    Introduction
    ====================
    Hi I have taken the time to exrtensively rework my entire thread to be more appealing and pleasing to the majority. I am SytheXP also refered to as ScytheXP. I am an artist. I paint and sketch many things. I first started on the pokemon scene in 3rd grade. I am now a graduating senior in highschool and a aspiring graphic artist and video game designer. I started with the Pokemon TCG me, my bro, and my sis used place the cards face down and pretend we were in a made up region and we were the newest trainers starting in that region. We would slowly progress through the cards battling and capturing them and then facing one another. Later as we aged we drew various fakemon made movesets and dex entries. 2 years ago I tried my hands at ROM hacking. I had a fairly decent start on my hack and then my computer got fried in a thunder storm and I lost all progress. Later I tried to revamp my hack in the form of a fangame using RGMXP. Sadly I dropped my laptop and the hard drive got messed up so Pokemon Darkside was a flop. Well once again I am here with a project. This time however there is one difference. I will be releasing this project. I have it backed up on 2 other computers incase of a mishap. These other 2 computers don't connect to the internet at all. So no bugs or Lightning to harm them. Anyway I have always loved to draw new fakemon and imagine how they would face up against existing pokemon. Pokemon Phantom Dusk/Misty Dawn/Hazy Twilight is going to allow you all an insight into not only mine but the rest of my teams creativity. We will breing you thrills, horror, romance, and mystery all in the form of a Pokemon game. And yes I plan to implement various genres as events in the game.

    .::The Masuyo Region::. I renamed the region after the Japanese word Masuyo which means "Benefit" and "World"

    The Masuyo region is located South West of Hoenn close to Johto (Yes I repositioned its location). It is a fairly peaceful region with beautiful forests and glorious beaches. It also has a Volcano to the south and a Icy Slope to the north. Overall this is one a fairly perfect place for a vacation and even better place to live.

    .::Masuyo Folklore and Myths::.
    ====================
    "Long ago the realms were created. Time and Space, Land and Water. Balance was bestowed and the universe began its new life. Many new beings and worlds were brought into exsistance but all was dark and life was barely sustainable. The creaor seeing this flaw brought forth the crater of light. With a flash and a bang a meteorite landed deep in the Obnniox Volcano and world trembled as light filled the eyes of many. But something was wrong light existed and darkness never again fell over the world. People became restless and suffered through intense heat. A drought was bestowed over the world and many lives were loss. Seeing this as a problem the Creator sought out a solution to bring the darkness back to the world to relieve the people of these intense situations. Again another meteor fell from the sky falling in the darkest depths of Dusk forest and out came the keeper of darkness. Now the darkness attempted to engulf the world and the light was not pleased so a war began to be waged in the skies above the Masuyo Region. The war waged for years and Light and Darkness passed through different phases. As one would gain control the time would shift from night today and as the other would gain control it would shift backwards. It was a never ending cycle. Finally growing tired of this feud the Creator created one more being. One to moderate the other two and to keep control over day and night. Thus the birth of the twilight. With this new beings arrival and the fact that he had control over the minimal night and day factors the two warring creatures attmepted to destroy him only to be sealed away in their meteorites. One deep in Dusk forest the other in the depths of Dawn Volcano. After sealing these two titains away the being of Twilight had little power left so he bestowed the last remaining portion of his power in the sacred gym of twilight and hid it deep in the oceans blue as he vanished into the twilight realm.

    Of course no one knows how acurate this legend is or if its even true. All I can say is that legends are still being written and you may be a part of one yourself."

    *Phone rings* Hello I am Lilly Evergreen, I take it you are the newest resident to the Masuyo Region and Candriff town. I happen to be your neighbor and one of the top Pokemon researchers around. I see you are a transfer student from the Johto region's Pokemon Academy. I have talked to all of your teachers and they have granted me permision to assign you a project of my own. Don't worry you will gain full credit in your classes and still be able to graduate as scheduled. I have noticed several strange things happening lately around the region. Wierd pidgey migration patterns and schools of goldeen fleeing into cooler water. I feel something is going on here and I suspect either "Team Enigma" or those blasted "Rockets" are up to no good. Please come by my lab so we may speak about this in person.

    "Hmm that was odd, Maybe I should go and see what this Prof. Evergreen wants."

    .::The Storyline::.

    Ok I have reworked this a little.

    The Story takes place approximately 1 year after G/S/C and 4 years after R/B/G/Y and around the time of R/S/E but before D/P/Pt this is so that the few D/P/Pt references I have in the game will seem accurate as well as various other things such as the new Team Rocket.

    You are a student at Earl's Pokemon Academy in the region of Johto. Your father (still the reason you move =P ) is a marine Biologist and also studies various other pokemon migratorty habits. Prof. Lilly Evergreen from the Masuyo Region calls him up in a panic and asks his opinion about several strange happenings. He claims he can't fully understand the problem without witnessing it first hand. So he and your mother talk it over and agree that it would be beneficial to move to Masuyo.

    So now what? You are currently enrolled in school and now you are being forced to leave all your friends behind. No worries you will make new ones. Thats what you've been told time and time again. Your parents have already bought a new house in Masuyo and enrolled you at a local pokemon academy so you can continue your schooling.

    Bright and early one morning not to long after your arrival in Masuyo your mother awakens you telling you this horrible, horrible news. Your father was at Port Aquarius when he was suddenly kidnapped by Team Enigma. Your mother is worried and you are enraged. Only moments later do you get a phone call from the professor asking for your help. She attempts to bribe you promising to ensure you pass your classes at the Pokemon Academy. However you have alternative motives for agreeing to help her. You plan to rescue your father and punish those responsible for his kidnapping.

    I have a few but Im remaking the maps (Again) I updated tilesets to D/P tiles and now I need to get map sizes right. However I might go custom and mix the two styles, do away with the D/P houses keep the trees and just re-shade/color the Fr/Lg tiles and add some of Kyledove and Sauravs tiles. Thats my main graphical delima at the moment.

    Name: Fayte (Boy Player)
    Age:18
    Bio:A hot headed youth who lived in Johto and attended a local Pokemon Academy. His love for pokemon is matched only by his love for battling.
    Hair/Eye Color: Brown hair,Green eyes

    Name: Hope (Girl Player)
    Age:17
    Bio: Fayte's younger sister who also attended Earl's pokemon academy. She likes to battle but prefers the contest life. She never backs down from a fight though.

    Name:Hillary
    Age:20
    Bio: A resident of Candriff town in the Masuyo region. She has a fairly shady past and not to much is known. However she insists on helping the main characters in bringing down both team rocket and team enigma.

    Bio: Prof. Lilly is one of the few poke specialists who primarily studies the migration of Pokemon. She has been researching in this field since her early 20's and has made several unique discoveries. However Professors such as Oak and Elm see her work as inferior to their studies on Pokemon evolution and breeding.
    Har/Eye Color: Red hair; Blue Eyes

    Name: Claire
    Age: 19
    Bio: Claire is the niece of Prof. Lilly and isn't encountered until later in the game. You spark her interest after defeating the Pokemon league. She then sets out to prove that you are not the Pokemon Master you think you are. There is also a love interest involved between her and another character. No spoilers though.
    Hair/Eye Color: Blonde hair; Blue Eyes

    Name: Granite
    Age: 19
    Bio: Granite is heir to the Rocket Industry and gladly takes it over after his Father and Grandfather disappear. He has several bases of operation, one in each region with a member of his elite executives overseeing them all as he runs the family Gym. He also has eyes and ear in nearly every major corporation in the Pokemon World.
    Hair/Eye Color: Brown Hair/Brown Eyes. He also wears his signature black naval cap.

    I will add sprites later of the characters Im working on the female and rival (I have concept art just need to sprite em)

    ====================

    Team Enigma and Cloud 9: Team Enigma is founded in the Masuyo Region and aims to benefit the world by running the other evil syndicates into the ground. They have 9 elite trainers that are the 9 previous Masuyo League Champions. Team Enigma was founded and is funded by Net Labs Inc.

    Team Rocket: Team Rocket returns in the hands of its newest owner, Granite the grandson of Giovanni has taken his place on the throne of this evil corporation and is running things far better than his grandfather ever imagined. He also runs the Viridian City Gym. He also aims to capture Mewtwo the legendary pokemon his grandfather often told stories of. If he captures Mewtwo he hopes to gain control over Team Enigma and all groups associated.

    Team Magma and Aqua: They are under construction and just starting off. They include few members each and want to obtain the Pokemon Mewtwo to try and locate and control the Legendary Groudon and Kyogre. However they are aware of the fact that Team Rocket is after Mewtwo as well.

    Hiya, seeing as this is the Plot section, lte's talk about the scipt :p

    WELL generic >_> haha, but that is fine, if you want a generic storyline, that is what some people want and hey, i is your game, you can have it as eneric as you like :) the only questions i have is how does Evergreen know about the characters, and why is she giving them her precious pokemon? O-o and also, Sinnoh is in a temperate/arctic region of the world, so why is there a tropical region right to the ewest of it??

    anyway, that is all i have to say :) have fun ^_^
     
    The one question I have for you is: Why is your plot special? Currently, it sounds like the basic "young kid tares down syndicate" plot. What is the syndicate's goals? And why is your game special? I'm not trying to be cruel or anything, but asking yourself those questions will result in your game being much better.

    In RSE Norman is a Gym leader and little more than that. In my games he will be an interactive part of the story much like the Mom character in most of the previous games. However we will not be ridding the game of the mother either.

    @Bards Sword: Team Rockets goal has not changed from the previous games. They still wish to gain power through theft of pokemon and I want to try and make a few events where you must retrieve your pokemon from the Rocket orginazation. Team Enigma however doesn't so much need the power. They are a fairly wealthy organization of thugs who are basically out to exterminate the Rockets for invading their turf. They do have secondary goals as well. These include Capturing the Dusk/Dawn legendaries to rid the world of the Rockets completely. Yes this makes them sound like the good guys but their motive is not for the better good of the people but instead to restore order to their evil regime. Im debating on a 3rd evil syndicate as well thats a part of Team Enigma known as Cloud 9 which is a group of Team Engima's TOP trainers. Its work in progress and will be further developed for originallity.

    @Monarc: Currently Im actually debating taking her giving you a pokemon out and you getting a New pokemon (Scribble) as a gift from your parents for graduating the Pokemon Academy. I will not delete her roles out of the game however. You will still need a POKeDEX and she will have various other roles in the story. As I mentioned earlier to Bards Sword, My story is in development. Im working out the kinks slowly and surely. I will stop none to short of perfection. The region is actually more so South West of Sinnoh rather than directly west, Thus giving it the tropical climate. Also whereas I was planning on it being nothing but a large group of islands and everyone be in shorts Im reworking the Overworld map and its not going to be as broken up as I originally planned instead it will appear as a normal region with several islands surrounding the main land of the region. Also I don't think I mentioned this little bit of info. But besides having to aquire all 8 badges you must locate the Pokemon league. You won't be able to fly there either you will have to use another means of transportation I plan to impliment into the game. Public transport is going to be one issue I focus on.

Recently added 1 fakemon to the game (Small I know but Im getting the maps done atm then focusing on implementing th new fakemon) The smeargle prevo Scribble designed by Doctor Love. I hope to gain more support and impress a lot of PokeCommunity members. I will be updating the story most likely later today.

    Also everyone please re-read the first post as I have been changing stuff around lately. Hopefully I will have some good progress on the game shortly.
    (No I don't consider the 4 towns I have done good progress)

    I plan to upload more shots tonight. (Ones of the townsand a few of the first gym battle)

    Also I will be keeping them in jpg format to prevent any theft.

    Not at all I recently decided I wanted it after playing a game where a system similar was implemented. Don't remmber the name I deleted the ROM already :[ But for the most part it was good. Also I remember RPG Maker for the PS2 had a banking function and Ive seen various Fangames adding that and I figure lets join the crowd it can't hurt to much.

    Joining the crowd can hurt alot. How exactly are you planning on accomplishing the Hygene System? Do you have a scripter that is able to do so? If not, do you think you can do it yourself? Im saying that if you are a beginner at this you should set yourself easier tasks that you could acctually accomplish. It's no point in promising alot of things an never to finish them.
     
    I have to agree with you Dragochamp and I mentioned Im a noob scripter but it doesn't mean I don't know a few advanced scripting techniques. I plan to look around the for similar scripts that are free to use with credits, Then I plan to modify them slightly to implement the features I plan to have. Its basically going to be a duplicate of the Health system used for the pokemon except it will monitor the player as opposed to the pokemon. I feel the main problem will be the status screen. I believe I mentioned to display your status you will have to use the PokeCOM and choose it from there. I think adding that into the PokeCOM will be the more difficult portion of this......... Im trying not to promise to much and Functions are not 100% finalized as well it is one of the features I am debating on. I happen to be strongly pulled towards adding it due to the fact that it would add that sense of realism into the game and I think it greatly needs it as all games do need something to make the layer feel like part of the game. I plan to add many more funtions more so less complex ones but none the less all to make the player feel like they are actually part of the game. I plan to have several plot twists as well. You will meet various Johto/Hoenn/Kanto/Sinnoh trainers and NPC's one of which I am going to add in later is a youthful yet very emotional Cyrus, and as part of the game I have made up a back story for the way he acts in Sinnoh as well the birth of Team Galactic will take place in my region as well. No they will not be a threat as there wil be very few Team Galactic members in the game and they are not one of the two Primary Syndicates I am focusing on. But none the less I plan to try and explain several things such as Flint and Volkner's tight friendship and various other things. What happened to the G/S/C heros after Johto and Ash (Not Red) will be appearing with Brock and maybe Misty in the region as trainers and their motive is to compete in the Mauyo league. Im not revealing everything however and I have much more in store. I don't want to take to large a bite however and end up spending the next 4 years in development. I plan to take 1-2 years max to have a full release of the game. Yes great things take time but hopefully not that great a time. My overall goal is the satisfaction of a great story with many unexpected twists and awesome graphics.
     
    [Update]: Ok good and bad news.......Laptop charger is messed up so production will slow down a bit until I can update (Will focus more on graphics during downtime). I won't be able to work on mapping for several weeks. I have all my files backed up so no need to worry the project is moving forward and is showing decent potential on my end. Im updating loads of character sprites in the down time or getting them ready to update (unless I can re download RPG Maker XP on my desktop) I have gotten the bank added on for the most part however it hasn't been tested yet and Im setting up tilesets for the bank. Wish me luck I look forward to my next update I just figured i would share some info. Also I plan on posting this in the games showcase very soon after another update or so to the game itself and I release a demo.
     
    Dang Sythe you've been busy. :) I better start helping. If you need anything just PM me and Ill try to get it for you! Im thinking of making some character sprites. Any specific ones you'd like me to make?

    Oh I was thinking. You think we can add a bit of comedy into the game? I think to me it makes the games more amusing to play. One of my favorites would be like the mario and luigi superstar saga game. If you ever have time play it. You'll understand what I mean by comedy or something funny about the game. ;)

    Scribble is Smeargle's baby form yes, Updated the first post added a few more bios. Also updated the features/features under debate. Will be adding new screenshots in a bit along with character ow pics on the bios section. Will try to add a pic of the fakedex thus far (not to much development on it since I last worked on the project before going to college) however it is in development now. I am getting the basics done for the demo. This means focusing mainly on Violet city area of Johto and the Masuyo region up until the 3rd or 4th gym. That should keep you guys satisfied until I am able to release demo v2 which will include the complete 8 gyms and elite four of Masuyo, However the fun won't stop there. I have plans for kanto and johto. If all works out there will be a total of 24 badges to collect and 3 league challenges. If I can correctly do the league challenges as planned expect difficult battles due to approximately 10 trainer entries plus the 4 elite four members. The first 10 battles will be preliminary rounds similar to the show and if you progress through them then you will be able to face the elite 4. And each regions league will be tougher than the last. Kanto and Johto will not share a league. Johto will have a new league in an added area to the Johto region. Will be updating first post again soon adding up to date screenies and over world sprites to the bios section.

    EDIT: Added newer screenshots and removed the older ones. Your character's appearance throughout the game is in their School attire. Fayte's is Primarily black with white trim and Hope's will be primarily white with pink trim.

    It seems reasonable enough so far, but I think you're over-egging your pudding with all those features. Like Luka said, there's no point adding so many regions or features if you're working alone. It'll take forever and is likely overkill anyhow.

    However, two petty concerns. First of all, your chronology is way out. DPPt takes place at the same time as HGSS, and RSE happens at the same time as FRLG, so your references to the other regions will need to take account of that. Or something.

    Also, geographically, I don't understand. Ignoring the fact that it defies the geography of Japan, how can you have an icy region in the north of a region south of Hoenn, which is tropical? Hoenn is to the south of Tohjo, nearer the equator, which is why it's full of beaches, essentially.

    Anywho, nice to see you back working on this.
     
    A lot has been edited and I am refining the first post. Have not fully updated it yet. The time frame for the game has been changed it is taking place approximately 10 years after DPPt/HGSS, The region is less tropical than I had orginally planned. I will be including bits of Johto (Probably just Violet City not sure though) All of Kanto/Mt. Silver. It needs a lot of reworking this I know. And I am in the process of amending the first post.

    As for the features the only one I am really lacking atm is the hygene/stamina/hunger. I have already scripted a bank script and the tournament is event based. The shadow pokemon/snagging is an iffy feature that may not make the final cut but I like having the idea there just in case. At the moment I am messing around with screen size and what not and editing graphics to fit the new screen size I choose. I am also strongly debating dual/touch screen, And yes I know how to do that. I am not a pro scripter but im not a novice scripter either. I have been scripting since before I joined these forums I am going to say since approximately 2005 or 2006 not really sure but its been several years. I will have the updated first post up later tonight/early tomorrow morning. I will post an aupdate message informing everyone. Also I will be updating the Game Dev. thread too.
