I'm aware of this, and I know that its essentially just a demonstration. But, as you said, it gave me a "feel" of what Pokémon Neo battles would be like, and they "feel" incredibly simplistic and ugly in nature. The fact that you tout the "any side could win aspect" as an actual 'feature' of the battle system is slightly worrying.
That's what Pokemon Neo battles will be like before it switches to live action, which it will be for most of the game. Plus, there's always room for improvment. And the only reason I mentioned, "any side could win in this game," is because people weren't realizing that what I already released was purely a demonstration.
Just thought I'd mention, the original link to the demo is no longer online. Not sure if this is intentional.
Great.
It's certainly possible for you to reveal some aspects of this "secret project", without having to actually reveal any part of the storyline. What platform is being used? What features will be included?
Revealing the secret project would be 1,000,000 times worse than revealing the storyline.
OK, that's certainly a good thing. How do you think Pokémon Neo (or your other project) will meet or even beat, say, Blue Chrome in quality? In fact, not just Blue Chrome, but any game in the Showcase, or even this forum? Admittedly I see many games within the Showcase as sub-par, but I think all of them are eons ahead of what you've got here.
And that's where major improvements come in.
On the contrary, I commend your maturity and politeness with responding to my concerns. Not many people share your composure here.
Thank you. Of course, I might have been rude in
this post, so, sorry if that's the case. Or maybe I'm just crazy regarding that kinda stuff.
I don't get it. I really do believe that everyone in this community knows how the Pokemon Battle system and Movement System work. Those can't be your bigshot features, because every Pokemon game has them and has to have them. 4 Generations of Nintendo's games came out, and we are familiar with the really basic systems of the game, so please stop referring to that as your major goal, because it's just embarrasing.
It' not a major feature. I mentioned it would be possible because people didn't realize that what was laready released was purely for demonstration. And, not everyone knows how to play a Pokemon game, especially if it's unnofficial.
Ok...now more to me being more of a. This, I really wouldn't advertise as a major project or even something close to it. Frankly anyone can make their Ubuntu version look like any version of Windows. I mean, all you need is:
GnoMenu
CompizConfig Settings Manager
Emerald Theme Manager
Dockbar/DockbarX
Shinybar theme
Windows button images
And voila...you have Windows 7 look on your Ubuntu. I don't think it's a big deal, and to say that you've devoted all your recent time on skinning Ubuntu makes me go: "so what?". I've done it...I still do it, but customizing Ubuntu takes a really, really short time, so saying that this is the reason why you haven't been working on your game strongly, is just a lame excuse.
Sorry for being mean, harsh, a retard and stuff, but if you are not serious enough about making a decent game that can compete with others, stop now, and stop wasting people's time.
That's why the team works very hard adding free, alternative features of Windows Longhorn. I agree, just adding a Longhorn theme to Ubuntu is nothing special. But LH Linux does much more.
This seems like a joke...
First things first, the house screen. Did you take a screen from an old Pokemon game double it in size and then pruposefully blur it? Because that's what it looks like you've done. And if you did double the size intentionally, why not make the player bigger too?
The battle screen, why is it smaller than the house screen? Does the resolution change like this through the whole game? Question marks wouldn't like to battle, only trainers do, not Pokemon. Speaking of that, what is it? As for the graphics, you could have easily gone onto sprters resource and found the right graphics. Instead you drew some circles on paint and put some arial text in...
"Cut scene", is that supposed to be Hoenn? All it is is a rectangle, three ovals and a circle. And yet again it's a different size to the others.
There's no excuse for this sort of quality, and I have read your excuses. You should scrap this prodject right now and try and make it slightly better quality than the worst on here ever.
I'm going to report this thread, it's just unaceptable.
I took a background & character that were out of proportion. Didn't bother fixing it
yet. And that monstrous creature's a trainer... that's all I'm saying for now. But remember, he sent out a Dialga. And, no, that's not Hoenn at all.

You know what, I would close this. As much as I've argued against all this, everyone here does have a point. (Well, I'm obviously not talking about those who cut me some slack, of which to those, thank you very much, but that;s beside the point.) This was an ugly project of horrible quality that didn't add much to the table and I haven't worked on in ages, me having moved past this a long time ago. Plus, it generated tons of arguments between me and other forum-goers. The fact that the pre-beta demo was a demonstration caused lots of arguments and initial misunderstandings, (of which, once understood, didn't help at all,) was, in itself, a cause for many arguments. I never wanted to reveal the storyline, but that might've been it's only good point. After all, it seems the live action gaming didn't go through. And maybe even the storyline wouldn't.
...The problem is, I can't scrap this. Why? Well, the core idea of this game wasn't what one would normally expect, and certainly one most people have not gone with.
Long ago, this project started in a time when I and most people my age didn't really go on the net that much. A time when we didn't really realize that making something like, a Pokemon game for instance, wouldn't have been special. But here's the deal. What did me & a couple of people want? Yeah, we wanted to have ideas that, hm, who knows, might get in a Pokemon game one day. A Pokemon game that was ours, that we could mold into whatever we wanted. It didn't necessarily have to have all these great features as Blue Chrome would come to have, just something that was ours.
I was the only one who took a little bit of it and stuck with it for years. However, what we imagined so far couldn't really make up a game. So, I added ideas. These ideas came and morphed insto the storyline of the Flash game this thread is made for.
I can't let go of Pokemon Neo. All we wanted to make was our
own Pokemon game with our
own ideas, & someone, (even if it has to be me,) has to still stick with a bit of it, even if stuff has to happen to it.
And that's why there's no axing. If anyone wants to take this project off my hands, I'll give you everything I'm willing to. It would be much more than what I've given to the general public.
