sent this and the route and cave you guys worked on in the email account please (again with the event file).

There is no due date, take you time, hacking is supposed to be fun, not work.:)

I still have many maps to load to the new rom.

Could you guys comment on the hackshowcase thread right after I update it (probably on Monday), I don't want it to be forgotten, it's in the back of the list now.
