Looks legit. I might try it out for something new once my tablet is fixed next week.

This hack is insane...made it to #91 pretty much exclusively using a Latios (+ Soul Dew + X Items). Will need to rethink my strategy to finish the last 10 trainers!

Man, this is such an interesting idea. I will try it tonight to as soon as i can. Good work!

Yeah, that thing is pretty busted. Of course, it's a whole different challenge to do it without saving between trainers.

Found a bug in the singles version! In the room in which you find Espeon (and others I don't remember), if you go up to the right corner the trainer gets stuck and you can't move him or do anything else :(

Found out what caused it. If you encounter an Unown, the game crashes. Probably something to do with the game not knowing which Unown form to load or something along those lines. Unown is now removed in version 1.1. Apologies to all people who wanted to attempt an Unown only solo run.

The only thing I wish was that there was a physical/special split optional patch. This is fun as heck even without it though! I'd love to see this done on HG/SS, if it's even possible. Hmmm... Maybe I'll try it...

I tried to keep it as close to gen 3 mechanics as possible. I do think a gen 4 version could be possible, since this is one of the simpler hacks, but I don't have any hacking knowledge of the gen 4 games (not to mention, it would be pretty hard to test them on my PC, since it sucks).

This is a neat idea, kinda reminds me of the battle pyramid or the game boy game Cave Noire in a way.

Looking at the last screenshot also reminds me, there's a way to let permadeath happen. I once made a patch based on some info in Research and Development (I think it was in the quick thread, it was years back), where if you lost the game would reset and delete your save. Perhaps that would be preferable to Trainer Jail for some?

Can't for the life of me find the PC, for swapping pokemon. PC in bedroom doesn't have pokemon storage option.

Enter the very top building. It has the interior, similar to that of the Trainer Tower. There you can find a PC.

I found a highly useful exploit to make it through the pit, but you have to make sure you only switch it in on certain Pokémon, in order to continue using it. I think I found the right balance of Revives, Max potions, Full heals and Ethers, too. With this strategy, and the team I came up with, alongside optimal item uses and plays, this can be beatable with no items in battle, set mode, and no save state abuse (I don't count my 1st win since I did use save states, but I was going in blind, and was learning strategy.).

Personally, I wish there was a name rater that is accessible, since I like nicknaming Pokémon, but it gets tedious if I have to nickname like 30 of the same species if I'm going for optimal stats.

This is one of the hardest ROM hacks to beat without save states, and it's one of my favorites!

I'm very glad you enjoy it. I have not seen someone beat the pit with Set mode yet, so that's interesting. The opponent trainer teams sheet exists purely so players don't have to rely so much on remembering every single opponent pokemon every run (unless they like it blind of course).
Sorry for the lack of the Name Rater. He didn't really came to mind when making the hack, since the hack is so combat focused and I never nickname my pokemon.

Another question: Last night, I had the inspiration to make a spin−off of this, but with the Pokémon Emerald engine. May I have your permission (you can DM me) to use ideas from your hack (like item prices, concept of the game, etc.) into my spin−off? I will try to remember to credit you once I can publish it.

Sure, go ahead. Do whatever you want with the concept

Just a question: do enemy trainers have EVs in their stats?

No, they don't. Mainly due to the fact that beating 100 of them in a row with EVs would be nightmarish and would need a huge rebalancing of the starting money (and I also don't know how to give trainers EVs yet).
If you want to have a sorta similar experience as the trainers having EVs, you can not give them to your pokemon and try to beat it, but I wouldn't recommend it :P

I also don't know how to give trainers EVs yet

Don't you need to set this value in Gen 3 Tools?

If that value doesn't actually affect trainers' EVs, then what does it do?

Edit: I found this in this game's data, too:
