I found another fork of Red/Blue DX but this one does not have challenge plus mode and some of the obsolete code has been updated; also includes the sucker punch bugfix

I'm the author of that fork, for now it's basically just CaptainSwag101's (may his soul be blessed) with additional cleanup so that it doesn't print 163538 error messages while building the ROMs, and a light rework of game modes.

In the original, Challenge+ mode removes stat exp but also the Lucky Egg item. I found the second change pretty annoying given how much of a grindfest the game becomes after the fourth badge, so i just tweaked Challenge mode as "no stat exp, Lucky Egg enabled".

That sound amazing. This hackrom is my all time favorite and I'd like to modify it a little bit, starting from your version.
But when I try to compile your fork I have the following error message :

"
make: python2: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: ligne 1: python2 : commande introuvable
make: *** [Makefile:76: red/audio.o] Error 127
"
I installed the python3 setuptool and such on Cigwin as there is no python2 library available on it, have you any idea how I can proceed to succeed? It seems I'm not the only one with this problem (refer to page 12)

EDIT : managed to succeed. Downloaded the 2.7 python version by myself, then the rgbds 2.5 (current versions doesn't work) and then add cygwin to the path. Thank you chatgpt (wich explained me a lot a things), I'm happy now.

Thanks !

I was gonna play this, but I am very turned off by all those version exclusives. It's not even like I can inject them into my game with PKhex. What am I expected to do. Patch both a Blue and Red rom, play twice, and trade the exclusives I want to use on my team over? I genuinely don't get the point of having version exclusives in a rom hack.

The "version exclusive" mons still have a chance to appear in either game, it's just a very low encounter rate. You'll end up chancing into them while grinding in tall grass.

I'm wondering if you're generous enough to perhaps post the ips patches there on your github page, so that others may just download the ips patches.

I just don't have the time & energy right now to build & compile the patches myself cuz of my busy schedule

I'm wondering this for something around 6 or 7 years, I don't know how to build it myself, I even tried but didn't worked, I simply suck at romhacking stuff in general, and no one who knows something include the fixes (as sucker punch) and release an ips patch. This is terrible sad.

Given that it's Sendspace I'm actually surprised that it's still up! It could get nuked because it's too old for the site to keep around any minute. If you're really concerned, the Github's right there on the OP, and you can compile it with the Florges fix yourself if you want though.

Come to think of it, it's been since 2016 since the last commit and there is nothing in the Releases tab... maybe someone should compile the latest version and provide a download? No guarantees, but I'll see what I can do later.

EDIT: I tried, it just won't compile for me. Here's what's up:

In the rgbds directory:
Code:
find: yellow: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `gfx/tilemaps/slotmachine.map', needed by `red/main.o'. Stop.

In the pokereddeluxe directory:
Code:
find: yellow: No such file or directory
rgbasm -h -o red/audio.o red/audio.asm
warning: red/audio.asm(2) -> audio.asm(503) -> crysaudio/engine.asm(229):
'JP [HL]' is obsolete, use 'JP HL' instead.
warning: red/audio.asm(2) -> audio.asm(503) -> crysaudio/engine.asm(1361):
'JP [HL]' is obsolete, use 'JP HL' instead.
make: *** No rule to make target `gfx/tilemaps/slotmachine.map', needed by `red/main.o'. Stop.

Looks like the slotmachine map is the common factor? Yellow is shared too, but I think that's just because there's no Yellow version of this.
I'm getting the same error and I posted a new thread about this problem.

The CaptainSwag101's fork (on which i based mine) fixes it but you need an older version of RGBDS to make it work - I was able to build using 3.0. You may also need Python 2 which is no longer distributed in Cygwin but obtainable through the Cygwin Time Machine. Yeah, it's a bit of a hassle.

Does anyone have the docs for this game? Sendspace just loops every time I try to download

thanks.
maybe someday when I have free time (which will take a while since I'm recovering from an illness) , I'll try to compile the games with older versions of rgbds & python 2 with Gen2 sprites instead of the Gen1 variety

edit 9/26 - minor issue I encountered: some graphical glitches may occur or player may get stuck when bringing an old save file from an old DX version onto Akirazine's new 2024 DX version when playing/resuming the game in the 2024 version. workaround is to first save the game in the old version in pallet town first (use fly/dig/teleport to get to pallet town). then rename/copy the save file, load the game in the 2024 version, use fly to fly to any town and then save the game & reset to get unstuck.

I have copy of the docs along with the old version of the IPS patch files already posted on my personal Google Drive link (I posted this a year ago on Sept. 26)

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokemon Red and Blue Deluxe
I battled with my friend on a phone emulator 2 or 3 years ago. I really liked this game. I won the game by Excadrill's high critical move. I want to reply it on GBC, but I'm very sensitive to the screen flashing when my Pokémon is attacked such as TACKLE, SCRATCH and so on . I don't know if this is a game feature or a game defect。
It was a game upload almost 10 years ago, I don't know if this message can be seen by the author.

This looks really interesting. Definitely quite a bunch of interesting features, a few of which I had only thought about myself, and things like the battle factory, battle tent, inverse mode and customizable difficulty add a lot of versatility and depth to the game, and I'm also well aware that getting your hands dirty modifying the battle engine is not an easy task.
I'm personally not a fan of new gen pokemon in old gen games (also back sprites having better quality/colors than front sprites feels really weird to me but it could be mostly that I'm so much used to that being the opposite; either way I would've inserted gen 2 front sprites personally) but I might give this hack a go eventually if I can find some time to play it. I'm also admittedly not particularly interested in playing gen 1 hacks at the moment since I'm making my own and I don't want to play other hacks that could change my mind about what I want to add to my own hack.

Anyway, this is definitely one of the most versatile gb/c pokemon hacks out there and it's nice to hear that my articles and discovered inspired you to make this hack! :)
Hi do you know how to change the difficulty mode to Hm1 on the pokemon red dx hack cartridge game

I really liked the rom hack, but I found a bug: the pokemons disappear after change the box on pc, and that sucks. Plz fix it, i lost my starter :(

I'm not sure if this has been asked, but I wanted to know how evolve Inkay. I ask because I know the OG games didn't have the gyroscope feature lol
