"I'm heading for the Battle Hall!" Amy exclaimed as she returned Squirtle in her pokeball.

Seeing that two other trainers were going, she'd better not disturb them because she was also somewhat not so sure of their pokemon. Amy quickly ran off to do something else.

"Man, things are nothing compared to the good days!" Amy said in depress, as she ran off to find Alana and Cebrina. She assumed that Chris and Sheba were her rivals for this year.

OOC: Erm, Zerro, what the heck is a Chronrup? If you're going with some kind of strange pretend pok?mon then at least describe it. -_-

IC:

"Or join..." Felix suggested, his voice once again taking on a slightly distant tone while Skie kept darting around him, still excited about the prospect of food "If we find a suitable opponent that is, I'm sure Skie is just as good in battle as any of those others." he took a thoughtful pause "But first things first. Let's go outside for a while."

The boy took point, and without as much as glancing at the complicated map he began wandering with his usual strange gait, humming a cheerfull tune as he did so, Skie soon joining in with her own melodic voice, and after a number of seemingly random choices in corridors they arrived at the entrance, although of course the sign said 'Exit' on this side.

"Well, here we are..." Felix stated, coming to a halt by the door and waiting for Sheba to catch up.

Sheba grinned, watching her eevee gambol after her. It had a clumsy, staggering way of walking, and seemed incapable of walking in a straight line - it kept wandering off the side, falling over, and jumping back onto her feet again. "Come on, little 'un," she cooed, and Lumi's expression grew increasingly determined, until she finally caught up with Felix and Sheba. It dropped onto it's haunches, apparently very proud of itself. Sheba bent down to pet her, grinning at Felix as she did so.
"Yeah, maybe I'll find a caterpie for Lumi to battle." Lumi didn't seem to notice the insult in Sheba's sentence; she just kept wagging her tail, looking from Felix to Sheba expectantly.
Sheba glanced at the map again; "Apparently there's a resturant and a cafe' on the highstreet... oh... look, we've got a card here." Sh had flipped over the sheet for the first time, and found a student saver card on the back, with 'pokemart' written on the bottom. "I guess this is to buy things for our pokemon...After all, we don't have anything yet. No potions, no pokeballs, nothing."

Felix grinned back "Maybe, but it's best to start small." he replied in a joking voice "Caterpies are very cunning you know." he cast an appraising glance at the student save card that Sheba showed him, taking in this new piece of information. Skie, who had returned to perching on the boy's shoulder, apparently slightly exhausted from all her flapping about, peered at the card with seemingly equal, if not greater, interest, even though it seemed fairly obvious that she didn't have a clue about what it was. The two of them looked almost comically alike, however.

"Looks good." he commented after a pause "Maybe we can even catch ourselves some more pok?mon later on. Let's take a look at the pok?mart too while we're out." he pushed the door open and stepped out. It was a sunny and fairly warm afternoon, small clouds travelling across the sky in scattered groupings and a refreshing breeze blowing in from the sea.

"Swaaa!" Skie exclaimed, her eyes widening at the sight of the seemingly endless expanse of blue and white that was the sky, "Swaaaa-bluuuuu!" the bird pok?mon set off enthusiastically into the sky at first, but then the sheer size of it all seemed to overwhelm her and she descended again, settling back down on Felix's shoulder with a tiny sigh of relief at the safety it provided her, apparently deciding to observe all of these new things from the boy's shoulder for now.

Lumi broke into a stumbling run; every now and again, she would loose her balence, and make as if to fall- only to catch herself at the very last second, and keep running, albiet looking slightly shaken.

Sheba giggled at her young pokemon's antics, before turning back to Felix.
"That'd be great. Our classes don't start 'til tomorrow, but I don't think it'll be that hard... the classes are probably just learning about those 'traits' and things."
She paused for a second. "Maybe I could battle you? Mind, don't go easy on my just 'cause I'm your friend." she said it without thinking, but a sudden flash of panic struck Sheba. What if he didn't count her as a friend? She'd look stupid...again. She cast a glance at his face.

Felix smiled at the Eevee's enthusiastic attempts at running, suddenly gaining a measure of understanding about Skie's constant flapping and darting about. She might have looked like a fairly grown pok?mon but the Swablu was still a hatchling with only a few hours of age, apparently she was born with the knowledge of flight, but the finer points were still quite beyond her.

"Yeah, first week classes don't tend to be difficult, do they?" Felix replied "I bet that they'll mostly be about the teachers introducing themselves and lecturing a lot. Boring, but easy." there was still a slightly distant look to the boy's eyes as he spoke of this, but it dissapeared abruptly as he heard Sheba's challenge, particularly the last word; 'Friend'.

Felix's grin widened into a genuinely warm smile as his mind processed this last word, his dark blue eyes seeming to glow ever so slightly "I would be glad to." he replied "This is going to be the first battle I'll ever share with Skie, and now I'll get to have it with a friend as well. Let's give it all we got, both for our pok?mon and ourselves.".

The Swablu concured with an excited squawk. She wasn't quite sure what this 'battling' was but it sounded exciting. Of course, the whimsical bird pok?mon found almost everything exciting, but that was neither here nor there.

"There's an arena too." Felix noted, pointing towards a square that had been drawn into the ground with white chalk. It was a fairly sizeable one, divided into two identical halves with a line in the middle. A semi-circle had been drawn on both sides of the line at the center of the square, forming a kind of pok?ball symbol in the middle of the arena. This spot had apparently been put there for this very reason.

Felix walked over to his side of the arena, relishing the wind for a while more before turning his full attention to something for a change. This was going to be his first real battle as a trainer and he was going to do it properly. "Ready when you are, Sheba." he said, Skie perching on his shoulder and preparing for battle as well.

She gave Felix a shocked glance, but her eevee was already leaping into position. Pokemon were born with the intinct to battle, it seemed; Lumi had no training, and she had barely explored the world yet, but she was already raring to go.

Sheba took up her position, and grinned at Felix. "Don't laugh at me, okay? I've never done this before."
Her eevee was already readying herself, poised to leap. "Eeeeeeeve!" she called. For a moment, Sheba stared. It was the first time Lumi had done anything other than squeak.
"Let's go!" Sheba shouted, the way they did on television. She felt slightly stupid, as they were in the middle of the town square and a few people were gathering to watch this rookie match.

"Don't worry." Felix replied, grinning back, vaguely aware of a small crowd gathering around them "That wouldn't be a very friendly thing to do. Alright, let's do it Skie!"

He couldn't resist pointing his finger towards the arena, and the Swablu sprang forth from his shoulder with an enthusiastic squawk, fluttering her wings and taking up a battle stance on her side of the arena.

"Right then." the boy said, attempting to remember what attacks a Swablu could learn "Skie! Peck!"

"Swaa!" the bird pok?mon cried out, zooming down towards Lumi and raining down a series of jabs from her beak onto the normal type.

Lumi cried out, and huddled on the ground, apparently unware of what to do.

Sheba was in the same paniced state. "Do something, Lumi!"

The little eevee jumped out from underneath Skie, and growled. For a moment, Sheba and Lumi just stared at Skie, waiting. Sheba began to curce under her breath, and Lumi looked unsure, wavering between growling at Skie again or rushing back to the safety of Sheba.

(ooc| soz for shortness, g2g in a min...}

Skie stopped in surprise as Lumi growled at her, a flicker of doubt crossing her face.

Felix watched the scene apprehensively, remembering his own first battle. Sure, he hadn't been brilliant or anything, but he had had his sister around to help, and her Houndoom was trained for battling, at least it seemed to know what to do when he didn't. Sheba had no such luck however, and she was the panicky type too. Felix had almost forgotten it but the girl didn't have very pressure control, and her Eevee seemed to be just as badly at loss as her trainer was.

"Relax." Felix whispered quietly, casting a nasty glare at a particularly rude crowd member who was apparently finding the whole scene amusing. Sheba had to get her act together or she would be in for a thorough humiliation. "Just keep calm and concentrate..." oh how he wished that he hadn't taken this battle in such a public place. Or that he would at least know what moves an Eevee could use. What was it his brother had told him now? Despite what attacks they develop later on nearly all pok?mon start out with one or two of basic moves from a narrow selection? Which did this one have? Peck? No, Lumi didn't have a beak after all. Vine whip? Nope, no vines either. Ember? No, she was a normal type pok?mon. Normal type pok?mon had normal type moves, and the most normal of all normal moves was. "Tackle." Felix said quietly, before raising his voice back to the level of a whisper. Fortunately, the breeze was blowing from his direction and carried his words to the girl without him needing to shout them out and embarass her "Sheba, tell Lumi to Tackle."

He returned his voice to normal volume, it would be too awkward if he didn't put up any kind of fight. "Okay Skie." he said to the Swablu, who was still looking slightly upset about the Growl "Growl!"

As if guided by some natural instinct, the bird pok?mon inhaled a good amount of air, the blue feathers on her stomach puffing up in what was probably meant to be an intimdating posture, before letting out a low growling noise that compared quite nicely to the one Lumi had made.

Yuriko continued to walk while he talked to the others. "well i was interested in breeding pokemon." he said smiling at cebrina. "i mean it seems fun i think i have oine or two classes for that.' he says looking down at his scheduale. "yeah i had but i missed it." he says to here. he then looked back up looking for Pete who as it seemed had either been very quiet or left. "hey were's Pete?" he asked "i'm supposed to go to the battles with him." he says looking at Cebrina

Sheba gulped.
She was shaking slight; after all, what happened if Lumi didn't want to? What happened if the eevee turned away and decided battling wasn't her thing? She cast a glance at the crowd, most of which were jeering. Sheba was struck with the sudden urge to kick them, but she resisted. Sure, Lumi could muck up.. but she could also do really, really well. It was worth a shot.

"Okay...." she muttered apprehensively, "Tackle, Lumi!" she called, and as if by magic, something inside the eevee clicked. She bowed her head and leapt, charging straight for Skie in a flurry of white fur.

"Swa!" the Swablu exclaimed in surprise as Lumi's tackle attack struck, sending the light bird pok?mon cannonballing backwards through the air before she regained her balance.

"Perfect." Felix said quietly, smiling a bit as he noticed that his friend was beginning to get into the spirit of the thing, "Okay then Skie, go for another Peck!"

The bird pok?mon obediently swooped down towards her opponent once more, beak at the ready. Obviously she was slowly getting the hang of battling as well.

OOC:Sorry, Ive not been here, I have school then a Piano lesson. Evil....
Oh yeah, you can choose what lessons you attend, depending on waht you're like. For example, Battlers are more likely to choose Item Science and Battle Studies, but Breeders and Coordinators will probably go to Pokemon Care.

IC: Pete lost Yuriko and the others. He was feeling weird and shaky. Kyver was staring at him and growling. "I'm going into town to train," he said to Kyver and wakled out to Cinnabar Town. He found the pier and saw a bunch of Tentacool attacking someone.
"Kyver, scratch those Tentacool!" he commanded and Kyver clawed them all up. Finally a big one appeared. It hit Kyver with a Water Gun, but Kyver got up. His dart symbol flashed and he burst a small fireball out his mouth. "Ember," muttered Pete, "Kyver, Ember!".

Kyver fired the Ember right at the Tentacools red spot and it swam off. The man was grateful to Pete and gave him some cash. Pete checked his watch. "Battle time," he said. Immediately he rushed back to the school. He saw Yuriko with a new girl and went up to them. "Yuriko, it's Pete here. The battle's are now," he said. Kyver heard this and jumped up. "Hey I'm going to find Sheba and Felix. See you there," continued Pete. He found them battling each other(thats true). Sheba's Eevee, which Pete heard was called Lumi had just tackled Felix's Swablu, which Pete heard was called Skie. Kyver started cheering. "Bagon, Gon, Gon, Bag, Bagon," it happily said.
"Don't get to slouched Kyver! Just because you can do a badass Ember dosen't meen you're the best. That Swablu looks good," Pete replied,"so does that Eevee. Last time I saw it, it was scared of you. Now it's on fire."

Sheba and Lumi were redy for it this time; the little eevee was sent sprawling, and she was nearly knocked clean off her feet by the sheer force of Skie's attack. Somehow, she managed to recover herself at the last second, and ran around Skie in a wide loop.

"Tackle!" Sheba shouted, caught up in the excitement. She could see Lumi's hit points were right down low; one more peck would finish her off, but they would go down in style!

Lumi leapt.

"Alright! One last Peck Skie!" Felix called, too preoccupied with the battle to even notice the presence of Pete and his Bagon, Klyver. An excited smile played on Felix's face as he fought, feeling the wind in his body. The crowd members seemed to have given up on jeering now, some of them even beginning to root for the two combatants instead.

With a final shrill cry, Skie dove towards Lumi, just as the Eevee approached on her own, ready to deliver another Tackle. Both of them made contact in mid-air, flying off to their respective corners of the battlefield and briefly seeming knocked out. Lumi's last attack had been dead on, a critical hit that had caught hit Swablu where it hurt. For a moment, it seemed like Skie was down. But then, the bird pok?mon began to twitch ever so slightly, trembling from the effort as it flapped its tired wings rapidly in order to maintain a clumsy hovering kind of flight. She was still conscious, although just barely, apparently struggling along on her last HP as she gave Felix a triumphant smile, letting out a weak 'swaa'.

Lumi bounced back on impact, and this time she didn't land neatly on her feet. She feel awkwardly, and collapsed.
Before she had even hit the ground, Sheba was rushing forward. "Oh! Lumi! Lumi, my darling!" she rushed forward, and lifted Lumi's limp form carefully off the ground, as if she was made of china.
"Will she be okay?" she asked Felix, sounding very much an idiot.
She couldn't help but grin at his triumphant expression; "Nice win." she said, in the hoarse throaty way they always did on TV.

"Oh she'll be fine." Felix replied, quickly rushing forward and grabbing Skie into his arms as the Swablu plummeted again. The bird pok?mon maintained a weak smile of contentment as it lay in his arms. "All this fighting just wore her out. Like what happened with Skie here." he nodded towards the bird pok?mon, stroking its feathered head affectionately. "We'll just need to take them to a pok?mon center and they'll be back on their feet in a few minutes. Good as new."

Felix grinned back at the congratulations he recieved, "It was a close call, though." he replied "It could just as easily have been Lumi who stood up in the end. But thanks." the boy finally noticed a familiar looking boy and his Bagon who had apparently joined into watching the battle while they were preoccupied. "Oh, hi there Pete." Felix said, "And Klyver." he added, nodding to the Bagon "I'd love to chat, but I think we need to get our pok?mon healed first." he turned to the crowd, the members of which seemed to have been quite touched by the entire conclusion "Could anyone of you tell me where the pok?mon center is?"

Normally, asking a crowd of strangers for directions would have been the last thing that Felix would have done, but a newfound courage was surging through the boy as a result of the victory and at the moment he felt like he could take on the world. One of the crowd members soon pointed towards the red roof of the Cinnabar pok?mon center, the whole crowd finally realizing that the show was over and giving the two trainers a polite round of applause before scattering again.

"Well then." Felix said, turning back to Sheba "Let's go get these two healed. You can come too if you want, Pete." he added to the boy, setting of towards the pok?mon center at a fairly leisurly pace while cradling the Swablu in his arms and whispering compliments to her now and again.

"Stylish," muttered Pete,"Kyver, you know your style. Attack during pauses, right?"
"Bag, Gon, Bagon," Kyver nodded. "Hey, the battle courts are open now!" exclaimed Pete, looking at his watch. Pete yelled down. "Felix, Sheba, the battle courts are open now," he cried, "Oh yeah, that was really good battling! Me and Kyver have been training. We helped some guy from a bunch of Tentacools. There was this really big one, it was this big..." Pete opened his arms out wide, "but Kyver started blowing some smoke around and Embered it. It hit me too." Pete showed the black smudge on his shirt. He looked down at Sheba's Eevee. He thought it was more...confident. He snapped back to the present as Felix asked him if he wanted to come to the pokemon center. "Sure, I think it's next to the Fuji Lab. Then I'm going to the courts for the battles. there's a newbie class and I'm playing someone called Hazz. Wanna tag along?"

Sheba smiled at Pete, but she couldn't manage anything else. She was too worried for her pokemon, who had gone incredibly still and silent. "It's okay, Lumi. I'll get you healed up in a moment, I swear..." She followed Felix fearfully, apparently close to tears.

"She will be okay, won't she?" Sheba asked again, her voice getting steadily more high-pitched as they got closer and closer to the pokemon center. Sheba had heard Nurse Joy worked wonders, but she couldn't help feeling scared. Her little white eevee had gone from being full of life one second, to a rag-doll the next.

She broke into a run, crashing through the pokecenter door and nearly knocking over a pair of twins who were coming out. "Please help!" she yelped, and shoved her eevee into Nurse Joy's arms. The Nurse smiled knowledgably. She was used to rookies freaking out like this, Sheba guessed.
