I have another small update.
I have already begun to work music composition. Starting releases after version 1.3, the game will use MIDI for all in-game music and most sound effects. The new music will consist of orchestrated versions of the classic tunes. Also, there will be a lot of tracks from other games (Pokémon or not) for special events, sidequests, and such. Every legendary Pokémon will have a unique theme song, as will every major rival, most towns and routes, and more!
Once I get done a lot of tunes, I'll release collections to the public in both MIDI and audio form and anyone will be able to use the tunes in his/her game. The MIDI version will be suitable for game development because it will be designed to be able to loop infinite times. The audio version will be recorded using Garritan Instruments and will be downloadable as OGG Vorbis files. I chose OGG because MP3's quality is abysmal (even at high bitrates), lossless formats are too big, and OGG is the best quality lossy format out there.
Here's a sampler. Keep in mind that these tunes are taken from vgmusic and have not been thoroughly edited yet. It should give you an idea of how the music will be styled.
Pokémon Hall of Fame: Soundtrack
[01-01] Title, I
[01-02] Title, II
[01-03] Title, III [Pikachu Intro]
[01-04] Welcome to the World of Pokémon!
[01-05] Pallet Town
[01-06] Follow Me
[01-07] Professor Oak's Lab
[01-08] Rival Encounter
[01-09] Special Battle
[01-10] Gary's Theme
[01-11] Ritchie's Theme
[01-12] Prof. Oak's Theme
[01-13] Deliah Ketchum's Theme
[01-14]
etc.
Each disc will have 20 tracks and will feature custom album art.
