I really hope that Pokemon can follow you in the remake, I loved that feature in HG/SS, I was disappointed that it wasn't in B/W.

So Grey will be DS, 3DS enhanced and R/S will be 3DS only?

Nintendo have never said that DS games can be 3DS enhanced - and I don't see how it can be possible for a few technical reasons.

Game Freak aren't developing DS games any more. 3DS development kits were being given out to studios nearly two years ago (With special priority given to their partners The Pokémon Compnay), so they've had plenty of time to get to grips with developing for the new system.

Yeah, sure spin-off titles like Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition are still being made for the DS - but nobody knows how well that game is even going to be received, and might not even see a worldwide release so Nintendo are playing it safe and going the much cheaper route of producing a DS title.

Game Freak on the other hand, haven't released a Pokémon game yet that wasn't for the newest Nintendo handheld at the time, and a real Pokémon game is guaranteed to be both a best seller in it's own right and another killer app for the 3DS that's become a lot cheaper and boosted by two great Mario games.

I won't be getting a 3DS until about late may or early June so I hope they release for both DS and the 3DS, there isn't much of a difference between the 3DS and the DSi anyway besides the 3D

This is completely false. The DSi is not much more than a souped-up DS and it still wouldn't be able to handle many games that the 3DS is capable of.

The differences between the systems basically means they would have to make two games at once, and that would be a tremendous waste of money and manpower that's not what Nintendo want to promote the 3DS brand.

Besides, why do you care? Nobody has even announced a Pokémon game yet so it's not likely to be available in English until next year, at the very best towards the end of 2012.

Hopefully they do remake it. Dont really see a point off the 3D other than wanting to make more money. But then again it's a buisness after all. I wonder what they'd be called.

The fact that the 3DS has been out for months now makes me think assuming a third game comes first that it will be on 3DS but they might want to save that for R/S remakes. They've most probably already begun work on a third game and decided whether it's going to be for 3DS or DS. I'm sure either way the graphics for an R/S remake would be superb whether that be on 3DS or DS I mean take a look aw BW for the DS...

I'm not sure if Game Freak doesn't develop games for DS anymore. What proofs are there? The fact that 3DS development kits were being given out is not really the proof. Maybe they are working on 6 gen for 3DS along with 5 gen games for DS. They said that they had been creating 5 gen engine for more than four years, so preparing 6 gen engine must take long time too.

I don't think they would split 5th gen main games between DS and 3DS. I they wanted to make R/S remakes and Grey only for 3DS they would must improve their graphics so greatly, comparing to B/W, that they would look like next gen of games. It doesn't really make sense. I think 6 gen games should be 3DS only.

Games for original Gameboy had been being made and sold for 10 years before Gameboy Color appeared. So DS games could be being made for such a long time too even if 3DS appeared year ago. People would still buy games for DS.

D/P were released two years after DS selling started. So 6 gen games could be released in 2014, three years after 3DS selling started.

Nintendo doesn't want their biggest games on the DS because everyone already has one. The 3DS picked up a lot of steam after the great price cuts, the release of Super Mario Land 3D and Mario Kart 7, and saw a monumental spike in purchases when Monster Hunter 3G was released in Japan.

They have enough of a user base now to sell a real Pokémon game to, and also bring in even more reasons for people to pick up a 3DS. Nintendo does not care in the slightest that we're in the "middle of a Generation", they're going to sell you a 3DS by any means possible. Hell, they might even be hoping that by announcing Pokémon they'll see another surge in sales like Monster Hunter caused. Remember that Nintendo is always going to want to provide gamers with as many reasons to choose the 3DS and they now have to see off competition from Sony who've recently released the Playstation Vita to Japan and will be releasing worldwide next month.

Game Freak took two years to develop Diamond and Pearl for the DS once Emerald came out, and at this rate we're looking at another September release for the 2012 Pokémon game. Lesser developers can port their games over to the 3DS platform in much less time, and Game Freak have the resources to use of Creatures Inc. and The Pokémon Company who have already produced an engine for the 3DS that displays Pokémon in 3D graphics.

I still don't like idea of splitting 5 gen between two consoles. However it makes sense what you said. They care only about selling.

The best would be if 3DS was released year earlier - in beginning of 2010 and if B/W were only for 3DS. That would be the right order. Because things are kinda messed up as they are now.

So how would R/S remakes and Grey look like only for 3DS ? Will all places in game be like Castelia City? With that unique camera views ? Will battle models for Pokemon be in 3d ? That would be cool but too much different from B/W.

But then if they didn't split it up that would mean no mainstream Pokémon games on 3DS until 2014 and that's 2 years away, surely they wouldn't let us wait that long... I'm going to stick with my instinct of the R/S remake being on 3DS and the third game being on DS. We'll get a release Fall/Winter 2012 whether that be a third game or remake then the rest of the world will follow for 2013 then the other that wasn't released for mid-late 2013.

Well the comparison of the DS(I) Is beside the point, it's true Game Freak has the resources they need for a Pokemon game on the 3DS, but that doesn't exactly mean that they will release these games (Grey and R/S/W remakes) on the consoles, I'm pretty darn sure Nintendo had the DS kits when emerald was in development, but it was obviously released on the GBA, emerald came out in 05, the first FS system came out early or mid 07 I believe, so it's a chance we can save our money on a remake this year.

*DS not FS lol sorry, my mistake I'm on my phone

You are wrong at all dates. You should check things before posting anything.
Emerald was released on September 16, 2004 and first DS on November 21, 2004.

Sorry I was looking at the US release date for emerald, and I was thinking about D/P for DS date haha sorry, but same concept.

In Japan R/S was released November 2002, that's the main one to focus on considering they're the most likely pair to get remade and November 2012 would mark their 10th Anniversary then the rest of the world early spring 2013 which if they keep to that pattern we'll be hearing of the remakes in just short of a few months from now.

They care only about selling. .

This.
I don't think I'm going to buy the R/S/E remakes straight away if they're on the 3DS only. I can't afford to buy a whole new console just for the sake of playing one game. I'm going to wait until lots of people have played it, and if it looks exceptional I might consider investing in the 3DS. Though frankly, I tried one out in a video game shop and it just gave me a headache >_<

I always find myself listening to remixes of the original tracks from R/S/E (Hoenn) such as HGSS & BW sound front's in fact, I'm listening to one right now and I just think how beautiful they would sound in an actual remake.

I think these one Littleroot Town remix in B/W soundfont is even better made if not the best on the whole Youtube:

Also this gym leader battle remix is great :

Check other remixes on that channel if you want.

I'm sure lots of people would buy a 3DS just for an R/S remake assuming they make it for the 3DS and I'm sure Nintendo think the same after all like people say they're always after money and that would bring in a ton of cash guaranteed.

Have you also heard the HGSS version? I personally favor that one, if the fast bit at the end was just a bit slower.

So if it's true that next games are going to be 3DS only I think R/S remakes should be first. When Nintendo releases games for new console, they always release those games which are more "fresh" (they were always completely new games, but this time it's impossible).

R/S remakes will have Hoenn with fresh improved graphics and music while Grey will be similar to B/W. So R/S remakes would be better start for 3DS and make people more interested in buying 3DS. Also there are many new kids who never played R/S/E and would like to try their remakes.

You mean utuber6061 version? I still prefer the one I posted.
