I like your pirate sprites, but for the record, there's an unused Aqua Grunt sprite (see my avatar) within Ruby's coding that you could use or edit slightly.

You should make the hero sprite match the other sprites or vice-versa. :\
Also, I can see a tile error on te last screenshot.
Actually I can see more on the first and second screenies as well. :\
Anyway, I look forward to seeing this hack develop further. :D
