I don't believe we have any connections between RSE to any other game to actually figure out when the games occur.

The only thing we have is Steven's dialogue in HGSS, and that's both extremely vague, contradictory to different theories (and whether the events of RS or Emerald are the correct interpretation) and might just be an in-joke aimed towards the player.

What about the fact that you can have ribbons in B/W maybe so you can keep them for the remake when you import them from gen 4

Yeah, that was my initial thought, late 2012-2013, it seems plausable and it's the 10 year anniversary, if they are following that pattern like they did with HG/SS

and I doubt they would name it Magma Ruby & Aqua Sapphire for two reasons

#1. They're very predictable names, I mean everybody expected something like Dusk Gold & Dawn Silver or something along them lines, and then they come out with something completely different as to Pokémon Heart Gold & Pokémon Soul Silver
#2. The main teams in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire are Team Magma & Team Aqua so that woudn't really work for the names sharing the same name as the villinous teams.

The only reason I dislike MagmaRuby and AquaSapphire as names for the RS remakes is because they're way too commonly predicted, and that they're the same as the names of Team Magma and Team Aqua. SunRuby and MoonSapphire don't work because Kyogre has nothing to do with moons, and BurningRuby and SpiritSapphire don't really work because Groudon is more affiliated with earth than fire, and Kyogre has nothing to do with souls/spirits either. Plus, "burning" and "spirits" don't really counterpart each other well... I'm just hoping GameFreak comes up with some awesome names...

I loved the tree houses, so I would probably buy it too.

That's actually the reason I'm in this forum right now... :cer_laugh: (long story short, the Secret Bases hooked me back into the Pokemon mythos :D)

Ribbons returned in BW?! RS remakes would be a great time to expand on them... :o

Yeah, I'd just really love a R/S remake to see the likes of some really great Cities & Scenerys such as Fortree City & Mauville City.

well kinda, you cant get them in the game but if your pokemon has them you can view it, so the data is in the game.

Well they could just remake emerald, which is what I'd prefer over having ruby/sapphire remade. Best of both worlds then.

It might be the case, sort of. In HGSS they incorporated a lot of the Crystal storyline, with Eusine and Suicune, so they might do the same thing here and incorporate Emerald.

I was under the impression he meant that they should only make an emerald remake.
But yea they might use stuff from emerald such as separate trainer double battles, gym leader rematches and battle frontier, but im sure they would keep R/S storyline with the separate villains

I would love this, however I would not like it to be like BW, please someone else take Pokemon before this event occurs. :P
Anyways, there is a chance that it will be more like emerald as HGSS were similar to Crystal, however FRLG were not similar to Yellow... Oh well, only time will tell

Yeah I was saying only an emerald remake. I agree it may not be the case. I said Emerald because I loved emerald's plot much more than Ruby and Sapphire's, and would love to see it remade. Emerald just perfected Gen III, hopefully it can perfect a remake.

If I were them I wouldn't remake it, there really isn't a reason too. But yeah I'd but it cause I'd but any pokemon game that isn't a spinoff.
Well, I think eventually there will. I mean you can still obtain gen III pokemon if you want through migrating if you have the DS lite or original DS, but as the GBA slot has been phased out and the 3DS eventually the main portable Nintendo focuses on there will be a reason to make a gen III remake. It's almost close to ten years, so the tenth anniversary would be a great time for a remake release. I guess only time will tell.

The last Nintendo handheld with a GBA slot is soon to be 3 models back from the latest thing, and may soon not even be actively manufactured.

They don't need to make them. But I have a gut feeling they will.

And I won't argue with that :P I freakin love R/S/E! It's probably my second favourite out of all gens.

Fun fact: did you know that Hoenn is the only region not to be rendered into 3D yet?

Ok quick question
1 why do people think R/S doesn't need a remake? If you want hoen pokemon you would have to get them on a 3rd gen game, import them to gen 4 and then import them again to gen 5. So it really does make sense to come out with a remake because only fans(like me lol) will pay 30 bucks for R/S 100 bucks for a ds lite and another 35 for 4th gen games just to transfer them to there 5th gen game. Remember that they want to market B/W to new comers so maybe they wont have those games , so why not make it easy for them.

2. I think they might use the safari zone to get gen 5 pokemon it would make alot of sense for them to do it.

WTF?! That's the same scenario as the Apricorn Balls! ARRRGH!!! :cer_pissed: Honestly, I'd go back to the days of RBY's completely static sprites just for Apricorn Balls, Seals, and Ribbons to be re-incorporated into the games. Further evidence IMO that Black and White were unjustly rushed...

That's what I'm really hoping that Game Freak does. The Battle Frontier, Trainer Hill, Gym Leader rematches, and the upgraded PokeNav could all be brought back from Emerald. The main thing causing the problem is the dual storyline in terms of the crime syndicate involved. Emerald combined the teams, while Ruby and Sapphire each had the player allying with one team while opposing the other (both dependent on version). And there's the problem with the exclusivity of the version mascots - FRLG and HGSS didn't have a problem with the mascots because both mascots were available in each game anyway. Ruby and Sapphire introduced the whole "legendary mascot exclusivity" concept that the subsequent paired versions utilize, while the two "third versions" after Ruby and Sapphire retained GSC's concepts of "all mascots available in one game".

Regarding the plot and mascot exclusivity, Game Freak could still use Emerald's plot with Rayquaza intervening in the conflict amidst the embittered Groudon and Kyogre. They could cut down on the Rayquaza mentions (i.e., at Mt. Pyre, the old lady guarding the Orbs could recite the original legends that RS both had, rather than Emerald's revision). As soon as Rayquaza uses Hyper Voice and forces Groudon and Kyogre to descend to their respective domains, Rayquaza flies back to Sky Pillar. The sky clears.

If the player tries to visit Sky Pillar following the end of the weather trio conflict, a message could say at the door that "The instability of Sky Pillar has caused rocks to impede the entrance. Try as you might, the rocks won't budge." This obstacle would serve to prevent entry in Sky Pillar until the player succeeds in beating the Elite 4 and the Champion. Upon completion of the Elite 4, the rocks mysteriously vanish and Rayquaza would become accessible in a similar vein as in Ruby/Sapphire. The Sky Pillar would also have those cracks from RS that necessitate the Mach Bike. Alternatively, Game Freak could use HGSS's method, requiring the player to have the counterpart mascot in the PokeDex in order to access Rayquaza. I, however, prefer the original RS method of encountering Rayquaza.

In the middle of speaking with Steven and Wallace in the front of Sootopolis post-conflict with clear skies overhead, another weather condition could arise (this would match the weather condition that the version mascot causes with its ability; i.e., in Sapphire's remake, only heavy rain would interrupt the conversation). Steven and Wallace will notice the weather anomaly, puzzled as to why the disturbance has resurged. Wallace will instruct the player to survey the Cave of Origin and determine if the source of the irrational weather could be present in there.

Entering the Cave of Origin once more, you would happen upon the legendary mascot of your game, either catching it, defeating it, or fleeing from it. If you flee, it continues to reappear in Cave of Origin after you exit and re-enter the cave (just like Terra Cave and Marine Cave did in Emerald).

Now I believe the only thing left to address regarding Emerald's imbalance is the Magma Emblem and the absence of Magma Admin Courtney:

-As for an "Aqua Emblem", Aqua Admin Shelly or an Aqua Grunt could drop this item on the floor in the Weather Institute as Team Aqua hastily makes an escape. A Weather Institute employee could notice it on the floor and give it to the player, mentioning that it might come in handy in the near future. This Aqua Emblem would then be used later on to gain entry to Team Aqua's headquarters on the shore of Lilycove City. I know it's completely unnecessary when compared to the original RS's method of entering Team Aqua's HQ, but otherwise having only a Magma Emblem in the game kind of makes the teams seem unequal.

-As for Magma Admin Courtney, either have her stall the player in Team Magma's Mt. Chimney HQ in place of Tabitha, or have her team up with Maxie during the Mossdeep Space Center double battle (again, in place of Tabitha). Tabitha had one more appearance than Shelly/Isabel in Emerald, so letting Courtney take over one of his battles wouldn't do too much harm, IMO.

And there, you have RS remakes with Emerald's plot while still retaining RS "exclusivity" elements! :D

Question: What Gen IV and V Pokémon would you like to see implemented into the Hoenn wild in the remakes, if any?

Hmm...I guess Mamenbou being located where Luvdisc are found, with some Unova Pokemon making their way to the Safari Zone. The developers could create rare wild encounters for any Sinnoh Pokemon related to Gen 3 Pokemon, and have such Sinnoh-Pokemon-evo encounters located in the proximity of their Hoenn relatives. The rosters of the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 could be updated (i.e., one of Phoebe's Dusclops evolving into Dusknoir; Drake replacing Kingdra with Crimgan or Ononokusu; one of Glacia's Glalie getting replaced with a Froslass; Flannery gaining an Ulgamoth on her team ;)). And for Pete's sake, replace Wally's male Gardevoir with a Gallade! T_T
