Poketraz island was the first destination. It seemed official. While everybody was waiting to head out it seemed they were all getting "Sparring partners" to practice their techniques. Before Len could think to find a partner of his own, A wooper jumped down from her seat and asked Len...

"Hey, I was thinking it might be a good idea to spar with you. We both have the ability water absorb, which heals us if hit by a water type move. I figure that this would make the battle challenging. Unless, of course, you only know water-type moves, because I would have an easy win then. So, you up for this?"

Len jumped down from his seat and replied.. "Oh sure! Accept the only two moves I know are bubblebeam and Water spout. I'd probably lose badly in that case. And... Seeing how we don't have hands to do "Hand to hand" combat with.. That wouldn't work either..." Bubblebeam was probobly the only good move Len had. Water sport would just weaken any fire types on his own side, Making it extremely useless to him. "Ya know, We could practice shooting targets. I could fire a few bubbles with Bubblebeam and we could see if we can get a good shot at them. What do ya think?"

All Len needed was an answer now. Then Len remembered "Oh! I came sorta late so I never caught your name.."

Shierk's display caused Rokan to raise an eyebrow, or whatever sort of eyebrow Vulpix had, in amusement. That was certainly a lot of trouble just to show off. What he was showing off for, she wasn't entirely sure. But that didn't matter, she supposed. Some Pokemon, most often males, were just like that. Perhaps he was one of them.

When she had suggested sparring she really hadn't anyone in mind for a partner, so when the showy Elekid offered she nodded. "Yes, that sounds good. That way we can be sure neither of us will hurt the other too bad. I believe just about everyone else in the room, I either have an advantage against or they have an advantage against me. So we're safe."

She rose to her paws, tails swishing serenely. "But I promise I will not harm you in any way as much as possible. Yes, injuries are going to occur, but if they do I will hold myself responsible and make sure you get aid."

Miska was going to say something when Shierk spoke first. "Okay," said Miska, "I wouldn't have been able to think of something, so..." With that, she decided to listen in on the last of Haley's speech(Which were only the last few words). Not knowing exactly what to do, she looked at what everyone else was doing. She noticed that many were getting in pairs, so she decided to talk with someone.

Now she was caught up in a tough decision. There was that Numel, Barl, and there was the Buizel, Alex. Deciding quickly, she went up to Barl. "Well, since we are already introduced - sorta, why don't we...do what everyone else is doing?" She said, hoping that the pause or the words didn't give Barl reason to believe that she wasn't listening.

Things were going way too fast, first Alexei and Len joined the group, then everyone began talking about fighting and learning new moves, Max frankly wanted to learn all the punching type moves, after she finished perfecting her Close Combat. Then after they finished discussing moves, they moved onto picking sparring partners and making googly eyes at Growlithe or Alexei or one another or something to that like. A tiny scowl appeared on her face, it was like her school years all over again, all the pretty or cute or cool people got attention while the other minorities were left in the dust, Max glanced at Growlithe (still has yet to get her name XD) and was instantly reminded of Sally Blu, a beautiful Swablu, who was also a stuck up snooty brat who liked to walk all over her admirers and swear she was like Arceus' gift to the earth.

"I hate girls like that" Max's scowl deepened slightly before she shook her head and sighed "I shouldn't be thinking like that, Growlithe seems really nice, I mean if she was a stuck up brat, she wouldn't have answered me so nicely. . ." When Max heard them began to talk about guns and being armed, she was reminded of her sensei, who wasn't a really big fan of guns, the Medicham frowned down upon Pokémon who used weapons, he believed that they were used to make cowards stronger and often wondered why Pokémon like them needed such useless weapons, all of them were weapons, without a gun or what have you, no Pokémon was stronger than the other, they could all be beaten due to type weakness but even type weakness didn't always work, but if you honed your skills, you could become stronger and overcome your obstacle and things like weaknesses, so why use a weapon.

Because of Medicham's teachings Max also preferred not to use weapons, like guns or knives, she preferred her fists, the feel of her knuckles slamming into the hard gravel or store or rock or whatever she was punching, was such a nice feeling "Hmm, maybe I should wrap my knuckles with some bandages, that'd be cool" Max glanced at her hands and flexed her fingers. A small smile creeping on her face, replacing her scowl.

The scowl however came back full force when she saw Shierk show his guns "What a showoff" Max rolled her eyes while she mumbled under her breath, before huffing loudly and looked briefly around the room when a majority of the team began to pair up "So. . . does anyone who's not making googly eyes at our teammates wanna pair up with me during the sparring? Or is this Machop fighting solo? And maybe, could we all introduce ourselves again, cause I have no clue what most of you guys names are." Max stopped looking sour and put a grin on her face, she wondered who her partner would be.

Now more fighting pairs were beginning to emerge; Shierk and Rokan, Hayley and Len, and now it seemed Miska was talking to Barl, though she didn't exactly look confident. Alexei was still practising his (amazing) moves alone.
"It looks like everyone's getting ready to fight each other now," Rani commented quietly to whoever happened to be listening, before stopping and listening to Max, the Machop who was scowling at everyone. She couldn't help but smirk at the googly eyes comment. She, too, thought all of this business quite annoying. They needed to focus. Stupid Shierk distracting her from her duty-
Sweet mother of Clamperl, she was doing it again! Her eyes widened in annoyance at herself.
"Hey, Max," she called, "I don't think I ever told you, but my name's Rani," she said with a hint of pride in her voice, which she then changed into a murmur to say "You're right; he's a total showoff." She grinned, then glanced over at the Elekid, who was speaking to Rokan, probably about sparring with her. Rokan seemed to be saying something about trying not to hurt him, or something like that. Rani didn't doubt he would come out with this ego, if not his body, a little burned after fighting a Fire Type like Rokan. A reality check would be good for him.

Kreep looked over to his side, seeing the magnemite (whose name he still didn't know) from before. The electric type asked if Kreep wanted to spar with him, although it seemed a bit uncertain. Although he would have accepted the offer, Kreep had already got the "okay" from Rani. How could he pass up on that? However, Kreep then noticed Rani had started talking to Max. The bellsprout wanted to get to know this guy better, seeing as he was the only one here who seemed to prefer a good, hand to hand (or in Kreep's case, leaf) fight. "Imf shorry, buth I alshready hash a parthner. Why don'th shwe go thoo thasht Maxth guy ovsher there? He couldsh probathly shpar wit shyoo. Eventh sho you're weakth to shfightingth, I'm sure thyoo have gooth defenshes," Kreep said to the levitating 'mon. He hoped that the magnemite could find a sparring partner, since he felt a little bad about not being able to spar with him.

Hearing Kreep apologise to the Magnemite, Rani turned around to look at them again.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" she said. "I hope I'm not getting in the way..."
Well, at least he was given a suggestion about who he could pair up with, rather than just being abandoned.

Wait, had Kreep referred to Max as male? Rani was about to question him, but decided against it. She had probably just heard wrong, and if she hadn't, it would at least be a little amusing to see the Bellsprout's reaction when he realised she was... A she.

((OOC: Seeing as how Broadway kinda dropped out...Let's rewind this a little))

Miska looked around for someone to go with, and noticed the Eevee. Walking up, she nearly tripped on her own feet. She didn't catch the Eevee's name, but she decided to talk anyway. "Well..." she said sheepishly, "I never got to know your name, mine is Miska, b-but most Pok-kemon call me Missy...I just thought we could do...what everyone else is doing..." She had not heard the Eevee talking aloud, so she never mentioned it.

It didn't seem as though Kreep was dying to battle, and all the stress of the morning was beginning to wear Rani out. She hadn't been the most active of police recruits, so her stamina wasn't as good as it could have been. She wasn't unfit, just not in her prime.
If she was honest, she just couldn't be bothered to stand around doing nothing anymore, so she decided she would lie down and do nothing instead, until someone expressed an interest in interacting with her. Taking a few steps backwards so she wouldn't be in anyone's way, she sat, they lay down and rested her snout on her paws. Her eyes soon found their way to watching Buizel again. With his agility, power and fluid movements, it was difficult to look away. She hoped that one day she could fight as impressively as he did.

((OOC: I'm off to bed; if you need to bunny Rani while I'm gone for some strange reason, please check out the OOC thread - I've written some stuff about it there. ^_^))

Shierk smiled when Rokan said yes. "And I will try not to harm you either Rokan. Are you ready to go outside?" Shierk motioned towards the door as he said this, ready to spar with his partner. Then he remembered something. "Hey uh...Rokan? How well do you know Rani?"

((Last post for DAYS! Please bunny Haley enough that she doesn't get left behind.))

Len had responded with a yes, even though he only knew water-type moves. Then he had suggested that they maybe do some target practice, and he mentioned that this could help improve his bubblebeam. "Sound's like a great idea! Hmmm, I know that there is a shooting range in this building where there are some targets... maybe we could practice there? I don't know any long-distance moves, but maybe you could teach me something. Or of course, I could just use my gun. I still need some practice with that." Haley hoped that Len was pleased with her suggestion. In the moment before he responded, she flashed a glance at Alexei, trying to be so quick that no one would notice. He seemed to be practicing some moves, and he looked quite impressive. Just the ally we need to take down Darkrai. Haley was focused completely on Len again and waited for his response.

"No need for an apology." Mack said to Rani's statement. It turned to Kreep. "And you're right, I suppose we could ask Max if I would make a good choice for...her." Mack quickly remembered the fact that Max was a female....strange. With no hesitation, Mack left its seat and approached the Machop. "Would you mind me being your sparring partner? My feelings won't be hurt if you refuse." Within a second after its request, Mack recalled Max's other question. "Wait, hold that thought; you wanted to know our names. Well, you're not too late for mine, I haven't introduced myself to anybody yet." After saying that, Mack felt rather dimwitted about its lack of introduction. Mack loudened its voice, so that the others could hear, and proceeded. "My name is Mack. I'm an electrician from Treasure City's power plant." Mack turned and faced the others, hoping they could introduce themselves as well.

Rokan began moving towards the door with Shierk, not expecting further conversation before sparks began to fly. But then he spoke again, a question she would not have expected. Then again she'd seen him favoring Rani prior to this, and she'd seen Rani staring at him, so why not?

"I just met her today," she said thoughtfully. "Though from what I can see she fancies you. It may take a bit to convince her of that. She tends to place Growlithe and Arcanine above all others. She even seemed a little taken aback when I pointed out my flop ear." She tossed her head for emphasis, to make her ear twitch. "But otherwise, I think she's interested."

She finished, hoping that was what Shierk had meant. It would be incredibly awkward if it was not.

Soon enough they were outside, in an area clear enough for lots of movement. There was a single tree behind Shierk and grass under Rokan's paws; exactly how it should be for beggining Pokemon, she thought. Were it not for the grassy lawn in front of the station they would be on streets, cement, and in between buildings. Once again she was grateful for the rural touch in urban areas. But her focus needed to be on battling now. She stood lower to the ground, her neck parallel with her body, her limbs tensed for action. Her heart thudded even before they began. Her love was for traditional battling and finally she would have a chance to really try it out.

"Make your move, Shierk," she said almost tauntingly in a velvet tone.

"A target range huh? That'll work fine." Len Replied cheerfully. "You only know growl and tackle right? Maybe While we're there, I could probably help you at least learn Water gun. At his rate, You should be more then ready to learn how to use it.. "And maybe I could learn a useful move this time then water sport..." Len muttered to himself.

Everybody was already heading outside to practice their abilities it seemed, Leaving Only Len and Haley at the target range. Before The two of them went to find this range, Len noticed that Alexei, The buziel didn't have a sparing partner. Even though he DID sort of take Len's spotlight with that flashy entrance, He did feel sorry for the guy. Nobody wants to be alone... Len knew how that felt, Being the oddball of his own home after all. Besides, The two were just going to a target range to practice shooting and this guy seemed to be pretty experienced at that so....

"Hey Alexei!" Len yelled. "If your still looking for a partner, Me and Haley are going to the target range. I wouldn't mind a third person to practice with." Len then turned to haley "I mean, If your alright practicing with a thrid person that is. He's a water Pokemon also, He could probably teach us some stuff also. What do ya think?"

Shierk nodded at Rokan's description of Rani. It wasn't exactly what he was looking for, but it was enough. Now that he knew she probably liked him...

Shierk followed Rokan outside where the Sparring was to take place. Shierk positioned himself into a crouching postion, and smiled "Okay Rokan, if you insist." Shierk let loose with a leer, The violent high pitched sound tearing through the air. He didn't know if she could hear it in her floppy ear, but her other ear should be enough. Shierk backflipped towards the tree, and began to run at Rokan, executing a quick attack as he did so.

He was pretty sure he hit her as he passed her, but he wasn't positive, looking over his shoulder he said, "Your turn."

Rokan felt her body go rigid at the horrific Leer, her legs weakening. Shierk did indeed hit her as he passed, but a single Quick Attack wasn't going to keep her down. She stumbled a little then wheeled around, large eyes glowing blue in a manner reminiscent of a Psyduck. After a moment it became clear why; using the move her Psyduck heritage had given to her, she mentally Disabled him, then without moving opened her jaws and let loose a barrage of small fiery spheres. They floated beautifully to him and then surrounded him, sticking to his body.

When Mack the magnemite introduced himself, Rani's eyes flicked from the Buizel to him. It seemed he was okay about not fighting Kreep, which was a relief. She didn't want more of the recruits to feel animosity towards her.
Now Shierk and Rokan had made their way from the room, and Rani could have sworn she heard Shierk mention her name as he was leaving, but she had probably just imagined it. Not that it even mattered, of course. She couldn't help but look after Shierk and Rokan as they left. Rokan seemed like she was deep in thought as she disappeared out of sight, and Rani vaguely wondered why.
She sighed wistfully as she turned back to watching Buizel fight his invisible foe, hoping that when Kreep was fighting, he wasn't as skillful... Then again, a more skillful fighter was what this quest needed. Perhaps he would go easy on her? No, he wouldn't. And he shouldn't. This practice was to hone their skills and find out where their strengths and weaknesses were.
She just needed to be confident. She was a Growlithe. She could do this.
At that moment, Len the Poliwag offered to train with Buizel, and by now Mack had introduced himself to Max and asked to be her partner.
It seemed as though everyone was getting ready to go, and now Rani looked up at Kreep. From her position on the floor, he looked much taller than her, and she was getting rather nervous and apprehensive about their upcoming battle. It was clear from his attitude that he had fought before, and had probably won, and here she was, with a massive type advantage but completely unable to take advantage of it. Unskilled in fighting and with a poor moveset, the only thing going for her was her greater body mass and weight, though of course this gave Kreep room for move flexibility, and meant he could probably trip her up quite easily. She would have to find a way around that...
Her thoughts focused around the failed Type Advantage, which drew her back into thinking about how Shierk was doing in his battle against Rokan. She wondered whether he'd been scorched yet, and suddenly really felt like watching the battle. She wanted to see him get beaten by Rokan. Of course, she couldn't just walk out and watch them fight. It would be rude, both to them and to her partner, Kreep, not to mention it would give Shierk the wrong idea. In fact, anyone who had witnessed the staring incident would get the wrong idea. As more moments passed, she was missing more and more of the battle, and she didn't want to miss Shierk being beaten.

So, she groggily and nervously heaved herself up from the floor and softly poked Kreep as she had done when she first spoke to him.
"Hey, Kreep," she said, "It looks like everyone else is beginning to get going. Perhaps we should go too." She gestured towards the door with her snout, and added "If we hurry, we may get outside in time to see Rokan fry Shierk."
If it had just sounded as though she was eager to see Shierk, she hadn't meant it. She was eager to see Shierk beaten. She had only added it because she thought the idea of seeing Shierk beaten might encourage Kreep to agree.

Shierk grunted as Rokan's Disable Rendered him unmoving. He screamed in pain as the fireballs hit his body and stuck to him, singing his fur. He had an extremely pained look on his face as electricity sparked between his prongs. He squeezed his eyes tightly, as the sparks grew bigger and bigger. When he felt the disable weaken, he released the pent up power as a thundershock behind him. He spun around, hoping the attack hit.

Kreep was glad to see Mack getting a bit more social, as he introduced himself to Max and the others. However, he didn't have time to respond, as Rani asked him if he was ready to battle yet. What most pleased him, though, was that she mentioned watching Shierk lose to Rokan. "Alshright, shlet's get goingth oufshide thenf," the bellsprout said excidedly. Walking a bit faster than he usually did, Kreep made his way to the building's exit, with Rani following behind. Eventually they reached the outdoors, Kreep letting out a small sigh. This was how he liked to fight. Soft, living grass beneath his roots, and a clear sky above. In the end, it was the grass the made the most difference. Kreep could feel his roots ever so slightly sinking into the ground, almost connecting with the grass. He could feel what the grass felt, and "see" what it "saw". With this connection with the plants, Kreep was able to tell exactly where Rani was without even looking. "Alshright, let'sf shtart!" he roared, immediatly turning around without even warning the growlithe. Not much of a strategic thinker, Kreep hit Rani square in the jaw with a kicking vine whip. There was a sickening, wet, "slap!" sound on the impact. Memories of many a fight brought themeselves back into Kreep's mind. This was why he liked his job. Ready to pound the foe right in the face with one of his artifically spiked leaves, Kreep suddenly stopped short. This wasn't a foe... it was Rani... The bellsprout snapped himself out of his fighting trance, and instead did something a bit more surprising. Without even thinking, Kreep started using tickle on Rani, not letting her get back up from the vine whip attack.

Mack counted all the sparring partners in its head. "Lets see, Rokan is with Shierk, Kreep and Rani just left, Miska, the Numel-I think his name is Barl, Alexei, and Twilight seem undecided." At least the members were even; no one should be left out.
Who was going to take Alexei? Mack had a hunch, but there was no need to jump to conclusions.

Seeing how strong Max was with the door earlier, Mack wondered for a moment why she needed training, she already seemed very powerful, unlike itself, who never had to do intense fighting moves.
Most of the time, Mack would run from its enemies or occasionally use its Metal Sound move to distract them.
"Do you know any rooms or whatsoever that can be used as a training area? I don't come here often."
