Hell0 hello! Sorry for the lack of updates in a few days. It was a combination of database errors and a long conversation with Coolboyman which led to an idea that could turn the hack around and make it better, but we want you all's opinions on it, so we added a poll.

As it seems to me(Mateo) and Coolboyman, while it would require redoing a lot of things, it would make the hack a lot better, and fit more in line with what Gold and Silver initially did if we change it so you start in Latio, then after experiencing the awesomeness of the brand new region, you get a chance to com back to Johto. Once there you learn about the Typhoon as to why you cannot get to Kanto, and you experience Johto as we have it now, with a few things taken out that were pointless and new things added that are awesome, which are alread added of course and would not require recoding, such as the PCC and Skeetendo event and battle machines and new places and all of that. Basically what this change would involve is we put Johto on hold for now, focus on Latio which I'm sure you all are anxious to find out about, and then release a new demo in Latio. After latio is complete, we rework soem of the un-needed things that would now be in johto (such as HMs you would already have in Latio, starter pokemon and such)
Another good thing about this is you don't have to play through the still-basically-familiar johto before you get to the good, juicy new region and all it has to offer^^ So vote your opinion, and post why you feel that way, and once a concensus has been reached we will pick up where we need to for whatever we decide on. (well with maps anyway. We will still work on things such as inserting Pokemon and doign tileset work and other things that arent dependent on which region we start in, so work will not be at a standstill while we vote)
 
I think it's a GREAT idea. I'm of course, a little bummed that the wait will be longer, but I know it will be worth it.
a new region is always exciting, and it'll be similar to the Gold experience of seeing what changes have come to Kanto, but instead we'll get to see it in johto...of course we've already got a little teaser of the changes thanks to the first beta :P

Erimgard just took the words I could say about the idea of going first to the new region, then Johto. It will have sort of a feel of deja-vu or something with Gold's story, hehe...

The tough part would be thinking about a lot of new events, but, we'll try to help with some ideas... Now, let's get our brains in motion, shall we? ;)

So, the new region will be replacing the whole Kanto? (or perhaps some bits of Kanto could remain, and who knows, perhaps there could be a bit of it that we could play, just for fun...)
 
It will most likely replace al of kanto, although if we get good at adding new maps we may add in a very small portion of it, like jsut one or two towns like Coolboyman did with Johto in Brown version, however it couldn't be a lot anyway, as Kanto was hit by a typhoon. However, given the fact that We are saying Latio is next to Hoenn, what is more likely are a few outlying places in Hoenn being accessible from Latio.

Also, Ideas will be greatly appreciated. As Zel said, get your thinking caps on ;)

Also, I am currently finishing up a new Latio tileset, as the old one I'm sorry to say proved to be unusable really. It looked good for routes and very small towns but tryign to fit all those advance tiles in left no room for much of anything, not even cut trees, so it is being reworked and it will be a totally new experience^^
 
When revisiting Johto, will you start in New Bark Town? or will it begin in Olivine Since that is where the port is, much like how you get to vermillion in Gold/silver
I think you could work in some good plot doing it that way. you'd have to fight your way from olivine outward and experience ALL of the towns out of order. and then you could visit the hero from Gold's house and such...and maybe get in a battle with him and/or his rival
 
Um, I played a bit of the demo and aside from some slight changes its exactly like Silver, are there any dramatic changes in the demo or am I not at the point yet where the game changes? I am currently at the sprout tower and just defeated Falkner.

Wel you go to Goldenrod and then Azalea,
Most changes are in Goldenrod I think.
 
for now it's not MAJOR changes
but somethings have been switched around. order of the towns, wild pokemon catchable, what towns have gyms, etc. but, as said before, the next beta is probably going to START in Latio. thus, you get the new region first, then a blast to the past with a moderated johto.
and yeah, goldenrod and eucrateak (sp I'm sure) have some pretty big changes
 
Yes, it is now officially announced: The next beta will start in Latio. Latio will be a brand new experience just like Johto was. When you come to Johto, it is very likely that as you predicted you will come in from Olivine and pull a Kanto in experiencing all of them out-of-order and such. Like Kanto, Johto will feature somethings taken out or made smaller, but not as many as Kanto and also New things added like you already got a taste of in this last beta.

Also, we are finishing up the new (useable, lol) Latio tileset. It will nto be advancey, as there isnt really room to make it advancey and have enough graphics to be suited for anythign beyong routes and really small towns. This tileset is both new and borrows from a few beta screens(but not that beta tileset everyone knows about). So we shall keep you informed on the progress in this rebirth of Sterling Silver. Stay tuned for more info!
 
well, at least it will keep the New First, old Second theme as in GSC.

Can't Wait to conquer Latio as i did with the other Regions! XD!

Sorry for the huge lack of updates as of late, we have been both really busy (off the computer) so we haven't got much done, but expect a big update tomorrow concerning Pokémon Sterling Silver: Cry of Celebi! Thanks for your patience!

Well people! Here it is, the newest update for Pokémon Sterling Silver: Cry of Celebi!

As many of you know, we have decided to start the game in Latio and no longer Johto. You start in a little town called Newdawn Town just on the lower west coast of Latio.

The storyline is just like the original, just your starting in Latio ;)

You will no longer start off with Eevee, you will receive a new Pokémon! This Pokémon is not a new one, its already in the series.

A new feature will be the honey trees. If any of you remember the honey trees were a feature taken out of Gold/Silver before the final release, but were brought back in Diamond/Pearl.

We aren't going to reveal all the features because would take all the fun out of waiting wouldn't it? ;)

Some Hoenn Pokémon will be making an appearance in the game, as noted before, but this time we have a list of who is being replaced by who, so we don't get lost again.

Some things from Johto and the first beta will appear in Latio so you we can have some new and exciting things in Johto to look forward to!

Another thing is, there is a new way to capture Lugia and the three legendary birds from Kanto. You may recognize it, and if you think you know what it is, keep it to yourself and don't try guessing in the thread, as it may spoil things for other members.

There is more to come and you guys can expect a beta within a month or two!

Anyways people, thats some of the new tileset! and also please note that we are using a clean rom, so we haven't inserted the Hero sprite yet, but it will be replaced!

And remember folks, just because its GBC, doesn't mean its not worth it to play!
